Howto Upgrade a product ?

When a zope object based product exists, and this products is upgraded, many times the old format is not compatible with the new format, so the the old objects appears as broken in the ZMI. Is there a way to upgrade easily this kind of objects ? I was thinking on an intermediate object (that's why I asked about if there is a persistent dictionary product in Zope in my last email) -- __o _ \<_ (_)/(_) Saludos de Julián EA4ACL -.-

stack overflow error

hi, I'm running Zope 2.4.1 under OSF1V4 on a Digital alpha with python 2.1. Some products are crashing the Zope-server, eg. the DocumentLibrary-product by clicking on the view-tab of this product. If I do the same on a linux-box it works fine. The Zope server is crashing with the following message: Stack overflow: pid 24662, proc python2.1, addr 0x141477fd8, pc 0x12003a288 I checked the python stacksize by the Misc/find_recursionlimit.py program which is in the python-distribution. On the Digital alpha the max recursion-limit is 2400 and on the linux-box it's 8100. So I thought that the platform dependent stacksize was the reason for the Zope-crash, but the stacksize as given by the UNIX limit command is 8192kb on the linux-box and 32768kb on the Digital alpha. So the platform dependent stacksize does not explain the recursion-limit-problem. Does anybody have an idea, way the python-program of the Zope-process crashes with a stack overflow, although the platform dependent stacksize seems not to be the problem? Or way is the recursion limit on the Digital alpha less than the one on the linux-box? Thanks for your help in advance, Christoph

Currency formatting from within Python Script

Does anyone have a quick, easy way to format float variables to something like a currency (e.g., 1,234.56)? Use of the locale module (normally used for currency issues) is unauthorized within a Python Script. Surely someone must have run into this before. Ron

ISO-Splitter again: German Umlaute

hello, i've tried the ISO-Splitter of Zope 2.4.3 for indexing german texts. but the splitter breaks up words with german 'Umlaute' like 'ä','ö','ü'... example: -Produktivitätstheorie would be spitted in: -Produktivit -tstheorie that's really bad. what can i do? is there another splitter for german texts? some kind of config-magic? thank you maik.

Is WebDAV Necessary?

Hi; I'm not terribly familiar with WebDAV but have started investigating it. It appears to me that Zope does everything DAV does and a whole lot more. However, DAV is becoming as standardized as HTTP itself, so my brief analysis may have missed some critical points. Comments? TIA, BenO

Portal system similar to my.yahoo.com

Hi all, I'm looking for a good base to build a portal system and wonder if Zope is it. Basic requirements are... - my.yahoo style home page feature without all the news feed stuff, just our own widgets in portlets. - portlets can be added/removed by user. - user accounts with roles limiting which portlets may be added. - skinnable I've looked over some of the docs for Zope and CMF. What I haven't seen yet is a description of how to set up an editable home page with portlets. Is Zope what I'm looking for? Thanks!, boz

Adding text to DTML Method

Hi I'm trying to add text to the content of a DTML Method programmatically. Somehow I can't figure out how to do it. Changing a property is easy but the content has no property name. I would like to logout, then press "<=" back button into the browser and get access denied, but not be still logged in.
