APE/custom product question

I have started experimenting with APE and I think its great. I am just having a small problem saving a class of objects from a custom product I wrote. I suspect the ultimate answer is to write my own serializer, but before I go too far in that direction, I thought I would see if anyone could point me to a lazier solution. In this product, most of my classes subclass the OrderedFolder object and use the PropertyManager, so the default APE filesystem configuration seems to handle them perfectly. In one case though, I subclass both OrderedFolder and OFS.Image (and in another case, both OrderedFolder and OFS.File). (In the class spec, I inherit from OrderedFolder first, then Image.) I am double-checking my code just to make sure that I am not doing something wrong that is just now coming to light, but otherwise, I am wondering how much hope there is for finding a way to make the default filesystem configuration work. I'm using Suse 9.1, Zope2.7.0, Python 2.3.3, and Ape 1.0. (Would Zope 2.7.3, Python 2.3.4 make a difference?) Hi, for all people who are (mis;))-using the Zope Mangement Interface (ZMI) as small, but very powerful, flexible and rock-stable Content-Management-System, I've just released HTMLDocument 1.0 (which I use for several years now). HTMLDocument supports WYSIWYG-editing of HTML-content with Epoz (http://mjablonski.zope.de/Epoz) and renders its content (just the body of an edited or uploaded HTML-page) automagically with the famous combination of standard_html_header / standard_html_footer (DTML) or a single standard_html_template (ZPT). apache+zope in lan

Dear all, I am pretty new to zope and the only thing i can't do right now to have my zope running with the apache front end configuration : I know there are a lot of tutorial, i followed then, but nothing can't do, here is my problem : I have a webserver in my lan, and an openBsd as my gateway. On my openb, i have a firewall (pf) which forward only the port 80 (blocks 8080). With the apache proxy config, I get a "better" resultat : the links are towards the base url : http://keke.epaveman.com:8080/... External Editor 0.8 breaks ZMI for External Method

I have e-mailed the developer about this, but have gotten no response. After adding an external method in the ZMI, I get errors when attempting to revisit the method. This makes it impossible to run external methods via the 'Test' tab. Access to global methods in product creation forms

Hi all. I'm sorry, I've already posted this message on zope-dev, realizing that it was not the right place. I would like to use a global method in the add form of a product. I've declared the method in the methods dictionary of the package. However, when I try to add the product, I receive an unauthorized exception. The environment is python2.3.4 and zope 2.7.3, running on Debian GNU/Linux. I've attached a simple test product showing the problem. Thanks you in advance for your support. Regards Marco

Number of Zope process on Linux

Hi, I am running Zope on Linux (RH 9). Performance is not that great (to say the least). I can see only two Zope processes and only one seems to use any cpu time. Is that supposed to be like that? Should I do anything about it? If so, what do I need to do? I realize that this has been discussed before, I just couldn't find the thread in the archives or through Google. TIA Ulrich

Migrating to GRUF sensible, possible?

I have a Zope site with an (out of the box) acl_users in its root containing lots of (700+) users, and a Plone site a few layers down within the site, which currently inherits user data from the acl_users in the root. Either using GroupUserFolder (GRUF) at the root of my site and getting the existing acl_users into it, or setting up GRUF in Plone so it inherits users from the ordinary acl_users above it would make it possible to administer users sensibly in both the Zope-only and Plone parts of my site. Plone (2.04) claims GRUF is optional, but I don't think it is. But I can't see how to do either task, though I have read the book, googled around, etc. Is what I want to do sensible? Possible? Thanks for any help or pointers -- Mark Barratt
