NTLM authentication

Dear All, We are working with an organisation that wish to use NTLM HTTP authenication with Zope. They currently use MSIE and IIS and are able to use the original login credentials supplied when the use logged in to their workstation. So far we have identified two possible routes, both involve using Zope in REMOTE_USER mode (something in front of Zope does then authentication, Zope then does the authorisation based on the REMOTE_USER variable): 1) Use Zope with/behind IIS and use IIS to do the authentication 2) Use Apache in front of Zope and mod_ntlm to do authentication Has anyone else tried this any experiences to report? Setting up ZopeXMLMethods

Hi, I'm trying to set up ZopeXMLMethods 1.0 with Sablotron-1.0.1-2 (and Expat 1.95.7) as the XSLT processor on Zope 2.6.3 on WinXP. Where do I need to install the dlls for Sablotron and Expat so that they are detected by XMLMethods. Thanks, Kushagra

context / addProduct question

I have the following file layout in my site (each of the following is a folder): Folder1 Folder2 Sub-folder1 Sub-folder2 scripts Within the folder scripts I have a python script (myAddFolder) with the following code: context.manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_addFolder(sub_id, sub_title) I am calling that script from a form. If I call it from a page within Sub-folder1, for example, the action would be scripts/myAddFolder. I would like it to then add a folder inside Sub-folder1. I understand why it will actually add it within the scripts folder, but I dont know how to get around this. I apologize if I could have found this somewhere else, but I didnt have any luck probably because I dont really know what I should have been searching for. Thank you in advance for your help.

uploading xml files

I have a form which uploads an xml file into zope. Is it possible to display the contents of this file in a dtml method which is the target of the upload form action. I have searched all over for an answer and have come up empty. I know this may be simple to some people but at the moment this is blocking my further progress with zope. If there is any documentation on this subject could someone point me at it please? regards garry

Staging CMFStaging PloneStaging et al

I'm still having difficulty getting CMFStaging to work with our setup. When attempting to run the install for PloneStaging I now get an error "LockError" "/staging/Stages/Development not lockable". So in digging around trying to find out how to fix that error I'm reading a lot of material that suggests that I'm traveling down the wrong path, specifically because CMFStaging/PloneStaging is not a production level and also because it looks like Plone is going to be going a different direction with staging/versioning in a later version. So I'm kind of at square one with this problem of staging again. DEV --> QA --> PROD Going back to an earlier thought I had I wonder if this might be able to work: Setup the Plone site within the main db (data.fs). In the Plone directory set up a mount point for a secondary database for content (content.fs). Develop the templates, security, and functionality as normal, create some test dummy content inside the content folder through Plone. When it's time to test in QA have a script copy over the DEV data.fs as data_v2.fs then fire up a new ZEO client for QA using that DB. At that point we should have the newest version of the Plone site and retain whatever content (from content.fs) that was already in QA. In QA it gets tested and approved and we perform a similar update through script to PROD where it gets tested for validity against the already existing production content (content.fs). At whatever point we verify that the new version works we point users over to the new ZEO client(s) and switch off the old ZEO client(s) The trick here is that what's in content.fs is created seperately from general development of templates, security, and Plone functionality. My question would be 1) can it be done this way 2) are there any repercussions as far as cataloging, session management, locking, etc. 3) is there a better way that's been tested and feels production ready. _________________________________________________________________ Rethink your business approach for the new year with the helpful tips here. http://special.msn.com/bcentral/prep04.armx

ZClass Catalog Update

I created the following DTML method in the "methods" folder of a ZClass: <dtml-let URL1=HTTP_REFERER> <dtml-call "Catalog.manage_catalogReindex(REQUEST, RESPONSE, URL1)"> <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.redirect(URL1)"> </dtml-let> I then created an "update" tab which calls this method from the "views" folder. The thing is, when I click on this tab, it updates the entire Catalog. It also requires that the person performing the update have additional permissions (within the Catalog). My questions are these: 1) Is there a way to update only the individual ZClass object in the catalog when someone clicks on the "update" tab? (as opposed to updating the whole Catalog). 2) What is the best way to deal with the permissions for this? Do I have to have two User Folders (and duplicate the username and password for each username in both User Folders) for each perosn who is publishing to the site: a) one UserFolder above the directory where these items are being published, b) the second UserFolder within the Catalog directory? 3) Additionally, I notice that when an object gets cataloged initally, the path to the object (as viewed in the Catalog) is from the root of the site, such as /myfolder/myobject. However, if I were to recatalog the site from the Control Panel, the path to the object now changes to: /mysite/myfolder/myobject Thanks in advance. John T.

Hi, I'd like to have only one Python version, 2.3.3. I can launch Zope2.6.3 through the command line after having modified start.bat but how can i launch it as a service at boot time ? Windows XP Pro Python 2.3.3 Zope 2.6.3 TIA, André

Zopebook and license.

Hi all, i have a question about Zopebook. The first edition of Zopebook was under OPL, so the terms of usage and redistribution are clear and precise. However the same thing doesn't happen for the second version of the book. Version 2.6 has no license attached. We are planning to translate the book in italian, but now there is a question: under which license will be the translation released? And most important, is it possible to make changes to the book? CC deletes the username and password values from the request so that untrusted code cannot get at them. If you really don't want this to happen, you have two options: 1. Change the CC source. 2. Monkeypatch the delRequestVar method of the CC class. The latter can be done without changing the CC code. Just create a directory in you Zope Products directory with an __init__.py file containing the following: from Products.CMFCore.CookieCrumber import CookieCrumbler def myDelRequestVar(self, req, name): """Don't delete request variables""" pass CookieCrumber.delRequestVar = myDelRequestVar That's it. This overrides the delRequestVar method of the CookieCrumbler class dynamically when Zope starts. This way you don't have to worry about loosing your change if you upgrade CMF later. If you remove the Product, then the default behavior (deleting the variables) will be restored. hth, -Casey
