Using FTP to connect to Zope server from (g)VIM

Hi all, My intellect was piqued recently by a discussion on the list about editors for Zope etc. I remember some people saynig that VIM was good, to which my response was, 'Yeah but there's no FTP built in'. Someone then responded with a few scripts to do it. Well I thought they were a bit cumbersome, so I wrote my own. ftpopen.py and ftpsave.py. If you have a VIM executable with Python support built in then these run from within VIM and allow you to open/save file from/to Zope seamlessly. (I have them on a menu in GVIM for instance) I'll put the files up on my Zope Members bit (http://www.zope.org/Members/philh) along with a few instructions. If anybody can think of any enhancements then please let me know and I'll see if I can work them in. I hope these will be useful to someone. See ya Phil phil.harris(a)zope.co.uk

Silly send mail problem

Hi all, I had a sendmail problem, whenever I send out a mail from zope, it always contain an empty "To" ,"From" and "Subject", but I was able to get the body of the mail, anyone got this problem before ?? I'm using Zope 2.1.6 on NT and the mail server is from Lotus, and the form processor syntax as below : <dtml-sendmail smtphost="mail.xyz.com" mailto="wai(a)xyz.com" mailfrom="wai(a)xyz.com" Subject="Testing from my machine"> mail body </dtml-sendmail> Thanks. Yes, as you can already get what you want: When you uncheck the acquire checkbox, you can explicitly control (locally) which roles have the respective permission independant of any setting higher up in the hiararchy. Zope training in NW-Europe?

We want to train a couple of our web-developers on Zope, so that they can structure websites the "Zope-way", help in setting up content management structures for customers, etcetera. As we're a bit short on training resources ourselves, does someone give Zope training in or near The Netherlands? If not near .NL, would someone be willing to share (against a fee, of course) training materials? WebDrive vs Zope?

While reading chapter 3 of Dieter Maurers "Building Dynamic WebSites with Zope" (a fine piece of work, btw!), I followed the reference to WebDrive (a product mapping anything accessible by ftp or by webdav to drive letters, i.e. into the file system on windows) and gave it a try. ftp works reasonably well with Zope, but I couldn't get the webdav support (i was looking for) to work. It connects successfully. but displays an empty drive, afterwards. I can create documents there (which indeed arrive intact in Zope), but that's it - there is no way to see any of the existing files or folders at all! This behaviour is independent of whether I log in using an id with manager rights or anonymously. In the latter case, I can't create any files, of coures. Before digging deeper into it, I'd like to ask whether any of you has any hints. As it seems, it works for some people. Tres Seaver recommended WebDrive in http://groups.yahoo.com/group/zope/message/51235 for example. (I'm using WebDrive 3.0 with a almost fresh Zope 2.3.1b1 installation on win2000, btw.) -- ws

It will not work in DTML, but in an external Python Method: you take your DTML string (stored in the database) and create a document template object from it. You then render (call) this object. For how, you do all that, you should look at the "DocumentTemplate" package in your Zope distribution. Most relevant "DT_String.py" and "DT_HTML.py". Dieter

(no subject)

Hi, I am searching for an easy way to upgrade some thirty squishdot sites from version 0.3.2 to 0.7.3. The reason behind all this is that I want to migrate an existing site frome Zope 2.1.6. to Zope 2.2.2. I exported my site from 2.1.6 and imported it in 2.2.2. Then, I tried to be clever and copied all items in the root folder of a newly installed squisdot site (with version 0.7.3) to replace the content of an old 0.3.2-site (residing now in my new Zope install 2.2.2.). Well, it did not work out. Can anybody give me a clue how to go about this upgrade? I tried some idea's, but to no avail. Problem starting zope on Win98

I have installed zope on a 500mhz laptop with 64MB. When I run start.bat the server, ftp and pcgi comes up but when I type http://192.168.0.11:8080 (my ip address:80) or http://localhost:8080 or http://green:8080 (machine name) I get can't find server. Don't know if this is relevant but start.bat brings up a command window, runs the python program (outputting host names and ports for the three 'services') and douse not return to the dos prompt. I assume this is because it is not ruining in background in the same way it douse on NT.
