Zope and RedHat 9

I recently upgraded my server to RedHat 9. I discovered that Zope was running badly : no answer after very few queries, nothing in the logs. The server looks like sleeping deeply, but not dead. I tried a full re-install from sources (Python 3.1.3 + Zope 2.6.1), same result. I moved to an other fresh RH 9 box, idem. With a freh RH 8 config, all is running fine. Thank you for the rely Wankyu, I am trying to use PMI to create a new CMFNeoboard. Currently I am stuck on the Archive Path. I have tried adding /mysitename/testfolder\ Also tried /mysitename/testfolder/ I am getting an unauthorized path error. For the archive, is the path on the local filesystem or on the web site? DirectoryStorage & ZEO... how?

i feel like i'm missing something terribly obvious... * with FileStorage, i used a custom_zodb.py to run zope as a zeo client. * DS includes an example custom_zodb.py apparently for running zope without zeo and with DS. ... but how do i get the zeo server to use DS? i've searched the docs and the DS mailing list archive and found nothing. but apparently people are doing it. i guess that i'm to use the -S argument to ZEO/start.py but i don't understand the docstring. what the heck is storage_name? -- Paul Winkler home: http://www.slinkp.com "Muppet Labs, where the future is made - today!"

navigation_tree_slot

I'd like to use the navigation tree slot to navigate the portal. Except that I want 'Documents' meta types (I think that's what they're called) to show up in the tree view when I click on a folder they are in. I don't want those with id index_html to show or other types I may choose to exclude. I should be able to allow the other types explicitly if I wish (images, files for ex.). I've modified a custom version of navigation_tree_slot.pt to allow anonymous users (and others) to view the folders as per a How-To. I've looked further at navigation_tree_slot.pt and it doesn't look like I can do it(show docs in the tree view) from here. Do I need to modify navigation_tree_builder.py? How do I do this (I know a little python)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. - Asad

Assigning Roles to Roles

Has the been any consideration to adding the ability to give Roles to Roles? I'm thinking of a situation where I assign the roles Staff and Student in the root of my site. In some sub folder I may want to say all Staff and Students are managers. I don't want to maintain the permissions for both Staff and Students, only for Manager. I think Oracle has something like this. Just a point for discussion. Thanks, -Brian

SQL Poll is a simple Slashdot-style Polling product that uses an SQL database to store votes. This avoids bloating your ZODB with a bunch of minor undoable transactions by Anonymous User. It's an enhancement on kteague's SQL poll, which was based upon Andy McKay's FS Poll Product. Since he did not put it in the Official SQLPoll software release, I've put it in my members folder. It now supports one-time voting based on a unique identifier. Any tracking system the site has implemented can be used, or it can use Ip addresses or any other identifier you can come up with. This has been tested on MYSQL only. "1" in "-S 1=" is just the storage name you want to pass to ZEO clients. If you pass more than one storage to clients (say, you use DBTab on the ZEO clients), you might want to choose more descriptive names (like 'main_storage','foo_storage',etc) on both ends, but that's your choice. IIS virtual directory and zope "directory" redirect

Hi, I have a zope web server running on windows 2000 on an internal windows-based network. I need a way for my IT department to point to a sub directory off the root on my zope server. For example, http://www.mypublicweb.com/stuff (IIS) should point to http://myinternalserver/stuffsubdirectory (Zope) How might I do this so that I can limit the access to the zope server to one directory (because zope does not have related file system folders like IIS) ??
