Hooks for performance measurement

I would like to know the processing time and latency for each published object in my production Zope system. There are likely to be hooks in the system which can give me the access I need: I want to have my program get called when a threads begins to publish an object and again when a thread completes publication. I scanned the 2_6 documentation but did not find a list of hooks (something that perhaps ought to be there). Is there a list of hooks in the Zope code body and when they are called?

I got hit with the same snag when I first dove into this as well. Don't use the Proxy stuff directly, use it via mod_rewrite. I forget where I finally found that info. Hello. I am still having a problem with this. What I don't understand is why I am getting an error when both DTML methods involved and the Z SQL method being called are in the same folder. In this case(by default), Zope should be looking in this folder for the Z SQL method when the second DTML method calls it. If the DTML method and Z SQL method were in different folders, then it is possible to lose the context. Help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. PlacelessTranslationService problem

I installed PlacelessTranslationService but it fails to translate. My .po file is OK. Zope 2.7 reads it correctly. When I test the translation in /Control_Panel/TranslationService/manage_main, it translates correctly. But the simples example from http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/ComponentArchitecture/ZPTInterna… does not translate the message. Here's the example: <b i18n:translate="" i18n:domain="ibc" i18n:target="string:cz">Good morning</b> What's the problem? Is there some other product that must be installed so that i18n markup is processed? I need this for plain Zope 2.7, without CMF or Plone. -- Milos Prudek

dreamweaver WebDAV confusion

I run Zope with WebDAV source port. Dreamweaver MX 2004 authenticates successfully and I can browse directories. To avoid problems, I use extensions. I created an "a.zpt" Page Template in the ZMI. When I double-click it in Dreamweaver, dw checks it out (green check mark displayed next to the a.zpt file) but dw will display nothing. dw behaves as if no file was opened. No error message. Thank you for the response. I did almost exactly the same thing as you did--except substitute "Authenticated" for "Manager". This should have affected only the Anonymous role, but instead rendered the entire tree from that point down inaccessible to all users, including Managers, Owners, and the Admin account. Also, a recent experiment yielded interesting, and troubling, results: rather than removing privileges from the Anonymous role, I tried adding some. That produced the same result--after the change, that folder and all objects below it were inaccessible no matter what username and password I tried. At this point I'm thinking there's something corrupted somewhere, and I'm considering doing an export of everything that's absolutely necessary for the site, then importing that into a fresh install of Zope. Of course, I don't *know* that the export won't include whatever's causing the problem, thus carrying over to the new install, but it's all I've come up with at this point. Does anyone have a better idea?

This is NOT an April's Fool! Possible bug in ZCatalog ?

Hello, Sorry about the long subject line but - this thing has been bugging us all day and I actuaaly thought it was someone making an April's Fool out of me :-) I hav a setup with Zope-2.6.2 and CMF-1.3 - here there is a portal_catalog which inherits from ZCatalog. It has a default index named 'path' (which contains the path to the object) It did contain the path untill we reindexed the entire catalog - the the path index in every object contained a lot of html code. Not so good :-) I then discovered that a person had joined the site with the username 'path' and then the contents of his home folder got indexed in the 'path' index - damn! I'm not sure how you could make a fix for this, but the index method should somehow deal with what kind of content get's indexed into the indexes (IMO). Anyone else who has experienced this - and how do you prevent it from happen? Greetings, Gitte Wange

Upgrading to Zope 2.7.0 final from Zope 2.6.2

Hei, We are now running this Zope version behind Apache 2.0: Zope Version (Zope 2.6.2 (binary release, python 2.1, linux2-x86), python 2.1.3, linux2) Python Version 2.1.3 (#1, Sep 19 2002, 13:15:46) [GCC egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)] System Platform linux2 Our Zope was installed using this file: Zope-2.6.2-linux2-x86.tgz Further we have Plone 2.0-RC3 installed. And then not much else. Now we would like upgrade to Zope 2.7.0 final and Plone 2.0-final. As we have never upgraded a Zope on a linux before, I thought I should ask some questions before we go ahead.. 1. The Zope-2.7.0\doc\INSTALL.TXT describes installing Zope from source. If I follow this description, what will then happen to the Zope 2.6.2 that I am allready running? 2. Should I do something with my Zope 2.6.2 before starting installing Zope 2.7.0? 3. After following the above installation guide. Can I then just take the data.fs file from Zope 2.6.2 and put it into the \Zope-Instance\var\ directory of my new Zope-2.7.0, restart Zope, and then be happy running the "old" web applications again? 4. Or can I/should I just export my Zope 2.6.2 web applications and then import them into Zope-2.7.0? Cheers and Thank you very much! I am very eager to try out the new Zope : ) Børge
