Zope Init Script For Gentoo

Hi All, Anyone have a script for Gentoo I can drop into /etc/init.d to start/restart/shutdown a Zope instance? I installed Zope from source, not the ebuilds, so I can't use the scripts Gentoo provides. I was planning to work on this, but since I'm not very good at programming, and there may be no reason to re-invent the wheel... TIA. Samir.

set Expires header in ZPT

I've tried this in ZPT: <span tal:define="dummy python:request.response.setHeader('Expires', 0); dummy python:request.response.setHeader('test', 'test')"> <h1 tal:content="python:request.response.getHeader('test')"/> <h1 tal:content="python:request.response.getHeader('a')"/> </span> It happens that only the "test" header is displayed, the "Expires" header is not. Does Zope do somethine special with "Expires" header ? How can I set it then ? Through property ?

You're missing some stuff in your setup. Apache runs on port 80, zope on 7080. I'm serving a combination of static, dynamic, PHP generated content. Currently Zope content is accessed through http://smishra.cbauh.com/z/, and this URL serves content from http://<ZopeInstance>:8080/apacheVirtualHost. The last proxy setting is needed to get the management screens to display with the right style sheets. So far everything is working fine. This includes management screens. Note that if you have a root Zope folder named 'z', and that's what you want to access through Apache, then the above can be reduced to ProxyPass /z http://localhost:7080/VirtualHostBase/http/smishra.cbauh.com:80/VirtualHostR oot/z/ Also, you may have to experiment with the '/' at the ends. Perhaps you can help on some additions I need to make to my setup. Since I need to do pattern matching, I'm quite certain I need to use rewrite rules in Apache. I want to block access to all management screens on HTTP (port 80), and allow access to the management functions only through HTTPS. But I'd like to be "nice" about this. E.g., if a user tries to access http://smishra.cbauh.com/z/manage<ANYTHING> they would be re-directed to http://smishra.cbauh.com/z/ without being asked (a security feature). If you happen to come up with anything, do let me know. And as you're trying to pitch Zope, perhaps this may add fuel. One of the things I'm doing in Zope is generating PHP/HTML templates through Zope, saving the same on the local filesystem so Apache can do its stuff. We want to extend this to JSP too, I haven't had the time to figure this out yet. And I end up having to save templates to the local directory and then using APache PHP AddHandler stuff to render the PHP. I'd like to skip the saving to directory part and pipe the PHP stuff directly from Zope to Apache. Not sure if this makes sense... All the best. Try removing the SiteRoot object and instead using VirtualHostMonster - yes even if you are only going to have one Zope domain. Then change the syntax of your ProxyPass rules to use the VHM syntax. I can't explain exactly why the VHM setup cures the problem when SiteRoot does not, but it worked for me in a very similar setup.

Rendering DTML from string

Hello all, I'm reading in text from a file residing in a LocalFS object, it contains DTML code. My DTML method prints the DTML code rather than rendering the variables. How can I get it to change this behaviour? IE --- In a folder I have 3 object - a_dtml b_html c_LocalFS-- | -- x.txt File contents - b_html ------ <h2>This should display as title text</h2> x.txt ----- <dtml-var name="b_html"> I need a_dtml to display - <h2>This should display as title text</h2> instead I get - <dtml-var name="b_html"> I've tried <dtml-var "_.getattr(c_LocalFS, 'x.txt')"> and a number of other variations on the same (getitem, etc. ) but can's seem to get this to work. What do I need to do to get a DTML method to render a string containing dtml code? Thanks. Samir

dtml-in sort_expr and expression

Dear all, I have problem with sorting by values. I have numbers in database in textual form. I need something like <dtml-in database sort=a,b> this sorting is bad becaouse a and b are strings, not numbers. But following examples <dtml-in database sort_expr="int(a),int(b)"> <dtml-in database sort_expr="_str(a).int(),_str(b).int()"> returns errors for all what I was try. ExternalFile question

Hello: i was first using Extfile to allows some users to attach files to some projects they create using zope. Extfile worked fine, except that i couldn't tell it _where_ i wanted the repository. So off to ExternalFile, which works just lovely. But Extfile have a lovely "link" attribute (or somesuch) to build a quick href to the file so users could download it and view at her/his leisure. How do I accomplish this with ExternalFile? I have perused the code, googled it, read the README, got the t-shirt ... and found no explaination to this. Refresh causes spinning Zope (bug with my Product?)

I am runnning Zope-2.7.0/Python-2.3.3/ZEO on Linux and have been having problems with refreshing a Product that I wrote in-house. Upon refreshing, Zope stops responding, and Apache/FastCGI eventually times out waiting for a response. This was also a problem with Zope-2.6.4/ZEO but not Zope-2.4.3/ZEO; but the machines and custom-product code also changed between 2.4.3 and 2.6.4. Upgrade to 2.7.0: servic-start problem and copy of data.fs

Hi all, Two questions for my upgrade from 2.6.4 to 2.7.0 on Windows NT 4.0 sp 6a 1) I have installed Zope as service, but when I start Zope Service I have this message: The procedure entry point RegisterServiceCtrlHandlerExW could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll In Google I have seen another person with this problem, but no solution: there are hints? 2) I have simply copied my old data.fs in Zope-instance var: (nearly) everything seems work, but is this correct or it is better exporting and importing my Zope-site folders?
