Error handling in zope/ ext method calling a sproc to insert data into sql db?

I'm working on adding detailed error handling to an existing zope web application. The web application (a series of web pages served by zope) includes an html form that inserts inputted data (and data in hidden fields) into a sql database. The form currently submits the data to a dtml document that uses a Z SQL method to do the insert <dtml-in expr="zsql_nameofmethod(param1=1,param2=2, etc...). The Z SQL method, zsql_nameofmethod, is actually a simple stored procedure call (exec storedprocedurename ). Currently there is no error handling and all submissions seem to "go through," even when the sproc insert fails. Thus, I need to add custom error_handling to display an appropriate error message to the front-end user when the sproc call fails to insert. I've searched the web for any kind of help but have not found much to go on. A simple <dtml-try><dtml-except> block doesn't catch any error from the sproc. In the past I've taken the sproc call out of zope and put it into an external method (python). I've gotten more detailed error handling to work successfully from the external method by raising a RuntimeError and formatting what I get from sys.exc_info(). However, is there a better way to handle errors with zope/python/sql databases from within zope rather than in external methods? running Zope 2.5.1 (Python 2.1.3) on Win2k connecting to SQL database. Searching a Catalog in Zope 2.6.1b1

I have started testing my product in Zope 2.6.1b1 and notice an odd behaviour My code looks something like this: catalog = self.ICatalog # an instance of ZCatalog called ICatalog I have results1 = catalog() print results1 # returns 25 as expected results2 = catalog({'email':'peter'}) # ...in Zope 2.5.0 print len(results2) # returns 2 as expected # ...in Zope 2.6.1b1 print len(results2) # returns 25, i.e. as if the 'email' index is ignored!!! Why this strange behaviour? A bug in Zope2.6.1b1 ? How do I go around it? I tried the mailinglist but failed to find the discussion. I also tried inspecting the code but didn't understand anything. DataGrids - any suggestions?

Hi, I was looking at ASP.Net and one thing I really liked is their DataGrid control. Quite often, there comes requirements to make small databases (or small parts of databases) web enabled. It is easy enough in Zope to write SQL methods and make page templates as UI. Anyone has any suggestions about: - quick tricks that lets user manipulate a grid on the client side - insert/update/delete - easy client side JS validation - update to database I'm thinking of unearthing some JS libraries that let you manage a grid and then using normal Zope form datatypes like records to post it to a db. I'm not looking for a table-data maintainer. ZSyncer questions??

Hi, I have a few question regarding ZSyncer operation. 1. How do I automate the stuff so that I can cron-ize it using wget, if I have to approve of and select the objects to be synced everytime. ( the approval checkbox in the zsyncer props is off - dunno if that has any bearing on this at all). 2. The moment it syncs it marks the curent stuff as out of date. I KNOW its not but why??
