If you create a new role "testers" and assign it to user1, user2 and user3, then giving the permission "Update" only to role "testers" in your test folders, you should implement what you want. So, you have a group via a role... Also the excellent Tracker (the one which never made it out of CVS) had problems with some image file links being broken. This was back in Febuary. I don't know if it has since been fixed. (off-topic) Apache front-end for Outlook Web Access?

While setting up Apache rewrites to my zope vhosts, I wanted to include a rewrite to act as a front-end for my outlook web access service by rewriting the url to the appropriate localhost port, as I'd done with zope. However, while it is capable of bringing up a login screen, it gives a server/dns error. I can access it directly, though of course that's the ugly way. Anyone know how to set this up? TIA -- Keith

Z SQL Method problems (at least one confirmed bug)

I *think* Z SQL Methods in Zope 2.4.0 are broken. I have a Z SQL Method (SELECT) with the following parameters: HostId DomainId Name IP and the following SQL: SELECT HostId, DomainId, RecordType, Name, IP, Distance, Target, TTL, StartEndTime, Location, Updated FROM Hosts <dtml-sqlgroup where> <dtml-sqltest HostId column="HostId" type=int optional> <dtml-and> <dtml-sqltest DomainId column="DomainId" type=int optional> <dtml-and> <dtml-sqltest Name column="Name" type=nb optional> <dtml-and> <dtml-sqltest IP column="IP" type=int optional> </dtml-sqlgroup> Note that all tested columns are optional. Using the Test tab, everything works correctly: If I leave off values, that portion isn't rendered. Now... I have a DTML Method which performs: <dtml-in SELECT mapping> ... </dtml-in> This bombs unless all the parameters are specified in form data. To diagnose this further, I hacked on Aqueduct.py a bit to return a bit more info on the error page: if missing: raise self.MissingArgumentError, (missing, args.items()) File /home/andy/Zope-2.4.0/lib/python/Shared/DC/ZRDB/Aqueduct.py, line 150, in _argdata (Object: SELECT) Bad Request: (['DomainId', 'Name', 'IP'], [('HostId', {}), ('DomainId', {}), ('Name', {}), ('IP', {})]) This shows that there is no 'optional' being set for these items. (Note in this particular case HostId was supplied, so it is not "missing".) If I have overlooked something blatently obvious, please let me know. But wait! There's more. Supposedly you are able to specify default values for parameters, i.e. spam="no" eggs="yes". DC.Shared.ZRDB.Aqueduct.parse() seems to be what is supposed to do this. However, it fails miserably. def parse(text, result=None, keys=None, unparmre=re.compile( r'([\000- ]*([^\000- ="]+))'), parmre=re.compile( r'([\000- ]*([^\000- ="]+)=([^\000- ="]+))'), qparmre=re.compile( r'([\000- ]*([^\000- ="]+)="([^"]*)")'), ): Why the regexes are there as default parameters is beyond me. Nothing in ZRDB seems to make use of that "feature". Defining those regexes in the body of the function does seem to make it work again, so this is certainly a bug. Interestingly, it also changes the error slightly on the first problem: Bad Request: (['DomainId', 'Name', 'IP'], [('HostId', {'default': '1'}), ('DomainId', {}), ('Name', {}), ('IP', {})]) Note that a default is now present (because I set one). For the record, I am using Python-2.1.1. Giant Blue Screen Tax (time to lose the border ?)

I came to the Interfaces wiki and immediately felt relieved. It is so much faster and more useful without the familiar blue signal-free zones top and left. In zope.org's lifetime I have almost never clicked on anything there (ok I use the top links and search field once in a while). If all blue zones vanished from zope.org overnight, or at least from the wiki pages, you'd see an upturn in wiki participation and general satisfaction with the site I reckon. I realize there might be one or two out of you there who don't agree.. :) How about making it an option ? User roles

I have created a role called SimpleOne with permissions only to manage and view dtml objects. On when user with this role logs on they see two other objects not assigned to him namely : ZODBC Database Connection and ZSearch Interface. How can I prevent the user from seeing those objects Thanks in Advance Karl Munroe

a question about role

I defined a role intended to allow my students to read the source code. After I log in with this role, called 'friend', I was able to read the PythonScript source, but not DTMLs which would be rendered. Even though I can get around this by providing them with 'viewsource', I am wondering how I can make the management interface display the source of DTMLs, rather than the randered pages. Any help is most highly appreciated. cheers, Luby
