Hi, Rather than trying to determine the type afterwards, you can actually specify in your form tag that name is to be treated as a list. Use: <select name="name:list" multiple> and Zope will coerce the input into a list. Which type

Hi , I have DTML External Method , writen in python. This returns: - a string if erithing is fine ( makes a kind of SELECT) - a negativ number ( -1,-2,...) in case of error - an error code. How should I konw in Zope if the result is string, None or a numbar? Something like: <dtml-if "type(result)== string"> do someting wit a string <dtml-elif "type(result)== int"> ... </dtml-if> Thanks! Problem with programmatic copy and paste

We are trying to copy the contents of one folder into another using DTML. The code below produces the following exception: 'One or more items referred to in the clipboard data was not found. The item may have been moved or deleted after you copied it.' <dtml-let clip="manage_copyObjects(objectIds())"> <dtml-with Folder> <dtml-with "_.getitem(REQUEST['id'])"> <dtml-call "manage_pasteObjects(clip)"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> </dtml-let> This works (mostly) if the getitem call is removed, and the objects are pasted into 'Folder' - which is an instance of a ZClass, which subclasses folder. I have seen a similar question to this in the archives of this list but I have not found an answer. Can anyone help. Variable as record type or dictionary

Hi Zopists! I need to copy a record from into a <dtml-in> tag to use it later. Suppose: "Client" is a select ZSQL method (select * from Client where <dtml-sqltest client_num type=string>). ---- <dtml-in "Client(client_num='2345')"> copy the retrieved record in a variable </dtml-in> ---- "OrderLine" is a insert ZSQL method: insert into OrderLine (order_num,client_num,client_name,client_address,...,product_num,...) values (<dtml-sqlvar order_num type=string>, insert the column "client_num" from the previous retrieved Client record, insert the column "client_name" from the previous retrieved Client record, insert the column "client_address" from the previous retrieved Client record, ..., <dtml-sqlvar product_num type=string>, ...) ---- Registering the order lines... <dtml-call "OrderLine(order_num='OR4567',product_num='PENCIL-0067')"> <dtml-call "OrderLine(order_num='OR4568',product_num='PEN-BLUE-8')"> <dtml-call "OrderLine(order_num='OR4569',product_num='PENCIL-0045')"> <dtml-call "OrderLine(order_num='OR4570',product_num='PENCIL-0023')"> <dtml-call "OrderLine(order_num='OR4571',product_num='PEN-BLCK-1')"> <dtml-call "OrderLine(order_num='OR4572',product_num='PEN-031')"> ---- Take in mind that I can't put the ZSQL method "Client" inside the ZSQL method "OrderLine" because the Client method needs about 10 seconds to execute and if every "OrderLine" method needs his time plus 10 seconds (from the "Client" method) this can take over one minute for the above example order. This is not viable! Awaiting 15 seconds to place the order is acceptable but over one minute isn't. The solution is to execute the "Client" method only one time. How to pass arguments to ZSQL-Methods?

I'm trying to pass some arguments to a ZSQL method using the following: <dtml-in "_[qry_name](_.None, _, column='Model', table='Panels', criteria='1=1')"> where qry_name *contains* the name of the ZSQL method that I want to use, but it gives this error: Error Type: Bad Request Error Value: ['column', 'table', 'criteria'] which suggests that the stuff after "_[qry_name]" is not evaluated thus the arguments are not passed onto the ZSQL method. I then tried something like this: <dtml-let column='Model' table='Panels' criteria="'1=1'"> <dtml-in "_[qry_name]"> : : : : : : </dtml-in> </dtml-let> This gives the same error as above. seeking Australian Zope developer / designer

Hello, My name is Kate Booker, I am based in Sydney, Australia and I publish a kids web site called "wicked4kids". The site has grown to the extent that it is no longer feasible to maintain it using html files as site wide changes involve redundantly updating many pages on the site. I also want to start to outsource the webmaster role so I can focus more on the business. Other future goals are to make the site more interactive and personalisable. This has brought me to the point of considering what technology to use. I am considering alternatives such as; XML with server side translation to HTML, Cold Fusion, Domino and of course Zope. While the open-source and non-proprietary nature of Zope really appeals to me (and is a count against, for example, Cold Fusion), my prime concern is the availability of developers / designers. My site currently uses perl scripts and I have had difficulty getting developers to help me with maintaining the site, so I am a bit nervous about moving to a less well-known technology such as Zope. What I would like to know is the availability of support for developing / designing web sites, where they are based and at what cost. ZCatalog of method output

I read you could define a ZClass instance's method as a field-index of a ZCatalog; but it's not working for me. The DTML method dept_code is simply: <dtml-return "_.string.split(jobcode,'-')[0]"> When I call the method directly it returns a single character, the first character of the jobcode. The method dept_code is defined as a field-index of the ZCatalog JobsCat. But when I access JobsCat thus: <dtml-in "JobsCat(meta_type='Job Opening', sort_on='dept_code')"> <li> <a href="<dtml-var "JobsCat.getpath(data_record_id_)">"> (<dtml-var dept_code>) <dtml-var jobcode>: <dtml-var title></a> </dtml-in> the items are not sorted, and dept_code is null. redefining __call__ in product (IEmethod)?

trying to make Johanc's IEmethod product fit into our intranet, i modified it to inherit from DTMLdocument instead of method, and modified __call__ in it by cut'n paste from DTMLdocument and adding : std_html_header= apply(HTML.__call__, (self.standard_html_header,bself, REQUEST), kw) std_html_footer= apply(HTML.__call__, (self.standard_html_footer,bself, REQUEST), kw) out = std_html_header + r + std_html_footer return out to make it include standard_html_header and footer.. Everything works nicely, except it cannot see objects outside itself or header/footer.. As my header and footer references other methods in my site, things break..
