weird problem with exuserfolder/zclasses

Hi, We have build a sort of cmf with a lot of Zclasses. For over a year this worked without any problems (Zope 2.5.0). The properties of these classes are manipulated from our own user interface/cmf with python scripts with statements like this: context.propertysheets.properties.manage_changeProperties(xxxxx=xxxx) Now we have to implement a project where we have to use exuserfolder. Now things are going wrong. We get the following (see below, also when the user has the manager role) error when we edit the properties with our own interface. However in the manageinterface of Zope we can change the properties with authentication from exuserfolder. The weird thing is that with the standard user folder it works fine from within our applications. Any thoughts? Basic, conceptual help / advice?

Greetings: Background: I have been a Zope user and implementor for a couple of years now, and have created a few non-trivial "applications" using DTML and _very_ basic python scripting. I have recently expanded my Python knowledge somewhat and have an understanding of external methods, etc. Before Zope, my background has been solidly in the LAMP model. Now, I am on the task of writing a much larger application, and I selected Zope + Postgres rather than Apache+SQL+PHP. Here's where I need some conceptual advice, and this highlights where I am weakest: I really want to build this application in a more modular, OO way than I am used to working. I am still using SQL to store most of the information that is custom and specific to users. I want to structure this application in a way that I have, say, a user object / class, with methods on that object to handle all of the data operations, i.e. User.getinfo, User.updateinfo, User.get_some_more_specific_info, User.create, User.destroy - I'm sure you get the idea. However, I am NOT sure of which of the Zope paradigms to go with in this situation. It doesn't seem like ZClass is the way to go (if I understand things right), because I am not going to be creating instances of users in the ZODB. (Unneeded detail: I am using ExUserFolder so that auth information etc. is in my pgsql database). Right now, I am implementing what needs to be a prototype in DTML, but it's already getting to be spaghetti, with UI and logic code all intermingled. I am leaning toward creating big external methods for the encapsulation that I need, but it just *seems like I am missing something*. I have read everything I can get my hands on, and just feel like I am missing some top-level conceptual business. The docs all seem to be *very* high level, or the opposite - deeply technical and syntax-specific. Any comments, or pointers to the kind of info I am looking for? You have to search for "zope behind iis" :-) I am not sure if this is a better approach, it is an additional way. http://www.zope.org/Members/volkerw/Zope%20behind%20IIS It is a url redirect with variables... and everything. conflict error

Hi All, I've got a site running Zope 2.5.0, that is using a Mysql DB for it's backend, in conjunction with some ZODB functionality in the front. Catalog problem/only searchable when logged in

I am running ZOPE with the CMF. On the CMF on DEV I have a document that is searchable as anonymous. I synced the file to the QA box and I can see it when anonymous but cannot search for it when anonymous. It will only show in the search results when logged in. I've seen no differences in the security settings between the two instances and no obvious differences in the document. What could be causing this problem. Login fails on all accounts (even init and emergency)

Hi, New user, hope you can help. I've installed zope on a Mandrake 9.0 Linux system. I installed from rpms (Nexedi's, via urpmi). I've tried setting passwords for inituser and for an emergency user via zpasswd (which seemed to go fine). Despite everything, however, when I try to log in to the management interface it gives me a login window, which just won't go away. No matter what username or password I enter, it immediately just responds with a new login window (and hitting cancel simply gives me a "you are not authorized to access this resource" error. Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong? Anything you can tell me greatly appreciated, Marek

You could perhaps download the source and install it in your > python path (I don't know if this works because I use linux) I just saw another detail in the page you mentioned: http://www.zope.org/Members/barryp/win32_ldap The author says: "*** Sorry, I don't have a Win32 binary for py-ldap 2.0, and don't plan to attempt to compile one ***" and LDAPUserFolder uses python-ldap2.0.0pre1-4 So I guess you will have to use an old version of LDAPUserFolder, which supports python-ldap 1.10a3 for your windows machine, or perhaps there is somebody in the list willing to share a precompiled version for windows, or there is something on the net. Or consider Intermezzo or similar fs if you are using Linux. A network-replicated distributed filesytem mechanism that replicates copies of files to each cluster node would likely work for these purposes, without the need to write any code to glue/map it together (and it would eliminate the NFS latency and single-point-of-failure - which could, in theory, freeze up your Zope instance by tying up each thread if your NFS server goes down). Howdy, I receive this error when I try to add a product from the ZMI. What is "root default view", and where do I get another?
