Formulator - TALES problem

Hello, I tried to set the End Datetime for an datetime Formulator object to the current time. I uses TALES and started with python: form.DateTime() This failed with Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: DateTime Now I created a Python script named 'jetzt' which just does return DateTime() and alternatively I tried return str(DateTime()) moreover I tried several different formats. Plone meets XML, XSL

Hi Zopistas, I'm trying to integrate externally-supplied content that is served as static XML with XSL for formatting. My problem is that the files are updated every 5-10 seconds, so realistically they should be filesystem objects. How do you include something like this within Plone, without the templates and such? Also, what is the most efficient method of serving up static (but constantly refreshed) content? -- Mitch

hi all, i use the externaleditor product and its win client. when i try and externaledit a file, in most cases the client sais: fatal error: unknown encoding: mbcs (some files generate this error, others dont...even with the same content type...) which subsystem generates this encoding? Cleaning Filenames from Windows

I have a form with which one can upload images. However, Internet Explorer for PC is a very clever program, and instead of putting the filename in the 'filename' attribute of the request object, it puts the whole local path of the file. This of course is unsuitable for a filename on the server. However, due the the escape nature of the backslash, I'm having a tremendous problem writing a function to clean up this mess. I am certain I used to have a code snippit to do this, but cannot find it. Can anyone give me a hand? --- Edward J. Pollard University of Lethbridge Web Development

Error logging

Hi, today I had to deal with an access error and wanted to write a little cron job which informs me via mail that something was wrong at my Zope site. I do so for apache and did not expect any problem her but this seemed naive ... The only documentation I was able to find about writing error logs in Zope was http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Misc/LOGGING.txt but there is no date or version info in this text and because it is refering to a Python 1.5.2 version I doubt that this information might be outdated. Anyway - I do not understand this: Creating your own Zope logger is easy. Simply define a logger class with the following interface: ... I really can't imagine that I'm the only one who wants /var/log/zope/error.log without any intervention and so I hope there is a way which is "even more easy" than described above. ;-) Kind regards Andreas.

How to access the namespace of a Python Script?

Hi, I try to do the following inside a python script: myDict={'myKey':'myVal'} myString='myDict' myObject = getattr(thisScriptNameSpace, myString) What should I write for 'thisScriptNameSpace' to get 'myObject' pointing to 'myDict'? In a 'normal' Python-Modul 'thisScriptNameSpace' should be 'self'. It should be possible in a Python Script, ins't it? -- Any hints are welcome, Elena

FTP server hangs on ls, put, get, ...

Greetings. I've got a Zope installation that doesn't seem to want to do FTP. I can open a FTP connection to the server -- the authentication dialog goes okay -- and I can cd and pwd, but if I try to transfer any data (ls, put, get, etc.), the server seems to hang and eventually time out, terminating the connection. I can successfully FTP to other Zope servers. I've restarted Zope. I've tried connecting from several different client machines, and from different FTP client programs, and I get the same behavior each time. So, it seems to be something about that particular server (Zope 2.6.1 on Red Hat Linux 8). Anybody got any insightful advice or suggestions? Help: My beloved Zope crashes

Hi all. I've a serious problem and don't know where to look further for the error. Hope anyone can help. (Sorry for the crosspost.) My configuration: Hardware: 2x 750MHz, 1GB RAM Software: Windows 2000 SP4, Zope 2.6.2, CMF 1.3.2, Plone 1.0.5 and a variety of other products such as CMFForum, CMFCollector, CMFVisualEditor, Epoz, Photo and Photoalbum, TextindexNG, LocalFileSystem. Two weeks ago I upgraded to CMF 1.4.1 and a CVS Version of Plone 1.1 but undid (by overwritting with a backup copy of the whole zope directory) the changes because of some errors with the plone version. This might be unrelated but for one week knowing of no special changes my zope instance hangs everytime I change a document or try to add one. In detail: In the ZMI I try to change the content of a document. I click change and my browser gets no response. I can watch my zope instance collecting all free memory (~800MB) then suddenly releasing everything and then going into a cycle grabbing up to 40 MB going down to 0 and restarting this, the whole time with a processor load of 100 percent. It looks like some kind of infinite loop, but I have no idea what could cause this. I ran debug mode from the console but it tells me nothing. I ran fsrecover and fspack on the database file (about 400MB) but everything is fine. I assume something involved in the process of saving like the catalog or workflow might be the cause but I don't know how to track this down. Help of any kind is appreciated. TranslationService and charsets...

Hi zopistas... I can translate a message with... translated = context.translation_service.translate('mydomain', message) But how can I get the charset of the translated message, as the various languages from the associated MessageCatalog may have different charsets (ASCII, ISOxxx,...). Many thanks in advance for any hint. --Gilles
