Need to programmatically change image content

Hello, I need to programmatically replace the 'content' (e.g. the image file data, if I grok correctly) of an Image object with new data via file upload from web form. I imagine I could just delete the existing object and then add the new one... Zope Member Log In behavior

Hi, When you log in to Zope's management screens, I've noticed that users with access only to deeper folders are forwarded to their deeper folders automatically. They never see the Root folder or any other folders above theirs. I'd like to mimic this, how would I make a common login that redirects an accepted "member" user to their home folder? -Jonathan Cyr cyrj(a)cyr.info

Active Zope threads and connection cache size

Does the size of the connection cache need to grow when Zope runs more threads. I currently am running 8 threads (default 4). I note that the current OODB connection cache size is FIXED at 7. Do I need to increase the size? I would have guessed the connection cache should be somewhat larger than the number of threads and that it should be set dynamically. Can anyone hazard a guess as to what it should be? twice the number of threads? more? I am running Zope 2.6.3b2 but I think the same question is relevant for all versions of Zope.

You have some pretty special requirements in that you need to keep metadata in sync with audio files and notation files. I would strongly recommend that you have a look at Archetypes. It gives you a lot of flexibility in this area. You could for example extend the ATAudio product to be referenceable to a ATNotation type. In this way, you can upload your Audio files with all metadata intact, and then "link" this audio file to a corresponding Notation file that you have also uploaded. Using WebDAV, you can get these files into your site very quickly by drag-n-drop, and you won't have to enter all the metadata into your site because it will already be embedded in the OGG files. As for the notation, I know that Andrew Kuchling from the docutils project wrote a directive for the ABC music language. http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=7625994 Michael Hauser is working on getting this to work in a Zope/Plone site, which means you could upload a notation file, and it would be rendered in the site as a PNG image. Well, the Zope caching is not very robust and eats up a lot of RAM. You can reduce the hit on your Zope server a lot by using Apache or Squid caching in front of Zope. Basic Security question

I thought I understood permissions and roles, but... I have a folder ('Data') with the 'View' security role set to 'Authenticated', and 'Acquire Permissions' is NOT checked for 'View'. When, as an 'anonymous' user, I try to access an object within the 'Data' folder the security popup window (enter your name/password) is displayed. This works as I expected it to. I have created a dtml method called 'Display'. This test routine is hardcoded to display an object from the 'Data' folder. I have set the Proxy role for the Display method to "Authenticated". When, as an 'anonymous' user, I access the 'Display' method the security popup window appears?! Shouldn't the Proxy role assigned to the dtml method enable access to the object in the folder? Any and all help appreciated! Jonathan

type in python scripts

How does one check the type of a variable in a python script? I get a global name error when I try to use the type method. I am just trying to write a generic python script which iterates over all members of form and generates hidden input tags for each, preserving the type, so I have to check the type of each form value in order to generate the correct field name. --sam

finding my root

HI all, I am having some strange behavior with zope. When I log into manage I get the following error: Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Resource not found Sorry, the requested resource does not exist. Check the URL and try again. Resource: sequence-odd ________________________________________________________________________ Troubleshooting Suggestions * The URL may be incorrect. * The parameters passed to this resource may be incorrect. * A resource that this resource relies on may be encountering an error. For more detailed information about the error, please refer to error log. If the error persists please contact the site maintainer. Thank you for your patience. I can't figure out what I may have done to cause this but I can't access my root folder now. Any hints on how to fix this would be most appreciated. Thanks Aaron
