Deleting objectreferences

Hi, I use a class in my Product to make LDAP-queries : ------------------ class LDAP_Search: def __init__(self,res): ..... ## and use it in def search_LDAPuser(self, uid): # open a connection l=ldap.open(LDAP_SERVER,LDAP_PORT) # search all users lst=l.search_s(LDAP_BASE_DN,ldap.SCOPE_SUBTREE,"uid=*",["uid","cn"]) # create a List of u_lst=[] for i in lst: u_lst.append(LDAP_Search(i)) return u_lst ---------------------- and I use it with <dtml-in> tags for different Forms. After /Control_Panel/manage_debug I have many thousend objectreferences to instances of this object. I don't know whats the trouble. Don't want to store these objects. (at start, ZOPE tryes to load the objects from the DB). My question is, what is bad at this code? , is there a way to find out, what referes to this objects or/and how to delete them from the DB? How do you track if somebody leaves your site..?

If they type an URL in the "location" bar of their browser, you're out of luck as far as detecting exactly what that URL was. Then, the meta-refresh* idea can be applied to re-direct to the final destination, which would have been passed as a parameter of the original link. You could also use a true HTTP redirect: <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('finalURL')"> where 'finalURL' is a <dtml-var> representing the destination URL. You might also want at look at Petru Paler's ClickTracker: "This product logs clickthroughs to foreign (or local) URLs in a SQL database. MySQL on 2.3.0

Hi, I'm still having no luck getting the aggregate functions to work on Solaris. Can someone help me figure out how to debug this? When I run "select count(*) from users" the server drops the connection. I've tried logging before and after 'apply' and found that that's where it dies. The DA is running the query and returning the result , but any count/sum/average functions cause it to die when it's being rendered. How can I print the contents of {self.id:result} to compare * vs. count(*)? Please help!! Zi18N product/add its document object

Hi! Anyone has worked with Zi18N product? I cannot add zi18n_document object at all. But it seems work with "howdy" example when I renamed the document object. However, I still cannot add new zi18n_document object in this folder any way. Thank you for any suggestion! Pattreeya.

I don't know Paradox, but you might want to turn on error logging to help you. In WindowsNT, I select Data sources(ODBC32) under the control panel. Then, look at the tracing tab. That will let you turn it on. I was able to connect to the odbc source via Excel, even after the testing. : upload from linux machine

hi, I will create a file using python method and it will be in root directory of Linux. Now I would like to add it to Zope as a file. file means as we add from "Add available Objects"(here it will ask us to browse from windows machine.) I would like to add by writing Dtml method.(it must take from the Linux machine.) How to do that. subrahmanya.

setting properties - some basic questions

Hello I have been studying Caseman's excellent How-To ideas for clean handling of Javascripts in Zope: http://www.zope.org/Members/Caseman/client_script_howto [Thank You!] So now I have a boolean property 'admin' for my site folders and DTMLDocuments. When admin is 'ON' various Methods are rendered on the pages some simple <dtml-if> statements such as: <dtml-if admin> admin = <dtml-var admin> <dtml-var showjavascripts> <dtml-else> admin is OFF </dtml-if> Please, can anyone teach me how to: Q1. set 'admin' on or off by a button on the same page? Q2. set 'admin' on or off by a button on another page? Q3. toggle 'admin' to its oppposite state via a button? Q4. perform 1, 2, 3 above via a DTML/Python method I can call from anywhere? ..my documents also have a 'scripts' property [type = 'Lines']. 'scripts' lists the names of various javascript functions wrapped as DTMLmethods. Q5. How can I edit the text in different lines of such a a property? This is my 'showjavascripts' DTMLmethod: The script properties of this DTMLdocument are: <dtml-in scripts> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-in> #note: scripts is a type='lines' property as above Q6. How do to create and set a property for whole lot of documents using DTML and/or Python? For example, I have a folder 'NEWARTISTS' and I want to add 'admin' and 'scripts' properties for all documents and folders within those... Q7. How to make this all work so that qualified users can login into 'admin' pages inside certain folders which will then turn 'on' the admin property flag automatically for everythign below that? Presumably 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 will all use 4... I imagine this is all incredibly simple, but I need a little help to reach the aaha!! moment :-) +FINALLY, I have want to apply the same approach setting 'scripts' and 'admin' for index_html, but since it is a method it has no properties. If I apply 'scripts' and folder properties it to its parent folder it will then apply to everyhting below there by acquisition. This is handy but often I need finer grained control than that. Changing index_html to be a DTMLdocument does not work. Any suggestions for Thinking Zope here? Method invocation.

Hi there. I'm just a newbie in this environment so I'm having lots of questions about how does this work. What I think I know is the following: 1: The method called by Zopen when it creates an object/product is declared at the file named __init__.py at that products directory. My problem is: 2: The problem I'm having several times is that from that method I'm having trouble to call another one, if this other is a DTMLFile(). I have no problem calling another method defined by def. What I don't know: How to debug a situation like this. I'm having another problem with method invocation a little bit like this and I can't debug it. I think my problem has to do with the environment but I'm not sure and I don't know how to figure it out. I've even included my own file with the import statement but even that doesn't work. I've created other products without having this problem and, aparently, I've done it the same way. I know this isn't a very clear explanation of my problem. Yes. Both of these mechanisms can only be made robust by controlling which namespace will staisfy namespace search. That means not relying on the fact that a name will not be found in an 'uncontrolled' namespace. I posted a patch on this list a while back, which used a __getattr__ hook to list all the names which were being looked up, but not found, in the zope root object. The output is listed at http://www.zope.org/Members/htrd/names. Try creating a property under one of those names and see what breaks. (this list was created with 2.2.x. several patches to fix such issues have been merged since then) There are several solutions to this problem: for dtml, switch to a different language for any non-trivial logic. for acquisition, 2.3.0 introduced a __replaceable__ attribute that adds protection to a name inside a containment heirarchy. This is a good start, but not yet a total solution.
