hi to all, i'm playing with i18n:translate tag of ZPT. I would like a way to force i18n to show me the right language which is NOT setted on the browser, but on a cookie setted by a user preference interface. I tried some way to do that but none worked; i think that there can be only two solutions to that : Find a way to overwrite the default language of the browser (is it possible ? or it's something that has to be done only on to the browser ? ) Find a way to tell i18n:translate="" to change to i18n:translate="lang" (where lang is a tal variable that stores the language user preference); however i was not able to find how to do that evaluation of lang and i18n:target="string:something" seems not to work. Any other solutions ? Any hints ? Many thanks Samuele

Invalidating a session, creating a new

Hi all, In the zope book, sessions chapter, is written: "Manually Invalidating A Session Data Object Developers can manually invalidate a session data object. When a session data object is invalidated, it will be flushed from the system, and will not be returned by subsequent references to REQUEST.SESSION or getSessionData(). " and : "...subsequent references to REQUEST.SESSION in this same request will return a new session data object." I would like to be able to invalidate the session object, and then create a new session with a new key, to be accessed in the next request. But I find that when invalidating a session data object, I can *still* access the old session data in subsequent references to REQUEST.SESSION, in the same request that is. I do not get a new session data object, as I should according to the zope book. And therefore I can not reference the new keys I create in the following requests. Has anyone got a solution for this problem ? It seems the invalidation goes on "between" requests. Is this an error with the sessioning machinery or in the zope book ? Lotus Notes-like functionality/product in Zope

Hi, I'm a big fan of Lotus Notes - we use it in our company (a development shop) for various tracking type of databases (bugs, issues, change control, feature requests...). Notes is quite easy to use and it is easy to design forms and views. I also like Zope and Plone. While Notes is good for very structured information, it isn't great for developing portal type applications. Ideally I'd like to have the best of both worlds - structured forms and views that are easy to construct yet integrated into the Zope environment with all the things that Zope is good for. Has anyone has tried to write a very simple Notes-like product for Zope? Is there anything out there similar? I was thinking about this yesterday and it shouldn't be difficult to design a simple forms editor/viewer and a "view" designer. Can anyone point me in the right direction for going about this? Zope Community Contentment (Part II)

Hi everyone, a while back Katrin Wodzicki (Katrin.Wodzicki_at_uni-jena.de) conducted a poll about the contentment of the Zope community. She has now prepared a second questionnaire that is based on the answers from the first one. This questionnaire is pretty short and I filled it out in about 10 minutes (since I wrote a lot -- most people will need only 5 minutes). The questionnaire is available bi-lingual in German and English at http://evaluation.gocept.com until December 5. Please take a moment to fill out the forms. It will help not only Katrin to finish her Diploma (German College degree), but also the Zope Community to better understand our community's strongholds and shortcommings. etcUserFolder authentication fauls

Hello I just installed zope & plone. zope - ver 2.7.3 cmf - 1.5.0 plone 2.0.4 python 2.3.4 etcUserFolder - 1.2.0 I created a folder (auth/) in plone (csse/), and used etcUserFolder to validate users. Who ever I have in the password file I can see them under /csse/auth/acl_users (not editable mode), so far so good. Default role - tech (I defined it earlier) Authentication type standard basic I created a index.html file under folder auth/ and I did the following changes in the auth/ security 1) unchecked acquire for permission view 2) checked view permission for role tech so that when you try to view the the index.html it's ask for authentication, but it keep failing!!! zeo configuration

Hello! Is there any way to configure the zeo server to only listen to requests coming from the localhost? I couldn't find any documentation concerning the zeo configuration file. Basically, I would like to secure my zeo Server from access via the internet without resorting to iptables. Thanks for any tips, >>MM

Problems during installation of Zope3 on Mac OS 10.3.6

Dear All, I try to install Zope3 on my Mac computer. The machine has two Python installation, the one provided by Apple (version 2.3) and version 2.3.4 I has issued "$ ./configure --with-python /usr/local/bin/python" to use Python 2.3.4, then issued "make"; "make check".
