start script for freebsd?

Hello everyone, i am wondering if there is anyone out there that might be able to assist me in setting up a script to run Zope2.3.3 as a daemon on my freeBSD4.2 server. Hi folks... We've been moving into a new building this week and fell off the internet, I wasn't able to respond earlier. I've got two Sun Netra X1s (512 MB each) running Solaris 2.8 and Zope 2.4.0 and they seem to run reasonably fast. I don't have Redhat to compare with unfortunately. The setup I've got is Zope/Zserver on one machine but served to the world by Apache (using named VirtualHost/ProxyPass) on the other. It's probably not going to best khttpd for speed, but it's certainly more than enough for our needs. Is there any way we could benchmark these systems and compare? The terms "running slow" and "flys" don't really give you a frame of reference. The only thing I can compare with is that our site was originally static pages served by Apache with a tiny smidgen of browser-detect PHP code. These pages were lightning quick to load. Zope seems to serve them up only a tiny fraction of a second slower (for instance, I can see the image block a split-second before it fills in - whereas before the page would load in a "flash"). However, this is an unfair comparison as Zope is doing the browser detection and at least two SSI (header/footer). If it really is an issue, let's get to the bottom of it... =) Paul.

Actually, I've seen this one as well. Zope 2.4.0, with the hotfix, running on Win2k Server with an Apache front-end via rewrites. I've got a virtual host monster in root and siteroots at the roots of the vhost directories. Remember that your browser might cache a site with you logged in even if you are not any more and display it wrongly. If they were real Zope bugs, I am sure they would have been reported earlier ...

Text area problem

Hello all, I was wondering if someone can help me. I have a form with an text area. If someone puts a lot of text in the area the submit button does´t preform the given action. But if the person doesn´t enter to much text the form does preform the given action. The text area schould change a property of the type text. Can anyone explain why the form doesnt work with a lot of text in it? Or maby someone who experienced the same problem cn tell me how he/she solved it? Hope someone can help me!! James van der Veen

Acquiring parent objects through BTrees

Hello, I would like to know if it is possible for an object stored in a BTree to use acquisition to see its parent object (either the BTree itself or the object that holds the BTree). Class D, which wraps a BTree and implicit acquisition, lets the BTree see its parents, but an acquisition-enabled object placed in an acquisition-enabled BTree still can't see its parent. Any suggestions? Or is this a bad idea? Should I implement another mechanism? The number of objects stored in the BTrees in the final product is unlikely to be more than a few hundred, so another data type might work. Thanks, Joe
