Any way to rebuild the Zope Database?

Hello, Is there any way to "rebuild" the Zope Database? Our production server has been through a lot of updates and it looks like our database contains a lot of objects with broken properties. Is there any way to fix this? -Petter-

I have been using HTML-Kit/External Editor ( http://www.chami.com/html-kit / http://zope.org/Members/Caseman/ExternalEditor )-- a useful combination that seems to handle python and page templates well. It seems to do nothing for dtml though ( well not entirely true it lets you edit it as text-- but no colour coding or other text editing aids). Has anybody ever seen/created any dtml related plug-ins for this program?

Are there particular products you suggest that would be useful to accomplish this. For instance is there a particular product that you use for getting objects down to the file system (ExtFile, LocalFS, Files System Directory View). Would the files then be editable from both the ZMI and the FS or just one. Could we also use one of the ZOPE CVS products or are you strictly using the FS, an external editor, and CVS from the FS. I've used zsyncer in the past and it's worked fairly well and I'm comfortable using it again if necessary. Is there a method for triggering it from the command line. My main concern is that another team will be supporting migration efforts and if they can do it with a script from the command line all the better. Any products to help keep the site content seperate from the code. Hello, I had a weird problem where someone posted a reply to a message which sent a copy to the board manager. The manager sees an HTML view of the board in email. They saw a particular message in email which does not show up on the live board. In an attempt to fix it I tried a number of thing including reindexing, clearing indexes, etc. Now the message is still not there and I am seeing URL problems like repeated folders: http://ut-web/utilities/Special%20Groups/Org_Change/Communications_Committee /comm_board/utilities/Special%20Groups/Org_Change/Communications_Committee/c omm_board/utilities/Special%20Groups/Org_Change/Communications_Committee/com m_board?expand_all=1 Now, when someone tries to post a message or a reply to a message they get this error (which is the REAL problem now): Error Type AttributeError Error Value 'None' object has no attribute 'getNeoBoardArticleURL' I have seen the url problems before and it was suggested by Neoboard's author that I update the code which fixed this. I get the latest CVS of the code which I did and the problems went away. It seems that when a reindex or a clear and find is done, things go crazy. I am not ready to update code if there is new code available yet because I do not want to over complicate the issue Any suggestions? I have not had problems since this first time. Plone makes heavy use of CSS, which means it is accessible to any internet browser, but the design needs a standards-compliant browser to look like we intended it. It'd be better if you had provided us with some more information about why/how it didn't work, like how you configured it and what error messages you saw. But I suspect what is the problem in your case. The handling of "Expires:" headers in ASP404 is broken. Just comment out (put a single quote before) the lines that look like if lhName = "expires" then ' ditto for Expires: Response.ExpiresAbsolute = hValue bValidHeader = false end if It should work after that. CVSFile problems

I've installed CVSFile and been able to get a new file into my site. Unfortunately after I can't seem to do anything else. When using the CVS tab and trying any of the options I just get a generic DEBUG MESSAGE for whatever method it called. The problem there is that there's no associated log entry or debug text even when debugging has been turned on. Sybase as storage

I'd like (read the company would like) to store all data in a Sybase database instead of using zodb. What solutions are there? I've read some about APE and Sybase DA. APE doesn't seem to support Sybase (only mysql and postgresql?) and to use Sybase DA I have to rewrite all code to use Z SQL methods. Is this information correct? Are there other alternatives or is it impossible to have Zope store all data in a Sybase RDBMS without rewriting all products to use Z SQL methods? Tim

Zope 2.6.3 and packing

Hi, I just installed a vanilla Zope 2.6.3 build from source with Python 2.1.3 from source, installed CMF and NuxUserGroups on top of it. Imported a CMF site from a 2.5.1 production Zope server and started playing around. Did not encounter many problems (yet) But every time I try to pack the Data.fs I get : Error Type: IOError Error Value: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/usr/local/zope/2-6-3/var/Data.fs.pack' I've added 'zope' as a user to the system with 'nologin', added zope to my group 'roelvdb' and started Zope with option -u zope I've been playing around with security settings of files and folders, but I do not seem to get the right combination Does any one have an idea or a walktrough? Up-to-date Zope books in print?

Hello, We're looking for some good, up-to-date Zope-books. So far it looks like the Zope Bible from 2002 is the most recent one. Does anybody know which version of Zope this book covers? Also, does anybody know if there are any commercial books that cover newer versions of Zope? Thanks, -Petter-
