SOAP and dictionaries

Hi, I have a problem with sending a dictionary to a SOAP method and am hoping someone here can help me with it. I'm trying to call a SOAP method which needs a string and a HashMap (Java) as parameters. The string is a session id and the HashMap contains key-value pairs that represent variables and their values that I want to save in the session. I tried different SOAP implementations for Python (ZSI, soaplib, SOAP.py) but couldn't get it to work. With soaplib I didn't get an error message, but the key-value pairs weren't saved when I printed out what was saved in the session. Somewhere in my various tests I got the error message: SimpleDeser can't handle structured data (or something like that). I think that happened when I tried ZSI. I also tried using the structType class to represent the dictionary but, again, I couldn't really get it to work Anyway, does anyone here know how to use a dictionary as a parameter? I don't particularly care which SOAP implementation you use for it. I just need it to work. Hello, Please help me with this. I need to download my web page from Zope in html format, so that I can use Dreamweaver to edit. I tried to export to my local PC, but the file was in Zexp format. Dreamweaver couldn't read the file. Thank you for your help, Tri.

Changing the server header

Hi, I just run nessus on my server and it suggested me to configure my server to return a bogus Server header in order to not leak information. I searched the list for "server header", but I didn't found anything related to my problem. Where can I change this info? Thanks in advanced, Josef

Using Interface module

I'm trying out the Interface module that comes with Zope and is highly recommended by the ZDG and a number of how-tos for product developers. It seems, though, that there are some fuzzy areas specific to Zope, and I'm wondering if anybody has some wisdom on the "best practices" in these cases: 1) An interface contains several factory-function generated methods -- ZSQL, DTML, or images. For example, I have a "pluggable brain" interface that wraps a product in a store -- the caller doesn't know exactly how the object should be displayed in a listing, because it doesn't know what kind of object it is. So, the object provides DTML snippets to render itself in a selected range of representational intents -- from full display to a brief catalog listing. Obviously this code will break if the object does not provide the appropriate DTML method -- so we need to include it in the interface spec. But what is it? Technically it's a method, so maybe I should use the method interface definition approach: def my_dtml_form(part_num=0, **kw): """Represents a part.""" But it looks more like an attribute when you define it -- do I lose anything by using one or the other representation? (Obviously Attribute() doesn't give me the call signature -- anything else to consider?). 2) Sometimes, especially with factory methods, the methods and/or attributes needed are bound inside of __init__ (i.e. they're instance methods, not class methods). Nevertheless, they are a requirement for the interface. Should they be listed in the interface? Will the verification methods be able to figure this out when judging whether an instance will implement the interface? Will valid classes fail because they don't list class attributes for these? 3) Finally, can I run some kind of self-verification step on Zope import so that warnings or errors will result when a Product with broken implementations (i.e. objects don't implement the interfaces they publish)? That seems like it would be very useful for quality control purposes -- especially in an open-source project where many independent people of varying skill level might be modifying the code. It would make it a lot easier for developers if they could just get feedback on import. Any thoughts appreciated. I'm really new to the interfaces concept, but I like the idea. Hi, I've been working on my Zope product almost entirely through the ZMI (it's pretty GUI intensive), but I'm reaching a point where I need to refactor and make a lot of modifications, so I've just started to work from the Python interpreter. I've set up the environment correctly (the same as I set up in "start" -- I have an "Instance" style installation of Zope), shutdown the service (to avoid a ZODB conflict), and got as far as: >>> import Zope >>> import Products >>> from Interface import * >>> successfully. I've been using the Interface tools to examine my classes, but I really want to examine the instances. I can create new instances in memory by just calling the constructor: >>> my_instance = my_class() but I have some (time) expensive stuff installed into the ZODB already -- it'd be nicer to just access the existing instances. Is that possible? Because so far, I haven't found where the "Root Folder" is imported. My understanding is that once I have the root object to the ZODB/OFS that I'll be able to access everything else by examining attributes, but I don't know how to get the top level object. (And I assume I must be able to access it, because why else would there be a conflict?) I figure I'm probably not looking at the right documentation for that, and hoping someone on the list knows. Server restarting

I noticed today that one of our servers restarted itself for "no apparent reason". I'm sure that there is a reason and I'm hoping someone can help decipher the following event message: 2003-04-29T20:04:00 ERROR(200) zdaemon Process 13671 terminated by signal SIGSEGV(11) I'm running Zope 2.6.0 on Redhat 7.1 and Python 2.1.3 Thanks, Kevin

How to include a file content to value field?
