Many methods use: if REQUEST is not None: do something: e.g. redirect or return In this case, you simply do not pass REQUEST. If you find a method that is not conditional on "REQUEST", use "dtml-call". This will discard the return value and should work, unless the code raises an exception. Maybe "try/except" can be used to handle the exception. Dieter

Another Digest Complaint

Zope mailing list digests are a real pain! My latest bad experience: * on Jul 20, the digest contained a message from Felipe E Barousse Boue * I answered it on Jul 20 * today, the digest contained my answer and *AFTER* my answer Felipe's message *AGAIN*. I often realize that digests contain messages out of order, e.g. where the answer precedes the question. This is very confusing. PLEASE update mailman! As someone in the list told us, the current mailman version works much better than the (apparently) old version used for the Zope mailing lists. Dieter

Greetings once again, This is the start of the Widget Framework for Zope. http://www.zope.org/Members/TheJester/WiFLZ/ It's an attempt at building something for re-use slightly more cohesive than methods and documents, and slightly less cohesive than Products and ZClasses. README Excerpt: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ WiFLZ is a dtml widget framework for Zope. If you are a programmer, you will probably hate it. It's not called ZWiFL because I was sick of things starting with Z d8) Summary ======= o Widgets consist of; - header, body, and footer dtml, - optional arguments for the dtml template, - sql query, - optional arguments for the sql template, and - description field for built-in 'help' facility. o Widgets can be tested from the management interface. o Widgets can be ZODB backed, DB backed, or both. o Widgets can be optionally rendered to a DB effectively caching widget states, which is useful for slow changing, or time consuming things such as reports. o Cached Widgets have a configurable TTL. o DB Backed widgets can be grouped into different libraries, and can be called from specific libraries allowing test widgets to be setup without compromising production widgets. o DB Backed widgets can be edited from any Zope installation with access to the DB. Purpose ======= This is part of a broader system for site design still under development. Zope currently lacks a mid level 'reuse' facility, reuse is limited to very fine grained (individual methods, and documents), or very coarse grained (products) elements. Content managers also like to be able to 'build' components that can be used in different parts of the site, and they like to be able to 'hold' those components. I figured out what was wrong. I wasn't giving all of the required parameters to manage_copyObjects() and manage_pasteObjects(). Evidently for both to work they need the REQUEST parameters set. Here's the calls I got to work: COPY: <dtml-call "manage_copyObjects(REQUEST['ids'],REQUEST)"> -- ids are a checkbox selection from the form (ie: <input type="checkbox" name="ids:list" value="&dtml-id;"> ) PASTE: <dtml-call "manage_pasteObjects(_.None, REQUEST)"> __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Anyone built a classifieds or review product?

On my list of products that I would like to build / help build ZCLassifieds: A product that allows users to post classifieds for sale with categories, pictures, start and end dates, email contacts, etc. Could be anonymous or require a log in that plays upon the strengths of Zope. ZReview: A generic review product that allows people to post reviews of "things" and have other people comment on the review. A lot of what is in Zope Treasures but maybe with pictures etc. Has anyone starting building these, need these, or would be interested in helping build these? J

Couldn't you do something similar to Squishdot's "validArticle" dtml method? Russian Python and Zope User Group

Hello! Russian-speaking Python and Zope User Group is happy to announce its site http://zope.net.ru/ Our biggest achivement is that we are alive and doing well! We are the small but active group of Python and Zope users from all over Russia, CIS and ex-USSR. Our site has three main sections: About, Python and Zope, plus the first page and imported news. The first section, About, presents our group and give details of our mail-list. This is small section, and we plan to automatically update the number of maillist subscribers. Python section is even smaller now. We plan to put documentation there, including russian translations. The biggest section of the site is Zope. We already have good introductory materials, FAQ, news. We plan to add documentation and special demos. The very special part of the site is imported news. We import news from "friendly" sites such as AppWatch, FreshMeat, Linux Weekly News etc. The whole site is a big demo by itself. Visitors can view DTML code of every page and subobjects. Few people asked to download exported version and I provided them (after removing passwords of editors). worldpilot and communigate pro

I came across communigate pro which is a multiplatform IMAP server ( www.stalker.com ). I've set it up under Win32, and tried to connect to it using a new installation of worldpilot. The IMAP port is at 143. However, it doesn't recognise my IMAP userid and password. Does anyone know if this combination ( NT, Communigate, worldpilot) works? Updating a Product...

Hi, I am editting a product (changing html tags in caps, altering '<!--#var...' syntax in '<dtml-var...' etc. etc.). I do this for better understanding. To activated an adapted product, I delete the product and restart Zope... There must be another (better) way.
