hi, I'm doing a simple mail form according to a HOWTO on the zope site. When I submit the mail form I get: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: TypeError Error Value: len() of unsized object And am not sure why. It's pretty simple DTML and I understand it all. I'm using: Zope Version Zope 2.3.2 (source release, python 1.5.2, linux2) Python Version 1.5.2 (#0, Dec 27 2000, 13:59:38) [GCC 2.95.2 20000220 (Debian GNU/Linux)] System Platform linux2 Process Id 20502 (2051) Running For 19 days 2 hours 28 min 15 sec Thanks, j. ...................... ..... Ok, i know it is difficult to define how many people are active with zope, but i only wanted some numbers to show how the Zope community are increasing since zope is an open source. Of these 100 there are about 5 very active users and about 5-10 not so active. Of these 10 I am (probably) the only one subscribed to zope(a)zope.org. Dispensing with querystring?

I've got an application that has Urls like this: www.myzopesite.com/article?id=42 Is it possible to rewrite the 'article' object so that a Url like this => www.myzopesite.com/article/42.html <= will work? That is, I don't want 'article' to try to acquire '42.html' anywhere; I want it to process id=42. Any advice appreciated. Wade Leftwich Ithaca, NY

Zsyncer problem?

Hello, Just tried zsyncer, and let me tell you that this tool is great! However, it seems that there is a quite big security problem with the current version : if you place the zsyncer on a subfolder of root, it stills gives you the ability to sync root folders, and any subfolder, wether you have the rights to do so or not. It's not a problem if you are root, but else... False alert? I hope I explained the problem clearly enough... Something else : I'm not sure it's allways the right action to delete something which is on production and not on source ("extra this (red): object is on production but not development, it needs deleting from production"), for example, if it's user feedback, it would be cool to add those to the source server (for backups for instance), and would probably never need to be deleted. As I said, still the nicest product I found for zope. And this prove that xml-rpc is robust and fast. (I would say a *lot* faster than ftp for instance). Philippe Jadin www.123piano.com

how to install Sshell in Zope bindist

Hi, I guess, how to install the ZShell product into my Zope server. ZShell requires the 'Distutils' package to be installed as an addon to python. But the Distutils don't compile in the Zope/python bundle because of some missing files ('config' dir below /var/lib/zope/lib/python). Is there anyone out there, who can give me an 'bindist' of 'Distutils' which will work in the precompiled Zope 2.3.2 package? (I guess no one's interested, so I'm digging further.) It now appears from a Zope 2.3.0 source perusal that no one actually uses the standard_error_message DTML method -- a comment in HTTPResponse.py for the _error_html() method says # XXX could this try to use standard_error_message somehow? That leads me to believe that it's not officially supported. However, I do note that it must be used *somewhere*, because my standard_html_header and _footer get into the act somehow, and those are only invoked from standard_error_message. Then again, modifying standard_error_message to add some identifying marks (e.g., "Foo!") to see if it's being invoked don't result in those marks being visible. There's something very fishy here.
