Help regarding databse & variable management

Hello, I have a problem in database connectivity in Zope with Postgres. If anybody can help me in this regard please reply asap. I want to insert a row into a tabel, get a unique id from the table and make another entry into another table.I am able to insert into the forst table and retrieve the unique ID. But while trying to insert into the next table, it says no value for the unique id retireved. Expecting a solution. Reagrds, George __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? And brushing aside Reg's further protestations he went up to look. The bathroom was not large. The walls were panelled in old oak linenfold which, given the age and nature of the building, was quite probably priceless, but otherwise the fittings were stark and institutional. There was old, scuffed, black-and-white checked linoleum on the floor, a small basic bath, well cleaned but with very elderly stains and chips in the enamel, and also a small basic basin with a toothbrush and toothpaste in a Duralex beaker standing next to the taps. Screwed into the probably priceless panelling above the basin was a tin mirror-fronted bathroom cabinet. It looked as if it had been repainted many times, and the mirror was stained round the edges with condensation. The lavatory had an old-fashioned cast-iron chain-pull cistern. There was an old cream-painted wooden cupboard standing in the corner, with an old brown bentwood chair next to it, on which lay some neatly folded but threadbare small towels. There was also a large horse in the room, taking up most of it. Richard stared at it, and it stared at Richard in an appraising kind of way. Richard swayed slightly. The horse stood quite still. After a while it looked at the cupboard instead. It seemed, if not content, then at least perfectly resigned to being where it was until it was put somewhere else. It also seemed... what was it? It was bathed in the glow of the moonlight that strearned in through the window. The window was open but small and was, besides, on the second floor, so the notion that the horse had entered by that route was entirely fanciful. There was something odd about the horse, but he couldn't say what. Well, there was one thing that was clearly very odd about it indeed, which was that it was standing in a college bathroom. One of the differences between running a method from the trigger tab and from the Dispatcher is permissions. At the trigger tab, the method runs with your permissions; when fired from the Dispatcher, the method runs as Anonymous User. You must us "proxy roles" to give the method sufficient permissions to do what you want it to do. If the Sheduled Time is advancing as planned, the Dispatcher is firing the event. It's hard to imagine how it could fire the event but not make an entry in the log. As I say, maybe there's another parameter to FastCgiExternalServer which does it, but I haven't found it. The problem is the way HTTP Auth was designed. According to the HTTP specification, the browser only needs to send credentials after having received a 401 (Unauthorized) HTTP response code from the server, and only for that one request. The idea is that HTTP is stateless, so each and every request the browser makes would be met with a 401 response, and then the browser would send the credentials in a second request, and finally the server would validate the credentials and respond with the data. Now this is rather slow (2 requests for every page), so most browsers have optimized their implementation by automatically sending credentials for any URL below a URL the server required authentication for, on the first request. What this means is you can sort of work around you problem by having people log into your site in the root. A login method in the root of your site will work for this. The other solution is to use cookie based authentication. Hi Henny, I've just finished my final year university project, which aimed to investigate the use of Zope in educational insitutions and create a useful product. I study at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, Scotland) and from what I gather, there are some people here that are quite keen to see Zope deployed. One of my fellow students undertook a similar project, called ZEALOUS, which had similar goals but his product was a Web course development tool allowing lecturers to maintain a class Web page, and provide student with tailoired personal homepages. If you are looking for any more information feel free to ask. I'm pretty sure that my project supervisor, Duncan Smeed, would be quite entertaining if you had any questions relating to Zope's future at the University of Strathclyde. I know of two other major projects already fully(?) developed and employed in the UK. MediGuides - A MediGuide is a learning resource containing study guides, links to course material (e.g. Word documents), online multiple-choice questionnaires, timetable information and other forms of CAL (Computer-Aided Learning) resources. For every course taught there is a corresponding MediGuide. Personal Academic Record (PAR) - Personal Academic Records will improve student / teacher communication and will encourage students to monitor their academic progress. Each MediGuide will contain self-evaluation tests and a student / teachers email system to facilitate this. The student's assessment data will be stored in the PAR and made available for viewing by both the student and the teacher. SATURN - The SATURN system is responsible for storing the student's personal data, examination marks and any other relevant administrative data. Site with theme [newbie]

[newbie] Hello, After a long search I didn't find the right way to do this : I have differents folders in my site, with subfolders, such as : /en /web /contact /links /info /fr /work /about /links All those folders have a file arbitrary called "content.txt". It's the textual content of each page. In the root there is a file called template.html which calls the file "content.txt". I also have one index_html which calls template.html. Because I didn't want to have my template in two separate files (header and footer). Now, I'd like to have differents themes for my site. Such as having : www.domain.com/theme1/en/web would display the content of "en/web" with the template.html file in theme1 www.domain.com/theme2/en/web would display the content of 'en/web" with the template.html file in theme2 But it doesn't work... There is something in acquisition that I don't understand. Either I get the content of my root folder (yes, this is a subsite in a subfolder), or I get the same content wherever I go. What should I put in each theme folder? Where should I put my index_html file? Is it a bad idea to get rid of standards footer and headers files and replacing them with template.html? Is there any other way to do this? A siteaccess rule? (if possible, I'd like to do this only by using a "feature" of acquisition...) I found no tutorial on this, so any pointer welcome ! I have taken this demo out of the site (since it was not available in anyway) and ran 'wget' extensively (I started 100 threads running a recursive wget). Problem with checking roles an authenticated user has

Hi, I have a site which includes a members area. When a member logs in, extra features are made available on all pages compared to a non-member. The problem is that sometimes the authenticated_user test I use does not come back true once someone has logged in. This problem does not occur all the time or with any particular page. It is being very unpredictable! This is the dtml-if (placed in the standard_html_header) I use to check... <dtml-if "AUTHENTICATED_USER.has_role('a_member') or AUTHENTICATED_USER.has_role('Manager')"> Any ideas what my problem could be?
