Hi all I try to use traverse_subpath in my product but I can't found a real good solution I found some pages explaining you need to override __bobo_traverse__ or __getitem__ in order to implement traverse_subpath on a product but I think it's a really poor solution My question could be: Is there any simple solution to implement traverse_subpath on my product? TIA

Largefile support error

Hello! Classic disclaimer here: I'm not sure if this is the right list, so I apologize if I'm in the wrong place. Please be so kind as to redirect me, if this is the case! :) I'm trying to install Zope, to play around with (I've never used it before, but a development environment that lets me run with Python easily, is kinda nice), but I'm having an issue with Largefile support. I'm getting the error: "This Python interpreter does not have 'large file support' enabled. Large file support is required to allow the default Zope ZODB database to grow larger than 2GB on most platforms. Either install a Python interpreter with large file support (see http://www.python.org/doc/current/lib/posix-large-files.html) or run this program again with the --ignore-largefile option to prevent this warning, with the understanding that your Zope may fail if the ZODB database size ever exceeds 2GB." Now, I follow the URL, and I get a list of flags to recompile Python with. I follow their directions (doing a make clean, with Python first), and stuff's *still* not compiling. I run the python interpreter, and try the 'import test.test_largefile', and it says that the filesystem doesn't support largefile... should I be asking a Python group about this? has anyone else run into something similar? What is the Python script that is similar to a dtml-in call

Hi, I need some advice. I still use dtml calls in my systems. My problem is if the user is searching for a record but the record is not found. The call is as follows: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('serial_number', serial_number)"> <dtml-in lookup_header_record> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('equip_type', equip_type)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('pr', pr)"> </dtml-in> If the record is not found I get this error: Error Type: KeyError Error Value: equip_type True statement since there is not record and further in the form I am trying to output this variable. Are there any examples that either traps for an error or python script that can also lookup the record and true a found/not found status. Thanks, Larry

reserved words?

Debugging a dtml page that won't save, found <dtml-if expr="exec=='1'">checked</dtml-if> is the culprit. exec is a Python reserved word, I discover. Can I use it anyway through some kind of escape notation in the expression, or do I have to change the database and all the other scripts I've spent a happy weekend writing? You'll gather I'm not a Python person (yet!), so please don't assume I'll know much background. RestrictedPython module problem

Hi. I try to transfer my application to newer versions of Zope and Plone. I've been using Zope 2.6. (Python 2.1.3), Plone 1.0.?. Now I want to use Zope 2.7, Plone 2.0.?. After dealing with some simple problems I got something I couldnt'n handle. Looks like implementation of RestrictedPython module has changed, the getiter (_getiter_) variable has been used, and I got trouble because of that. Hi Guys, What can we do about Zope.org? I've heard so much about it's problems but so little seems to happen :-( The site seems to be totally unresponsive a fair bit of the time now, which is pretty appalling in what should be the flagship of a stable and reliable web application server. I know it was a less-than-minor hamper to the bug day on Friday that people often couldn't view or update bugs due to Zope.org taking over a minute to respond to requests, when it responded at all. There's also the fact that it purports to run on a version of Zope with known security issues (2.6.2) For once, I'm trying to approach this with an open mind so just wanted to ask some questions: - What are the problems with Zope.org? Why does is appear to be so unstable and unresponsive? (I could suggest why, but then I accept I have an unpopular opinion at the base of that suggestion ;-) - What do people have to do to help out? I have a perceptionthat there are people who want to help out but that they feel the barrier to entry is too high. (For example, who can actually get in and restart the clients, should they be suffering from memory bloat?) - Where should this be discussed? (zope-web(a)zope.org has been dead for 4-6 months now) I hope the above can at least kick off some discussion but I'd really like to see some solutions. UserCounter and ASP404

I am currently using ASP404 (http://zope.org/Members/hiperlogica/ASP404) to front a Zope server with IIS and UserCounter (http://zope.org/Members/SeanT/UserCounter) on the Zope server. It seems the IP addresses reported in UserCounter are all the IP of the IIS server. Is it possible to modify UserCounter or ASP404 to correct this so that the end user IP is listed ? I am suspecting if it is possible that some change in the ASP404 script is required but exactly what and where is not obvious to me. Has anybody encountered and corrected this problem before?

zope (with cmf) instance being frequently restarted by signal SIGSEGV(11)

Hi, I have a cmf site that has begun restarting frequently and at random intervals for no apparent reason. This first occurred about 2 weeks ago for about 2-3 days with the instance being restarted every 15 mins at worst. This problem disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. 2-3 days ago this same problem reappeared but with the site sometimes being restarted 10 times in a 15 minute period. I can find no sequence of url calls or any common reason for this to be occurring. The only thing I could find was the following entry appearing in the event log matching the times I have witnessed the instance restarting via top. ERROR(200) zdaemon Process 25606 terminated by signal SIGSEGV(11) The only changes that have occurred around the time of this first problem turning up was (other than normal site operation with members/items being add/deleted): -the cpu and memory being upgraded. This was returned to the original memory and cpu state to make sure this wasn't the cause. These have been swapped in/out with no change so it looks like it is just coincidence. -some site zope images were modified to set the 'precondition' attr to call a python script to set response headers for caching of images in apache... This hasn't been undone as the data.fs has since been packed. Is there any way this could be related??? There is no obvious signs of anything malicious going on, but this is always a possibility I guess? What to check for? As this has basically brought the site to its knees with proxy errors displayed more often than not, has anyone got suggestions on what to look for. possibilities (however remote) as I am pretty desperate to get this fixed. If there is a simple explanation, what could cause it to start out of the blue? The only possible answer I have come up with while searching is about the thread stack size being to small. And having to recompile python with this set to a larger figure. Is this related to the problem I am having, and is there an easy way to check if this is the case for the version I have running? If this is what I need to do, is there a good link for details on what needs to be done and how to do it? Override a method of an instance in the ZODB?

Hello zope gurus, I'm wondering if it is possible to override a method on a single instance of an object in the ZODB. My suspicion is no, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Specifically, I've tried: def userFolderDelUsers(self, names): pass from types import MethodType setattr(acl_users, 'userFolderDelUsers', MethodType(userFolderDelUsers, acl_users, acl_users.__class__)) Which works fine until the transaction gets committed, at which point it fails with "TypeError: can't pickle function objects". Which seems pretty much like a lost cause. Can you only do this at the class level? Is there an unrelated way to accomplish the same goal (overriding a method, without monkeypatching or subclassing)? calling procedures in external methods.

Probably a stupid question, but .. Suppose I have external methods f(self, x, y z ) and g(self, p, d, q) defined in an external method. When f references g in the external method, does it do so using self.g(p,d,q) or g( self, p, d, q) or does it matter.
