Dynamic ZSQL method - almost there

Hello, I have been trying to get the dynamic ZSQL method working for a long time and I think I am almost there. Here is what I am doing: My ZSQL method is named 'mysql' with one argument named 'params': select * from address where <dtml-in "params.keys()"> <dtml-var sequence-item> <dtml-var "params[_['sequence-item']]['op']"> '<dtml-var "params[_['sequence-item']]['val']">' <dtml-unless sequence-end> and </dtml-unless> </dtml-in> I am accessing it from a script named 'testsql': for row in context.mysql(params={'name':{'op':'=','val':'John Doe'}}): print row return printed When I run the script I get a message as follows: <r instance at 015C5760> That is all the message says. Now if I modify the script a little by removing the argument and changing it to: select * from address where <dtml-let params="{'name':{'op':'=','val':'John Doe'}}"> <dtml-in "params.keys()"> <dtml-var sequence-item> <dtml-var "params[_['sequence-item']]['op']"> '<dtml-var "params[_['sequence-item']]['val']">' <dtml-unless sequence-end> and </dtml-unless> </dtml-in> </dtml-let> I get the desired sql: select * from address where name = 'John Doe' Can anyone please help me here? I am a newbie and dealing with Zope. It has taken a lot of persistence to get to this point. I can't give up now. Thanks in advance. Kashif

I've a big problem with security!! I use apache with mod_proxy and rewriterule with zope for a single site in cmf and there are a lot of server that use my apache as proxy! Rachel, Glad you got it working! One thing that occurred to me is that your imported module probably will not auto refresh, except when the code in in the GlobalModules directory is changed. I think the auto refresh thing just checks the file dates on the files in the product's directory. The solutions that occur to me are: 1.) Move your code into that directory so that Zope sees it all as part of the same product (maybe a symbolic link would work for this?) -- 2.) write a script that "touches" the wrapper file whenever you save changes to your other code. -- 3.) edit the Zope code such that it auto refreshes every time, rather than just when a file has changed (this would cause things to run slower). -- or 4.) You could just click the refresh button every time before you test. 4.) might just be the best option, as this will also display errors in your code when it can not refresh. When Zope fails to auto refresh, do to an error in code, it just happily runs the old code - this can lead to some frustration when you get used to it refreshing for you, and then can not understand why the new code you just wrote isn't doing anything new. Customizing Error pages?

Hi List, I'm moving a static HTML site to Zope, and one of the results of this is that many, many links are changing. What I'm looking for is someway to catch all NotFound Errors, and at the very least, display a small explanation regarding our upgrading, with a link to the root of the new site. What I would like at the most would be to have a script that would check what URL they came in on, consult a translation table, and put up a page with the new link, and an auto refresh (part of this would be some kind of meta tags to tell search engines that the address had changed). Another handy thing would be logging all these errors, as well as their referrers, so I could go through and contact webmasters who have linked to us. Basically, what I need is someway to direct all notfound errors to a script. Thanks, Alec Munro

importing an existing python module into Zope python script?

This *must* be a FAQ, but I haven't found the answer anywhere despite all day looking... I've got an existing python module with a large amount of code in it which I want to use both inside Zope and outside in existing python programs. The module is still under development so will change frequently. Two burning questions: a) How do I get access to the module within Zope ? b) What do I then need to do to keep the versions in sync? As far as I can see, I have at least 3 alternatives to question (a). i) Copy it all into Zope, each function as a separate Zope python script (Ugh! and this then makes keeping it in sync outside Zope pretty darned difficult...) ii) Keep the module as-is and add an External Method in Zope for each function that will be called from a Zope script. Pretty awful but do-able. But then I think I need to do something else in the Zope Management Interface each time I change the module? Is that right? iii) Rewrite it all as a Zope Product? There must be an easier answer that has eluded me to date.... Any answers appreciated... Rachel

Localizer Install Problems

For both Zope 2.7.0-rc1 and Zope 2.7.0-rc2, the installation of Localizer Version 1.1.0a2 renders Zope ZMI inoperable on Windows XP. This is not true with Zope 2.6.4-rc2. Localizer Version 1.1.0a2 loads fine. I went back Localizer 1.0.1 and installed this on Zope 2.7.0.rc2 without problems. on Windows XP. I have not tested this on Linux yet, but this will be my task tomorrow. Has anyone had similar problems on Windows XP, NT, 2000, or 2003. Thanks in advance. Patrick Gilmartin

Membership - too many choices

Hi We have a requirement to implement membership functionality in Zope and there are just too many choices to try them all, so I hope I can benefit from some user experiences. I want to use: - Zope 2.6.3 with Python 2.1.3 - PostgreSQL 7.3.x Development environment is: Mac OS X 10.3 Production environment is: Solaris8/Intel (Compaq) We have the above components working on Macs and one of the Solaris servers. We are using Psycopg/ZPsycopgDA, working fine as well. Requirements: 1.) The user data has to be in a PostgreSQL database, as the information has to be accessible to non-Zope applications as well. 2.) Passwords need to be encrypted! Only Zope access is exposed to the Internet, so the other applications won't use the password field. (At this stage.) 3.) Records for users have to accommodate more fields then a plain acl_user folder offers. (Such as e-mail address, address details, subscription to content, descriptive fields, etc.) But we still want to be able to use Zope Roles (and local roles) for access control within Zope. 4.) Any screens ("login", "change password", "change your details", etc.) have to be customised (ideally just using DTML, we have not yet mastered ZTP {no time}). We have used existing Zope products and written SQL Methods, PythonScripts and ExternalMethods, but we have not yet written a Zope product (or changed one). [To give an idea of our skill level.] Questions: 1) Has anybody a working version of "exUserFolder" with Zope2.6.3 and using a SQL authentication source? Please let me know what your setup is and if you had to change the product in any way. For the moment, this is what we are exploring. We have installed it, but get numerous errors when using it. We have not yet tested all options extensively. We think we might need to "hack" the product to get it working, which we're not comfortable to do. (We might fix one thing, but brake another not noticing so until much later. I will ask related questions on the exUserFolder list.) 2.) Would CMF or Plone satisfy the requirements with functionality out of the box? (Which exUserFolder would, IF we get it to work.) Can we use CMF or Plone in a site with LOTS of existing stuff that is just plain Zope? (We can not redesign the entire site, which has already hundreds of working pages.) 3.) We looked also at LoginManager (too complex for our taste), Generic User Folder and Simple User Folder, but we got the impression that they all are "older" projects or do not really fir out requirements. No recent updates and no indication that they would work with Zope 2.6.3. Does anybody disagree? If we have missed anything, please say so. Cheers Marc
