Write Once Media with Data.fs?

I have noticed that the Data.fs file grows constantly. Does anyone know if the earlier part of the file is ever altered? If not, then I was thinking that it might be usable with write one media such as burning onto CD or DVD ROM. The database could be packed whenever the media was swapped out. --Sean

How would I include a file as text/html in a ZPT page? This is a HTML beginners question as much as a Zope one but there may be a Zope-specific way of doing this also. For example, I offer the user an input box, and when there is a result of calculations there are supplied below it. Conceptually it would be: #include "input_form.html" if result <> 0: #include "result.html" You know what I mean. In the tutorial there is an example using the default header ... <dtml-var standard_html_header> but this is DTML and I'm trying to do it through ZPT. To include Zope files I thought I needed to know their extension but the extension is not displayed in Zope and I can't find the files on disk - I presume they are stored in the DB. I came to the conclusion that you refer to them as objects simply by name. TIA, Eddie,

PCGI problem

We are running the PCGI wrapper and we are seeing the following problem... 1. I go to my Zope (Plone) site and try to download a big file through the web. 2. It spins and spins and eventually gives server error. 3. Zope is running behind iPlanet. This wall working fine up until now (for about 2 weeks). 4. From the iPlanet log, it looks like the request that iPlanet makes to Zope is timing out. 5. Logging in to Zope directly (avoiding PCGI, which only the admin can do) works fine. So it seems like we've narrowed the problem down to the PCGI wrapper. I know many people will jump in and say get rid of PCGI but that is not really an option at this point. Can anybody explain what might cause PCGI to hang like this? Additional data collected: 6. The size of the content being downloaded *matters*. It fails for big stuff (38Mb) and not for small stuff (1Mb). 7. We've killed all Zope related processes and restarted them, but the problem persists. Any suggestions on how to debug a problem like this would be very welcome. -- Mike

To answer your question: option iii.) is not such a big deal as to earn the term "rewrite" A "Zope Product" is just a python module in the Zope Products directory with some code in its "__init__.py" file that tells Zope how to add your objects from the management interface. You can define a single new Zope object that imports your existing code (as long as it is in your python path) and inherits from your existing class(es), or calls your existing functions. This wrapper class shouldn't require much code at all. Additionally, when you run zope in Development mode ("-D" from the command line), and I believe that ./start does this by default, you can set any product to auto-refresh in the management interface: Control Panel -> Products -> YourProduct -> <Refresh Tab> Click auto refresh and Update. Also the product directory may need an empty (size=0) file called "refresh.txt" for this to work. At least is does in the old version of Zope I am running. This traceback can only occur when cPersistence.so wasnt compiled yet, has been deleted, is for the wrong python version or is otherwise unavailable. It is usually generated thru installation/compilation. Getting Zope/CMF to work on HP-UX

Hello, I have been trying to run Zope/CMF on a HP9000/800 machine (rp5430, HP-UX 11.00) for several full days, with no luck. I got advice from various people, but the problem is always the same : after a few steps in the creation process of a CMF site, python goes in an infinite loop, using 100% of the cpu it is on. The log file doesn't indicate something special. It just stops being fed. The same happens simply in the ZMI if I want to select the view of the error_log object. The feedback I got mentioned a classical threading problem. I had first compiled python with gcc, and as people said it was its fault, I switched to c89+aCC (from HP), and tweaked the python Makefile a lot (including -D_REENTRANT and -lpthread flags in various places). I also patched my system with a cumulative patch for libpthread and a patch for c89 found in the HP database by typing "Python" in their search engine. All this changed *nothing* : the problem is the same in every config I tried. So my question is very simple : has someone been able to run Zope (and CMF) on this (or a similar) platform ? I feel very disappointed having lost all that time for nothing, but anyway, the server is here and I am seen as the "bad guy" when I tell the managers that we can't run our brand new intranet (powered by Zope/CMF) on (so expensive) machine... My suggestion on buying a PC has not made them smile at all. Many thanks in advance for any help, -- Damien Wyart

Help, locked myself out with exUserFolder

Help! I just destroyed my plone Site with exUserFolder. I installed the product. Removed 'acl_users' from the plone Folder, and installed the exUserFolder. Now I only ever get "ValueError, unpack list of wrong size", on every SubFolder of the plone site. I can login to the zope root, and manage, but I can't "cd" into the plone site. I tried first to remove the new exUserFolder by FTP and when I tried there to cd into the plone folder I get a "550 No such directory". Then I tried to deinstall the exUserFolder, with the hope the get it's "evil" funktioning stopped an be able to enter normally as root user again, and cd into the sub dirs. Well the acl_users Folders from exUserFolder are gone, but I still can't cd into the directory? Help, How to get out of that? Greetings- Axel

adding a file upload to an email

hi i have a simple form, where the results get sent out as an email. the form is within a dtml file, and the form method calls another dtml file which has the sendmail part. it all works fine. but i need to add a file upload to the form, and have it send the attached file with the rest of the form results via email. so i have in my form: <input size="20" value="" type="file" name="upload" /> and then in my dtml file: <dtml-try> <dtml-sendmail mailhost="MailHost"> To: xxx From: xxx Subject: test form <dtml-var upload> </dtml-sendmail> but the email i get back gives me this: <ZPublisher.HTTPRequest.FileUpload instance at 0x8c09bcc> any ideas? thanks matt
