Syncing Zope 2.6.1 to 2.7.3

Hi, I really tried to get this working, but it feels a bit strange. I have two Zope instances: A: Zope 2.6.1 (binary release, python 2.1, linux2-x86), python 2.1.3, linux2 B: Zope 2.7.3-0, python 2.3.3, linux2 I installed ZSyncer 0.6.0 on both machines. When I try to sync from B to A everything works fine. Syncing from A to B doesn't work at all. When I try to open the "Sync" page I get an error immediately. (Please find the error messages below.) Any advice would be appreciated. I already tried to filter meta types. I did not change the default meta type selection. I am out of ideas. Ulrich # Whoops, Error! image objects into table via python script

Hello, I am using a python script to generate an HTML table structure. The script is called from a page template, like this: The script (renderTable) iterates over items returned from a catalog query which is passed one parameter. To put for example a date or string property in the table is easy, like this: ... for item in resultItems: print("<td>") print(item.creation_date.strftime('%B %Y')) print("</td>") ... return printed What I really need to put in the table, though, are Image objects that are part of the objects returned. How can I put the Image object into the table structure returned by the script, so that the Image object will render itself as usual? If the previous answers did not give you what you want: You need to put the image tag in the printout: for item in resultItems: print '<td>' print '<img src="%s" width="%s" height="%s" alt="%s">' % (item.urloftheimage, item.width, item.height, item.caption) print '</td>' ... return printed Just remember that images are fetched after the page is rendered, so you should get a page even if the image url is wrong. You need to make sure that the query is returning your image object, not just its id. First, and I think you know this, recall that you're not including the Image object, but rather an HTML 'img' tag that will display the image. There could be any number of problems, but make sure that what you think has an Image object in context actually does. Are you sure that you're not being given a BLOB or a name? To get the tag rendered from an Image, you can call the image. So put a pair of parentheses on the end of the name. This should be the exact same effect as the 'tag' method. (I do this by memory, so don't take it as gospel.) Finally, you should re-think doing HTML in a script. That's really what templates are for. You can use scripts for creating the list of items or doing complex transformations, but actually creating the HTML is not usually recommended. --jcc

Hi I try to do a thing but I don't know if I can or if there are better solutions I would like to put a lines property to an object with these content A:1 B:1:aa C:3:bb,cc I would like to know if I could do searches in the keyword index with and index I would like to get aa If I would like to know the 3th part of B:1:aa Can I? Is there any other option? Thanks!

I was able to do this by changing the name of the Zope python installation to match a corresponding regular python installation (temporarily rename it first), then changing the name back afterwards. This fools the package installers, at least the ones that check the Windows registry for the python location. However, in many cases you only need to copy the directories that were installed in some other python installation - but make SURE to delete all *.pyc and *.pyo files when you do that, since they seem to contain path information that will now be wrong. You may also need to get the new locations into the python path, and the easiest way to do that is to put them into a .pth file. Put the file into the same directory as the Zope python executable. Python Packages and Zope windows binary install

I need to run zope on windows. The binary installs fine, but it creates its own installation of python. What is the best method to install python packages to zope's python installation. Currently, I have Zope-2.7.2 and python 2.3.3 installed. I have been using windows installers to install packages (dav, libxml2, mx, python-mysql) into my dedicated python installation. I tried hacking around in the registry to get the installers to see Zopes python, but no luck :(. At this point I have been just copying the files from my dedicated python/site-packages directory over to my zope-python/site-packages directory. So far this seems to work just fine, but then again, I have not put it through many test. Could someone please enlighten me. Is this correct way of doing this..Is this the preferred way of doing this...Is there a better way of doing this. BTW, I do not have a Windows C compiler, and from what I have seen python recommends using Microsoft Visual Studio ( And I know my company will not pay for that ). Thanks. Will Smith

Paul, Is it possible that you are looking at http://yoursiteroot.com/manage_main or http://yoursiteroot.com/manage ? manage_main will not show the left frame. Kevin Well, I moved Data.fs from the working server to the new server (after shutting Zope down on both of course) and the problem STILL persists!!!! This is really frustrating .. I mean, it worked fine for 3 days then suddenly doesn't work .. no errors in logs, what the ???? ANynody have any last suggestions before I resort to re-installing everything fresh from source??? Problems with unicode and other encodings.

Hi List, I don't know much about encodings, so please excuse any ignorance I display. I am having a problem with encodings. I have restructuredText objects, and text fields in a database that are interpreted as restructuredText. Either of these can be edited by lay people, and in many cases, will be copied wholesale from Word. This produces a problem when these pages are viewed, because they contain improper characters, such as the ones mentioned in this article: http://effbot.org/zone/unicode-gremlins.htm This article presents a way to convert these characters to Unicode, which seems to work quite well, in and of itself. However, if I retrieve database fields, convert them, and then attempt to reinsert them, with the unicode characters, I get a UnicodeEncodeError, because it is attempting to encode these characters as ascii before inserting them in the database. What are possible solutions to these problems? Is there are standard practice that needs to be followed? Should I maintain the data as it is, and simply convert it to unicode before display? Alternatively, should I enforce a policy where those characters cannot be used? Is unicode the encoding I should be using? Thanks for any help. Alec Munro

Installed Products

Does the list of installed products shown in the Control Panel actually get verified when Zope starts up or is it just a static list which gets updated when new products are added? AIUI the products shown should correspond to directories in the Products directory under Zope, but whilst the Control Panel shows ArchExample was installed, no such directory exists. Can anyone explain what is going on? Can I get Zope to refresh the list of products? -- John
