Request for Proposal: developpement of a human resources management system in Brussels

Could be of interest to any of you. (For the French readers: this message is in English in order to broaden the audience, but the RFP is in French) The Cocof (Commission Communautaire française, see http://www.cocof.be) has just released a public request for proposal (RFP) for which the proposals must be entered by January 29, 2002 and for which there will be a public answer to questions on January 22, 2002 in Brussels. The offer is supposed to fit a national advertising only that has taken place, which amounts to roughly maximum 200.000 EUR. The request concerns the analysis, conceptual and functional, as well as the developpement of a human resources management system, essentially a databased based system with some specific functionnalities (like simulations). Initially, it is not supposed to be a full HRM system, but eventually this could lead or interface to such a system. It is requested that the system to be developped be free software. If it could use any free software resources already in existence related to HRM, that would save a lot of energy. Any suggestion/idea would be most welcome. Using Python Modules with Zope

I new to Zope. I'm attempting to access Python modules from within Zope. These modules are programs we've written, that import stuff like wxWindows or our .py modules. The "Extensions" folder is not the thing to use, apparently. I'm not clear if adding an "External Method" or "Script" is the thing to do. None of the books we have talk clearly about how to do this. I need some step-by-step directions with this. Any suggestions? Thanks! Mark

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but the quick and dirty way I use to log out is to create a "logout" file that no one has "View" permissions for, and then link to that file. When the user clicks on the link to view the file, it brings up the default browser-based login dialog. Is this possible in Zope?

Hi All, I'm curious as to wether anyone can provide any input on the following. I want to render an object's "title" using a series of images. Assuming I have a collection of images (every letter of the alphabet) and each image ID is the same as the letter is represents A, B, C, D etc. Is it possible to somehow break-down the "title" property and rendered it as such - +----++---++---++---++---++---++---++---++---++---++---+ | H || E || L || L || O || || W || O || R || L || D | +----++---++---++---++---++---++---++---++---++---++---+ In an effort to replace <dtml-var title_or_id> ... We just discussed this very subject yesterday on the list. If you read the archive from yesterday, you will see that Andreas pointed me to the README file in /lib/python/Products/PythonScripts/ where you will find instructions on what to do to make your modules available to python scripts within Zope. The short version is this: 1. Create a new directory within /lib/python/Products, e.g., mkdir MyModules so that you now have /lib/python/Products/MyModules. 2. Copy the file module_access_examples.py into your new subdirectory and call it __init__.py. E.g. (from MyModules) cp ../PythonScripts/module_access_examples.py __init__.py 3. Using your favorite text editor, edit __init__.py and look for the allow_module examples. In my case (for example) I added the file fpformat.py to the MyModules directory. Then I edited __init__.py so that it included: allow_module('fpformat') ModuleSecurityInfo('fpformat').declarePublic('fpformat', 'fix') The latter statement allows the python script to use the fix method. When you are done, restart Zope. That should do it. Hope that helps. Ron > I new to Zope. set / change modification time of an object directly

hi all, every object inside Zope (i.e. of the ZODB) has got its own modification time. If you have access to an object inside a product, for example via "my_obj = self.restrictedTraverse(obj_path)", you can get a human readable version of that modification time with "my_obj.bobobase_modification_time()", calling that certain method everyone knows. is it possible to get access to the modification time attribute of the object directly ? what about "my_obj._p_mtime" ? how can one set / update / change ? thanks, Andreas Hoelzl

First, I apologize in advance: this is more a minor syntax problem than anything else, and a combination of my laziness and incompetence at basic programming ("I'm a SysAdmin, not a **programmer**!!") I have modified Tres Seaver's STX_Document product to include a property "topic". I have figured out how (stolen the code) to sort all the 'STX_Document's within a folder, sorting all documents by property and arranging them in a table. <dtml-in expr="_.sequence.sort(PARENTS[0].objectValues(['STX_Document']), (('topic', 'nocase'), ('title','cmp'), ))"> <th><dtml-var topic></th> <td><a href="<dtml-var URL1>/<dtml-var id>"> <dtml-var title> "<dtml-var description>" What I'd like to do next is grab each property in a variable to compare against the value of the **next** iteration. If it matches, don't print the topic name in the table header. If it doesn't match, print the topic name and set the temp variable to the new value. I **realize** this a basic department sort/subtotal algorithm, but I don't have the familiarity with Zope syntax to work it out, and deadlines lay poised like a gun pressed against my temple. Any tips, clues, helpful hints or seeing-eye dog coupons will be gratefully appreciated.... peace
