How to get exact requested URL (was: Current location: is my script reliable?)

If you need the exact URL that was requested by the browser including *) trailing and double slashes and *) query strings, then the attached script is for you. Example usage: tal:define="location here/location" tal:attributes="href string:$location#documentContent" I've tested it with several Zope versions and vhost setups. Limit public viewable access to a internet ready Zope/Plone /VHM Site

Hi All at Zope/Plone Mailing list. I have installed Zope.2.7.0 , Plone 2 ,VHM ,CMF 1.4 and Apache 2 on our new web server to be deployed on Linux o/s flavour - SuSE 8.2 Enterprise Server. Currently deployed is Zope 2.6.2 ,Plone RC2,VHM, CMF 1.4 and Apache 1.3. Anyway I have got my Zope/Plone Site up on the New Server but my problem is I need to deploy on the old and new web server a Plone Site in development that must only be accessable and viewable using the issuing user and password dteails only. I have done this similiar before for my previous employer for external content authoring for zope manager's but this time the Plone site in particular shouldn't be viewable to the public only a few editors and myself while we work on the Plone site but I need external contributors to make additions to the Plone site but not viewable to the general public. Is at all possible for both versions to allow this if So please could someone point me in the right direction. Production Advice

Greetings All, After a long dev cycle, I'm putting a Zope web app into production shortly... and need some advice. What is a good daily backup strategy with Zope 2.71? I'll be running ZEO, and only use three add-on products, Formulator, VarImage and PIL. My application consists of regular items in the ZODB, two python Products, and a half-dozen ZClasses Right now, I'm developing on a WinXP machine, and am considering SuSE 9.1 for my spec, any experiences, good or bad?... YAST2-installed or manually? All advice would be helpful as I weigh my options, -Jon Cyr cyrj(a)cyr.info

Fiddly Apache Rewrite / VHM Configuration

Hi All, I have a situation where I need to map a /path/ below an (already redirected) host name to a different site. So, I have: - Site1.com -> Site1PathInZope ...but now I need to add: - Site1.com/path -> Site2PathInZope This is another ISA server issue - I am serving these sites through ISA server, which has a single host name protected by SSL, and is capable of redirecting based on the path, but not of stripping off the (then redundant) path. I have successfully set (in ISA server) a forwarder to direct requests with the path in question to the correct site in Zope, but the forwarded request still has "/path" appended, so instead of going to "Site2PathInZope" they are calling "Site2PathInZope/path". File extensions and log analysis

Has anyone tackled and come to a workable resolution wrt the issues surrounding file name extensions in Zope? Here's our current problem: in order to access images and other files with the syntax that we preferred in page templates, we did not use file extensions. Now, the issue that we're running into is in doing log analysis. We are not able to easily determine between page hits and just hits, since there are no extensions available to identify images from HTML pages from folders, etc. We've got several ideas for how to workaround this, but wanted to throw it out there to see if anyone else has dealt with this. We are running Zope 2.6.4, Python 2.1.3, and Webalizer. Thanks, -TJ

image uploading problems: changing of object type

hi!!! I am facing this situation. I upload images in to a ftp upload enabled folder. My task is to base64 encode the images and put it into another directory. I base64 encode the files using the external method. When i upload it, ZOPE takes the default type as image. Now if i rename the file into a *.dat file, then the encoding works. Now can i change the type of the object from "image" to ordinary "file" from a script python. Any working experiences in using compression (for storage)?

We are in the need to put more text information into Zope's database without exceeding its file-size. I know there's a product CompressedStorage out there, but it's kind of old. Hence I'd like to know whether there's succesful experiences on using it and/or compressing stuff inside ZODB. Which is the best approach for a task like this? Thanks in advance, Ausum
