Packaging a Zope app

Hi All, I'd like to be able to use Zope as a means of helping some of our locals on the client side (rather than using, say, Python & Qt or Tk or wxpython), and I have a question about it. What's the easiest way to set it up so that the person who's installing it doesn't have much work to do? Ideally, I'd like for them to download Zope & install it, which is pretty easy, then download my app, click a button, and have my app installed into Zope. Any suggestions? IE & DreamWeaver Timing Out on ls

Hello Zope-a-tiers, With IE and Dreamweaver, I keep getting timeouts on the directory listing after they login. It seems to be a windows client issue i thought, as on my freebsd workstation it is as fast as lightning. Here is what is running: Zope Version: Zope 2.3.2 (source release, python 1.5.2, linux2) Python Version: 1.5.2 (#1, May 22 2001, 15:55:27) [GCC egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs- System Platform: linux2 Ftp Server: Medusa Async V1.13 These errors do not make any sence, well at least to me now. I mean the server is obviously working, and I, of course, thought it was a client issue. Yet the error is the same on all the win2k pro workstations I try this from, so I am thinking it is a bigger problem, though I may be wrong :) Any help with this would greatly be appreciated, and I thank you in advance. Never mind about the skins comment, it's better to use my own skin, copy the file(s) I want to modify into my skin, and put my skin ahead of the default in the skin tool. My head wasn't screwed on right for a minute... OK, I think I can live with that. So all of your "code" is kept within skins? But what about using custom files like header and footers for a specific section of the site? Also, I have used properties of folders in the site to handle 'variables'. What are the best practices in that case? Strange "Undo" in modifier object and not in modified object. Bug or feature ?

Hi, I got a DTML document that changes the value of a property of a folder. It works correctly on Zope 2.3.3. What'a amazing is that the "Undo" of that transaction is logged in the Undo tab of the DTML document (that's not modified) and not in the Undo tab of the folder (which a property is modified). If I "undo" the transaction from the DTML document "undo" tab, it "undoes" the change of the property of the folder... Strange isn't it ? Is it a bug or a feature ? --Gilles

Hello! Because I'm missing some czech Zope portal and even some czech zope community, I would try to make some web. It should contain: * some translated news from zope.org * links and highlites of zope-related things * czech mailing list(s) * czech docs * czech zope-related software * maybe some space for members, etc. And now questions: - what do you think of such project, czech readers of this list? - whom should I contact to make this site mentioned on zope.org or is there some national coordinator? CVS/VSS - how are others doing it?

Hello, We taking the first steps towards using zope as an Intranet server. What is the best way to do file repository stuff - CVS/VSS? I know there is ZCVSMixin, however we are (primarily) a windows shop, and use Microsoft VSS. I do use teamdrive, which is able to mount an FTP/WebDav server to a drive letter, which I could then use with VSS, but as far as I know, using FTP/Dav does not preserver object properties. True? If not, and properties can be preserved, are there other issues with this? Thanks - Scott
