This construct seems to work: <dtml-in "portal_catalog.searchResults( {'meta_type' : 'News Item' ,'Subject': 's1' ,'Subject': 's2'' ,'Subject': 's3' ,'Subject': 's4'} , sort_on='Date' , sort_order='reverse' , review_state='published' )" size="10"> seems to return something that has Subject keywords s1 AND s2 AND s3 AND s4 (and in this example, meta_type=='News Item') -- unless I'm not testing it correctly! Feedback?

Ok, I've looked for this in documentation, but couln't find it. Also, I have tried a number of variing syntaxes, but to no avail. What I'm trying to do is code a DTML if statement that tests two conditions: <dtml-if this && that> Do this </dtml-if> Actually, I want to do this in an <dtml-unless>, so I guess whatever the syntax is, it will be the same for both (if's and unless) Anyone out there that knows this syntax? Newbie Acquisition Question

Hi, I've just got a quick question on acquisition... In my root folder, I have my index_html which contains, amongst other things: <td colspan="2"> <dtml-var contentPanel> </td> In the root folder, I have another DTML method called contentPanel, which is correctly displayed when I view the root folder. Now, under the root folder, I have the following folder structure: / `SiteUsers/ `Dan/ SiteUsers is empty, except for Dan; Dan contains a single DTML Method called contentPane. When I view localhost:8080/SiteUsers/Dan/ I would expect the contentPane from SiteUsers/Dan to be displayed (ie. index_html is being acquired by the Dan folder, but since there is a contentPanel in the Dan folder, that should 'override' the one in the root folder). However, I am getting the contentPane from the root folder. This is a namespace issue - how do I force Zope to use the correct namespace? My understanding was that all name resolution started at the place specified from the URL, and then worked back 'up' the tree... My experience here shows this is true, but the search URL always 'starts' from the object 'doing' the acquisition (index_html in this case) - hence the contentPane in Dan/ isn't being used. FS Photo product

No this is not an announcment. Rather the opposite. I believe I've heard about a version of the Photo product that saves the images on the filesystem. Am I right, is there such a product? Where? My current problem is that my Photos in zope take are so big that I have problems copying folders and can with a little pain back it all up. I bet there are advantages with storing the big binary content on the Linux instead of the ZODB. Hej hej, Peter

How to give caller acquisition path to an object through python script ?

Hi, Sorry for the previous post. It was obscure. So I'm rewording it. I's not possible to expose my problem with a simple phrase. So I'll write down an example: I got a "main" DTML method that contains: -- DTML method "main" -- ... <dtml-var "getobject(somearg)"> ... --------------------------- "getobject" is a python script that finds a Zope object (DTML method or document) depending on "somearg". -- Python script "getobject" -- # find someobject depending on "somearg" ... return someobject(context) ----------------------------- The problem is that "someobject" renders using the acquisition path of the FOLDER that contains "main" I want the "someobject" to use the acquisition path of the "main" DTML object rather than the one of it's folder. Keep it simple; I don't think a non-python and/or non-free solution would mesh well enough for new users of Zope, supposing that all of the sudden, it became a popular tool for GUI-based enterprise applications. Uh, if you are going to create a framework of python classes to do UI stuff, why base it on a foundation of Kylix? Its not true x-platform at all and even if you used it to create a "free" (whatever that means) toolkit you just add library bloat by having to support toolkits on top of toolkits on top of toolkits, none of which are free. I love Python enough to not want to move away from coding in it, even for a GUI app. I want Borland-style RAD to do this, but I'm willing to wait until I get it free, and in Python (i.e. Boa-Constructor). In the meantime, I can code in wxPython, and have nice looking apps with themed GTK widgets displayed under X, and expect that all this will run on Win32 as well - all at no cost to me as a developer (money doesn't grow on trees, for me at least) and no cost to users as well. I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by an application as a toolkit? That doesn't make sense to me: function libraries are toolkits; class libraries are toolkits. Running all this within an app sounds like the functional equivalent of running GW basic code under DOS on a 8086: you are forced to run apps inside an interpreter, there is no runtime, and this is not transparent to the user. Why force this kind of complication? To produce an IDE that won't create standalone applications, let alone ones that use simple, freely available toolkits? FYI, Inprise EULAs forbid creating competing products; for example, during the days when Borland marketed Paradox, they explitly forbit Delphi developers from using the BDE to create general-purpose database app workalikes to Borland products. Anyway, this is making the problem more complex than it needs to be; the only value Kylix has is as a RAD tool; it has no value for creating toolkits for development without the closed RAD tool, so what's the point? But is the problem with server-side development? I wouldn't consider to do anything in Kylix on the server side. We are talking abount a GUI, which is the only reason to move away from Python at all. What I'm thinking of is: We can build a generic application using Kylix or Delphi, which has all the components in it, which are needed so far. They could be made higly configurable, and finally, that Kylix app would be like a toolkit, like wxPython is. It would be compiled once, and the executable would be freely available. Applications for this tool would then we written in Python, completely. The task would be just to write such an app, not too hard probably. Delphi is written in itself, as you know. I have already written some generic application with about 20 generic widgets, which are all configurable at runtime. And Delphi is able to produce .dfm files at runtime and to read them back in. It is so self-contained that it is somehow waiting to be stolen as a generic app framework. I'm wondering why nobody does it. Netscape Problems

Hi, I'm getting a bit suspicious about the number of times Netscape and Zope aren't playing together for me :-S Basically, on my desktop machine (WinNT 4, Netscape 4.74) I can't actually submit to any Zope sites. I click a form button but the browser just sits there with the N spinning and not doing anything. I thought that was just my machine, but now on this laptop (Win2000, Netscape 4.74) the same thing is happening. I'm also getting the problem wit hthe browser constantly redirecting in a very short loop. IIRC, this is 'cos it's trying to get a linked stylesheet where Netscape has a bug, so I disabled sylesheets in my management options, but I still get exactly the same problem :-( Has anyone else experienced any of the above and does anyone have any solutions? cheers, Chris

Markus, I've been spending a lot of time looking into exactly this. The short answer seems to be no. The long answer is: lots of folks have tried, all have given up (that I can tell so far). It seems it would require modifying the source for the tree tag, or figuring out (without documentation, just by reading the source) how to manipulate some of the tree variables, like tree-e. From the mail list archives I've read, it looks like we can't even be sure of how the tree will respond to these variables, since it's written to *set* them, not receive them already set. I haven't given up yet, so if I come up with anything better I'll let you (and the list) know. Hi, I know this is kinda OT and kinda cross-post, so sue me... hehe. You can't because I live in a land where sueing is as taboo as sex is in the US... Anyhow to the point. I have busted my balls for quite a long time now to get my company's website up and running... All in Zope. I'm pretty proud of it and I'd like to say thanks to all of you who have helped this newbie out with Zope 'the world's greatest hack'...
