how to invalidate an object in the cache?

I am working with photo rotating/resizing, via PIL on external method. All the images are kept on LocalFS. There is a thumbnail bonanza page, when I select a thumbnail a form is shown, and I can adjust rotation/contrast/brightness. Upon submit, the new image+thumbnail is calculated and written to the filesystem. Then the method calls RESPONSE.redirect to show the index page again. When I go back to the index thumbnail page, the image I've just rotated is displayed with the right size (which means that Zope gets it right), but not rotated (which means that Netscape reads the old image from the cache). I mean, if it was 320x200 and is now 200x320, the browser displays the old 320x200 image stretched to 200x320. I'm not digging into contrast and brightness, but the same happens. Is there a way to force the browser to discard the cache for that image? If I go "right-button, view image, shift+reload" the new image is displayed. Any idea? I'm not very knowledgeable on this matter, I don't design pages for a living. Might javascript help? Thank you. -- "This company has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. What is default SU password in Zope 2.2b3?

Hello All, A friend of mine has just installed Zope 2.2b3 by, as he told, simply run install script in RedHat 5.?. He reports that at least his_site:8080 shows normal start-up screen but no password was displayed during installation so he can't proceed to managemet screen. Zpasswd.py utility seems not to work due to lack of some library (?). Should he reinstall Zope or there is a default password? Best regards, Alexander N. PCGI Error: (102) failure during connect to ZServer

This is with Zope-2.2.0b3-src.tgz The pcgi wrapper reports ...is unable to connect to the ZServer background process via Unix socket .../var/pcgi.soc I am trying to install this on a remote host, this error came up locally too, though. I followed glndspud's howto on 3rdparty host setup. With a 2.1.6 release I was able to get zope running. However, with this setup I was not able to login through manage, the authorization did not work. So my reasoning, an upgrade should make this error vanish. Not so, until now. ;-( Christian

Fun with Trees

(I always wanted to be a lumberjack! :) After RTFMing and flailing at DTML all night, I'm about stumped. No pun intended. I'm trying to use dtml-tree to create a selective menu of objects based on whether or not the object has an "add_to_menu" property. I've pretty much figured out that I need a wrapper around objectValues that will filter out the objects that don't have the "add_to_menu" property. This wrapper would be called with dtml-tree's "branches" attribute. I'm trying to do this wrapper in a DTML method and I've gotten all the way to where I have to return a list of "actual objects", so says the DTML Quick Reference. Is there someone who could 'splain to me how to build a list of objects in DTMLese? Zope dumps core while querying on id

Hello, Actually I suppose it's Python that's dumping core. I'm using 2.1.6. The other day I posted a question asking why my bobobase_modification_time was off by 1 day. I got no answer. But upgrading from 2.1.4 to 2.1.6 seems to have fixed that issue. The core dump happened in 2.1.4, so I upgraded to 2.1.6, but the core dump issue remains. thanks, Luke

Dear community Please check out and test this patch that I would send it to Collector. I suppose that this feature is very usefull for us and would be good thing if will be insert in next beta of Zope2.2.0. Arrg! dtml-in can't handle lists of pairs!

Ok. I get a list of rows from a database query. I want to iterate over the rows. If there are 3 or more columns in the table, everythin is fine. If there are 2 columns, it doesn't work. It seems as if dtml-in handles lists of pairs specially. Not a good thing. Can I supress this behavior? calling standard_html_header from external methods

How may I access standard_html_header through acquisition form foo.py? I've tried HEADER=self.standard_html_header() It acquires, but gives me an error on title_or_id, on PARENTS, on whatever. sort=id, _.map, _.lambda woes

Hi all! I need the following: <dtml-in "store.fileValues()" sort=id> where "id" is a filename representing a number. Of course, sort uses it like a string and sorts it wrong. Maybe, since sortexpr= is not implemented (yet?) I could get away with: <dtml-in "_.map(_.int,store.fileValues())" sort=id> but _.map doesn't exist (nor _.lambda. Why?) What is the Right Thing to do? I already know the easy answer (external method) :-) Of couse I cannot add an order property to the file objects, as they're in LocalFS. 2.2b3 and INSTANCE_HOME problem

Using the instructions at http://www.zope.org/Members/4am/instancehome on how to run multiple zopes with the same install, I semi-successfully have two instances of 2.2b3 running. However, when I run them, I get the following traceback for XMLDocument (INSTANCE_HOME is /home/zopdev/zope in this case): 2000-07-01T04:37:22 ERROR(200) Zope Couldn't install XMLDocument Traceback (innermost last): File /usr/local/zope-2.2b3/lib/python/OFS/Application.py, line 467, in install_products (Object: ApplicationDefaultPermissions) (Info: XMLDocument) File /home/zopedev/zope/Products/XMLDocument/__init__.py, line 102, in initialize File /usr/local/zope-2.2b3/lib/python/App/ImageFile.py, line 110, in __init__ IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/usr/local/zope-2.2b3/lib/python/Products/XMLDocument/xml_element.gif' It's not looking in the right place for the image file in XMLDocument. You can see that if found the XMLDocument product in INSTANCE_HOME/Products (of course, or it wouldn't have tried to install it in the first place). I get other IOErrors when I try to add or manipulate objects where Zope is looking in the wrong place for dtml files or whatever. Everything works as far as I can tell when browsing the site itself.
