Access object inside a folder

Hi, I have put objects inside a folder tabledef and would like to refer them : <dtml-in "_.getitem('tabledef').objectItems(['DTML Document'])" sort=id mapping> <dtml-var "_['sequence-item']" html_quote> </dtml-in> However, this does not work, But putting the objects in the current folder works without problems: <dtml-in "objectItems(['DTML Document'])" sort=id> <dtml-var "_['sequence-item']" html_quote> </dtml-in> I also try: <dtml-with tabledef> <dtml-in "objectItems(['DTML Document'])" sort=id> <dtml-var "_['sequence-item']"> </dtml-in></dtml-with> and some other combinations, all without success. How can I access the objects (DTML DOCUMENTS) inside a folder? Moreover, I would like to do the following: I have some properties of an object abc which have same name with the object ids in the tabledef folder, I would also lookup the objects' properties : <dtml-in propertyMap mapping> <dtml-with tabledef.id> <dtml-var help> <dtml-var taborder> </dtml-with> </dtml-in> Assume abc have a property address, then there should be a dtmldoc call address in tabledef, which have properties "help" and "tableorder". ZCatalog pointing to wrong object.

Hi all! I have been having some problems with ZClasses and the Catalog. I made a new Catalogaware External Product, based mostly on the Boring and Photo products. When I add an instance to a folder the Catalog is updated, but doesn't point to the right object. The product inherits from Catalogaware and Objectmanager (and some others). Example: In the folder "test" I add an XML Folder (the product) with name: "fold" and title: "no1". The Catalog shows a new object with name "test" and title: "no1". If I then add an XML Folder to test with name "fold2" and title "no2" the Catalog still only contains one object: test/no2. If I want to delete the objects I get some weird behavior. The first one goes without a problem, it removes the entry from the Catalog. The second gives an error message: "Error Type: ValueError Error Value: Uncatalog of absent id 'Test' " This can probably be explained by the fact that there was only one entry pointing to the Test Folder. I have been trying to get a working combination of Apache and Zope the proxypass and Siteserver method as in howto http://www.zope.org/Members/anser/apache_zserver it is working now but ... ZClass beginners question

Hi, I want to connect our own proprietary database to zope. I know which features I want because I did an ordinary CGI-application already. I would like to use a ZClass. My question: For connecting to my database do I have to use external functions? The goal is to construct a product like thing that we could easily give away. Howto engineer a scientific paper system

How to engineer a scientific paper system Are there products out for this, should we produce one? ------ In short, I would like to have Zope assist me in producing a scientific paper. So how can I produce pointers from within the text to objects holding more information about these pointers, i.e. a referene within a paragraph is linked to the bibliography. ------ My setup so far is a folder structure, with DTML Documents for content that have Properties holding the references in token (semi-colon) separeted lines. Methods are used to parse the folder (having chapter properties) and DTML Documents in order to get a table of content structure and html-styled reference list respectively. ------ The method I wrote are much of the type of dtml_tree using dtml-in to identify the object, produce something with that object, and then calling the method again from within the method. Sometimes, though, I get an infinite recursion. This requires lots of debugging, as the loads of methods intermingled with standard puplishing methods are hard to overlook. The parsing techniques would need exception handling and whenever I split a method up, the value is passed on the the request namespace (that might produce further havoc in a newbie scope of understanding). A class object system instead of scripts should work better and should also be easier to enrich with additional qualities later in the development process (as it still is the paper first that should get done instead of the software system). So maybe it is time for a full revision, letting classes produce the work. Are there other ways to achieve this? Maybe should I a produce something such as a lightened ZWiki product for that purpose. Or, should all content go into SQL tables? What steps should I take next? Any further ideas of co-problem-solvers? Regards, Christian

Copy/Paste problem

Hi! (Nobody dared to answer, trying to do some research...) I (and some my friends) have problem with Copy/Paste. Sometimes it's wotking, but often Paste button does not appeared after Copy/Cut. I put debug DTML method on a site - just <dtml-var REQUEST> and found browse always pass __cp cookie, so it is not a cookie problem. I copied the cookie value and tried to _cb_decode it myself: from marshal import loads, dumps from urllib import quote, unquote from zlib import compress, decompress def _cb_decode(s): print unquote(s) return loads(decompress(unquote(s))) print _cb_decode('x%DA%D3%60b%60%60%C8%04b%86hF%20%A1%01%E2%16%83%B9%CC%20%16%07%03%1C0%21q%D8%95%919%B3%20%92%9D%04%29') error: MemoryError: Out of memory while decompressing data. I did experimets with by copying just one DTML document in a folder 1 level below the root, so this is not a problem with too many object or too long path. What is it? Sun Sparc, Solaris 2.5.1, python 1.5.2 compiled by me from sources, Zope (both 2.1.4 and 2.2.0b3) compiled from sources; gcc 2.7.2.3. I did some experiments on Linux. Paste works a little better there, but not much - often Paste button does not appeare. Oleg. zope and caching

hi good people i've been using zope for quite some time now. everything has been great; zope, the mailinglist, products are great! <rant> i want to serve a dynamic site and zope fits the bill. now, i think i want to have some of the dynamic methods cached, so as to reduce the cpu cycles on my server. y'see, the site has slowly bogged down as the number of users increase(dwhich is good, the users increase :)) and cpu cycles processing user requests have increased. i'm not too sure (being a newbie) whether all my methods contribute to the consumption of cpu cycles. caching. yes, i've tried putting cache headers on my docs, but it seems that ie do not honor the headers, or maybe i put it wrongly. ie(4.x and 5.x) kept showing the cached version of my pages, even after clearing the local cache. only deleting the temp files solved the problem. i had no bad behaviour from netscape. also tried ZCache, but according to the product author, better wait for the next version. so, i'm waiting. meanwhile, i've tried Cache Pool, and it looks good. i have yet to test the effectiveness of Cache Pool, but it looks as if the page loads faster now. </rant> the point is this: will zope ever have a method cacheing modules/object in the future? for i think zope can be faster if he/she/it have this built in. just a thought. what say you guys? how do you guys tackle this? thanks -- ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.kedai.com.my/kk Am I Evil?
