HowTo: The DTML NameSpace HowTo: http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/HowTos/NameSpaceHow-To Those are all good questions; however I think you will be able to find all of the answers you need at the above links. I also think you will get a better fundamental understanding of how Zope works and the various mechanisms/ways to go about programming in Zope after reading the above material. I'm certainly not trying to steer you away from asking questions to the mailing list; sometimes it is easier and quicker to point to documentation rather than give a cursory answer. sendmail problem

I am trying to use the dtml-sendmail tag but it is failing to cooperate. I have tried various combinations of writing the sender and mail content but i either get an error message Error type: TypeError Error value: len() of unsized object which traces back to the python smtp and rfc822 modules when i write the recipient as "To: scheirich(a)nulleins.at". On the other hand i recieve an empty email-message when i use the mailto="scheirich(a)nulleins.at" parameter which arrives correctly but has undisclosed-recipients and no content. I have tried the email address in various forms <> delimited, no delimiters, ... I am using 2.3b1 with hot fix, but i had the same problem with 2.3 Any hints anybody ? Harald Scheirich

Fine by me. Hmmm. I wonder if putting the Zope Book in a /Documentation folder isn't a bad idea. IIRC, both Apache and IIS ship with a Manual in the install. Hello I can tell you my personal experience: I found Zope for chanche, had no clue about Python, read the Python tutorial, read the Zope book, in two afternoons I wrote a simple agenda application, tested XML in another afternoon, and while munching my sandwich I got interfaced to java, scrambled with perl and I was hacking my Oracle instance like I always used zope..... I am sorry you missed the Zope book, but I wouldn't say that zope is difficult to learn....it is true however that for advanced tricks the documentation is lacking, but I have just watched this list and always found answers to my questions even without posting.... Tree tag and namespaces

In July of last year, Charlie Wilkinson had the same question as I have now: http://zope.nipltd.com/public/lists/zope-archive.nsf/ByKey/528BD6EFC503F1D5 He wanted to write an own dtml method for the tree tag which returns a user specified list of objects. He had the problem that calling that method with the tree tag always raised an attribute error about REQUEST. Rik Hoekstra found a workaround for that: http://zope.nipltd.com/public/lists/zope-archive.nsf/ByKey/2F50BD09CCEB1C9F This did not really work. Dieter Maurer added: http://zope.nipltd.com/public/lists/zope-archive.nsf/ByKey/C880B00E8C179B6D where he uses an own local namespace. So REQUEST is banned. But you urgently have to use objectValues or something, and that raises the same error! Hello all, I'm new to Zope, and reading as voraciously as I can the breadcrumbs, FAQs, and the online book. I'm also up against a timeline, a week to be exact, to compare/contrast Zope with an IIS/Delphi solution. Would someone point me to the correct RTFM or FAQ to go about doing the equivalent of javascript image rollovers? Thanks!

Ok. My last comment on productizer. At the moment I see no problems in implementing the following scenario: >1. SomeClass.py >( contains the actual functionality ) > >2. Everything related to Zope integration is encapsulated in this proxy class. This is not current Product ( less flexible ) but this is also not a component as well has GUI ). This is Zope Bean. Such beans should be extremely easy to create, comparing to current Product magic. Now I have to understand how persistency and other things work, but I think that this design can work. I may implement it occasionaly and then we'l see. Comments welcome. Rgds.Paul.
