so, what can I do to find the problem. Can I create a python script to find it. Because I know that it's can be : - a port problem, (but I think the RSS file use the 80) - a firewall problem - a router problem (I suppose that the network administrator have upgrade correctly all the router) - something else. I am completely lost in this problem. Erroneus length of lines

Hi I create a lines property and I could see a strange effect: Empty lines properties has lenght = 1 Is these correct? How can I create an empty lines property? TIA

I have had this happen to me - access to the rss file required a login and the rss reader was unable to cope with it. Now just *why* it required a login when I had set all the permissions I could find to "anonymous" and the state to "published" I never figured out. TAL: Replacing an attribute in a macro call

I have a macro defined for a "select" item that I now would like to put twice in my page. This means I need to have to different names for the items, but I can't seem to figure out how to change an attribute while calling a macro. My macro definition looks like this: <select metal:define-macro="user" name="user" tal:define="items python:container.function()"> <div tal:repeat="option items" tal:omit-tag=""> <option tal:content="option/data">Call Type</option> </div> </select> What I had hoped I could do is use the macro like this: <select metal:use-macro="container/selects/macros/user" name="somethingelse"> ... </select> but this doesn't work as the macro overwrites that attribute with its own (which makes sense). I have tried leaving the name undefined in the macro, but it then renders without a name. What is the "correct", or at least idiomatic way to do this? Thanks, Mark Roach

Problems changing user roles

Hi all!! I'm newbie on the Zope development. I'm creating a site using Zope + Plone. The site will have several new roles because there will be some folders only accessible for some users. So I need to differentiate the different users when they sign in to the site, in order to give them they role. To do this, I've tried to change the "register" script. What I want to do is to get a new field from the "Sign on sheet" to know the role of the new user, and then add him with it. I'm attaching you my register code. As you will see, I just have changed the line that contains the addMember method, trying to set to the new user the "System developer" role, but it doesn't works. When I fill the "join_form", Zope redirects me to the "login_form" page. Hey Chris Why WinDoze? My boss is a MS Fanatic? :-( I can only work with what I am given. I am lucky to be trying an Open Source product! I have looked at LocalFS... that was my first thought. Unfortunately even though I have a few years at application programming, Python and the Concepts of Web Programming are completely new to me. I am finding myself in an awkward position. After reading everything I could get my hands on I simply could not figure out how to get going with it. It appears to me that most of the info on the net assumes a more basic level of knowledge than I possess at the moment. The LocalFS would be perfect for our needs. No. There were no error msg. Zope would not start. I thought it might have something to do with the line that said something about "at least one DB must be mounted at / for zope to start". Unfortunately the archive at nipltd is definitely gone. Does anyone know a good search interface for the mailing list archives? I don't like the Active State search interface that much. Or otherwise is it possible to download somewhere the whole mailing list archive as one file?

type in python scripts

How does one check the type of a variable in a python script? I get a global name error when I try to use the type method. I am just trying to write a generic python script which iterates over all members of form and generates hidden input tags for each, preserving the type, so I have to check the type of each form value in order to generate the correct field name. --sam
