Using FTP to connect to Zope server from (g)VIM

Hi all, My intellect was piqued recently by a discussion on the list about editors for Zope etc. I remember some people saynig that VIM was good, to which my response was, 'Yeah but there's no FTP built in'. Someone then responded with a few scripts to do it. Well I thought they were a bit cumbersome, so I wrote my own. ftpopen.py and ftpsave.py. If you have a VIM executable with Python support built in then these run from within VIM and allow you to open/save file from/to Zope seamlessly. (I have them on a menu in GVIM for instance) I'll put the files up on my Zope Members bit (http://www.zope.org/Members/philh) along with a few instructions. If anybody can think of any enhancements then please let me know and I'll see if I can work them in. I hope these will be useful to someone. See ya Phil phil.harris(a)zope.co.uk

It's very strange that one machine with IE5.0 works and one doesn't. Anyone else heard of something like this? As for the sluggishness, IE just gets fatter every time they rev it. But, so does Netscape for that matter. You probably need more RAM. Updating Squishdot

Hello! Hope anyone can tell me how I can update a Squishdot 0.3.2 (!) Site to 1.0.0 or 1.3.0 . If I follow the steps for updating described at http://www.squishdot.org/Documentation/upgrades.html then I would need to update... from 0.3.2 to 0.4.0 then from 0.4.0 to 0.4.1 then from 0.4.1 (directly) to 0.7.x then finaly from 0.7.x to 1.0.0. I would need the Version 0.4.0, 0.4.1, 0.7.x from Squisdot, don't I? But they no more on that Site! Could you please help me out? Thanx in advance Tran Huy Nguyen

Preventing download of Document object

Hi, I am customising a product (Document Library). Normally, when you select the URL of one of the Document objects the contents of the document (msword, pdf file etc) is downloaded by the web browser. I want to be able to limit access to the document so that, say, an anomynous user can view... www.myzopesite.org/doclib/Documents/doc/show_extract ....but not... www.myzopesite.org/doclib/Documents/doc ...where doc is an object of the Document class in question. I can use __ac_permissions__ to authorize what methods can/can't be accessed in the Document class but how do I enable certain methods whilst barring access to the file contents of the document itself? roxen with zope

Hi... on my way testing roxen i was wondering how i could use zope + virtualhostmonster with it. I was using apache with a rewrite rule RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://localhost:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.test.com:80/test.com/Virtual… [P] and i tried to do the same thing in roxen, adding the http relay module to a site and set a relay pattern: MATCH ^/(.*) CALL http://localhost:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.test.com:80/test.com/Virtual… which should to the same in my opinion. Well.. it doesn't. Pointing my browser to www.test.com i'll end up with getting nothing, the browser trying all the time to open something but it never gets an answer. roxen says, it got a request which matched the regex ^/(.*) but it doesn't seem to successfully connect to zope. Web stats

Greetings! I hope you can help me with this. This is for our marketing team. How do you get the webstats for a clustered server architecture? It's like this, we have Apache running as front-end for Zope. These are identical servers being load balanced. I thought for the easiest way, multiply the stats of one server by the total number of servers since they are load balanced. I laughed, they didn't. I guess they didn't understand it. :) Anyway, someone suggested using cluster trends. But that means opening an ftp port on every clustered server which means insecurity. Is there another way? Has anyone created their own stats script for apache or similar webservers? Something like hitbox? We used webalizer before. But since the load balancing, I cannot accurately get the stats for the websites. Please advice me on what to do with the dilemma of the marketing team. No, I can't make them resign. CST and disappearing variables

I'm running into what appears to be the same problem brought up by others several months ago regarding "random" disappearing of session variables under CoreSessionTracking. After combing through the archives, there didn't appear to be any definitive answer for the problems. I *think* my setup is fairly basic, but I can't figure out how to consistently reproduce the problem. In fact, *I* haven't been able to make it happen at all, but every 1-2 out of 10 orders ends up with an empty cart, and the customer clearly remembers their cart was not empty. I'm not using ZEO or anything fancy, just the RAM-based storage and cookies. I have the following setup for adding, updating, and viewing the cart: Python Script 'add': 'item' is a dictionary that is populated with simple numbers and strings. 'cart' is an array of 'items' and is stored like this: session = context.SDM.getSessionData() cart = session.get('cart', []) cart.append(item) session.set('cart', cart) Python Script 'update': A form passes in 'remove' as the cart index of the item to be removed: session = context.SDM.getSessionData() cart = session.get('cart', []) remove = REQUEST.form.get('remove', None) if remove is not None: del cart[remove] session.set('cart', cart) To place the items in a mail message for sending the order, I use the following simple Python Script and loop over it with dtml-in: session = context.SDM.getSessionData() return session.get('cart', []) This seems so simple, but seemingly randomly the above script returns [] instead of what is in the cart. There is another session variable (a dictionary 'custinfo') that is populated towards the end of the user's ordering process that has so far not been empty on any orders. I wish I could provide more, but I don't know what else to try. Maybe someone can see a flaw in the way I'm storing the cart that might cause CST to freak...like some persistence triggering problem or something like that. _______________________ Ron Bickers Logic Etc, Inc.

Problem passing parameters to a Python Script

I'm passing some paramters from an HTML form to a python script. I'm having trouble determining exactly which parameter is/isn't being passed to a python script. I get an error message saying "Zope Error" "Resource not found" along with a few troubleshooting suggestions -- but nothing else. Yes, I do know what the form is passing, and yes it does jive with the parameter list. Is something else going on? Is there a way to determine which parameter is causing the problem (i.e., get a more descriptive error message)? TIA, Ron
