URL of ZClass factory?

Hello, how can I get the URL of the factory of a ZClass, when I am inside an instance of that ZClass? I don't want to hard code it. The HTML source of manage_main of my ZClass looks like: <input type="hidden" name=":method" value="manage_addProduct/testProduct2/myFolder_factory" /> How can I get that value string dynamically? Or even better: Are there properties which store 1. the name (id) of the product the instance I'm in belongs to, 2. the name (id) of the ZClass the instance belongs to (not the meta_type!), 3. the id of the factory (this isn't so important though, 'cause it's just "id + '_factory'", isn't it?) Hopefully, somebody can help me here, as I couldn't find any hints anywhere... Hopefully I understand the problem here... Correct me if I am wrong. Part of the problem with acquisition is that if propertyItems() exists within person's namespace it will only render within that, meaning that unless propertyItems() itself harvests properties from other areas above person in the acquisition stack, acquisition won't help here. What I have done in the past is create, recursively, flat property registries returning dictionaries, with underlying logic using getPhysicalPath() and restrictedTraverse(); one method recursively builds a stack of the hierarchy using getPhyicalPath and custom logic to determine where to stop in the hierarchy, turns the stack into a queue, and then returns it; another method then walks that path (as a queue) to get all properties in the path, provided there are no name collisions for those properties, and returns them all as a big dictionary... I haven't done this with properties, but data stored in several ParsedXML docs, but the same idea should apply. Not entirely graceful (or as magic as acquisition), but it works. Probably the 'correct' way to do all this is to not catch the exception but to modify your standard_error_message to display the right thing when this exception is encountered. That way, IIRC, Zope will take care of aborting the transaction for you. cheers, Chris

If you say: person.propertyItems() In an external method, you get ONLY the properties of person, not any properties that person "inherits" by acquisition. How do you access the "inherited" properties? Thanks. Problem with Zope!!!..................Pravin

Recently I downloaded Zope and am in the process of learning it. I am working out the Zope book. Here is what I have installed: Zope 2.4.3 (binary release, win 32) Python 2.1 (MSC 32 bit Intel) System win 32 (Win 98 Second Edition) Problem I Face: I am currently working with Chapter 5 of the Zope Book (Creating Basic Zope Applications). In it for navigation I created the DTML method navigation in the ZopeZoo folder. That called all the folders properly. I have a link for navigation (using dtml-var) in the standard-html-header. Then I created the index_html file in the ZopeZoo folder. In it I called standard-html-header. Now the links of the navigation are not shown. If I include a line like <p>This is a trial</p> in the navigation object that will be shown, but not the navigation panel. Then I created another DTML document called html_header in the ZopeZoo folder with dtml-var navigation. It works. Then when I call that in my index_html again no nagivation bar. Can anyone let me know what the problem is or if I am doing anything wrong. Thank you. Pravin

form arrays?

When I add an onclick=window.open to my form, the entire form array is presented in REQUEST, rather than just "this" form that was clicked. Just "this" form is presented without the javascript. How can I get the selected color of just the product I clicked on? How does the addition of javascript change the "post" of the form from "this" (clicked) form to the entire array of forms on the page?

Problem when using Z SQL Method and URL named field

Hello, I don't know what/ and if this is correct, but perhaps somebody can check for me. I have a MySQL database connection with ZMySQLDA, and have the following table. CREATE TABLE BusinessName ( BusID int(11) DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL auto_increment, BusinessName varchar(40), CompanyInfo text, NoEmployees int(11), Turnover int(11), URL varchar(35), Status int(2) DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (BusID) ) Here is my Z SQL Method insert into BusinessName (BusinessName, CompanyInfo, NoEmployees, Turnover, URL, Status) values ('<dtml-var BusinessName>', '<dtml-var CompanyInfo>', '<dtml-var NoEmployees>', '<dtml-var Turnover>', '<dtml-var URL>', '<dtml-var Status>') The problem is that URL appends the path of where the object is based, to the url address I type, so that I get this:- SQL used: insert into BusinessName (BusinessName, CompanyInfo, NoEmployees, Turnover, URL, Status) values ('dfsfdfs', 'dsfsdfasf', '12', '1', 'http://this-address.net//Tutorials/Zope_MySQL/methods/insert2/manage_test', '1') So how do I resolve this? Without having to rename the field name. HELP! My Zclass just disappeared and I am getting *weird* console errors!

Zopisitas, I have been working on a ZClass based product for the past month or so - somehow I just clicked the wrong button combination (I was adjusting 'views' mappings) and my zclass is no longer addable via the factory. Instead, I get the following error: Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'EZPortal' is not defined This occurs when I try to add the zClass via the zope dropdown. Furthermore, the console started spitting errors. This happened before and I had to delete and recreate Zclasses to get them to function properly. However, now I have many child Zclasses, and many more methods complete - so deleting is not an option. I have checked and rechecked everything; permissions, factories, methods - everything is configured correctly but I simply can't add. This is a complex Zclass-based system and I have *many, many* hours into it. If anyone has any idea on what possibly could be wrong I would be very, very grateful. I have a 2 zwiki sites with site2 as a child of site1 I do this to inherit the look and feel of site1. Now site2 does not contain standard_wiki_header etc. Instead it inherits this from site1. This is good - and works. Infortunately this standard_wiki_header calls a python script object at the same level as itself (ie site1) Now briefly, site2 continued to work calling this method. I then played around with security settings to not allow annonymous access to either site, and also added extra users and roles to create greater security for site2. At this point site2 could not access the python script as before - even when logged on as superuser will all permisions. Calling a DTML Method from within an External Method
