Zope 2.8.4 install issue

Hi all, I am having far more trouble than I should be installing Zope 2.8.4 onto a WinXP machine. After unpacking and installing as per the default settings, when I create an instance and run C:\INSTANCEDIR\bin\runzope.bat I get "ImportError: No module named components.logger" in the Zope2\Startup\__init__.py module. I hacked __init__.py to add the relevant directories to the sys.path but this just meant that it failed further on in the startup process and I can foresee an endless path of path hacking that, I suspect, is unnecessary. I have now installed afresh and am back to square-one. The machine already has another working Zope elsewhere, sat underneath Plone 2.05. Has anyone encountered this before and what am I doing wrong? when sorting using <...tal:repeat subsection python:sequence.sort (subsections,(('title','nocase','asc'),))"> I get the following error: Module DocumentTemplate.sequence.SortEx, line 134 in nocase AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'lower' When I switch the 'nocase' to 'cmp' the sort defaults to sorting by order of entry or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't understand why you try to access Zope with SSL/https, plain Zope does not understand that protocol. If you try to use apache to do SSL for Zope, you will need it the other way around. Regular expressions are tricky with that stuff, so it's better to use 2 rules and be covered. Googling for [zope apache rewriterule], the ZopeWiki page (http://zopewiki.org/ZopeAndApache) comes on the first result page, while the witch is currently on the second page. VIRTUAL_URL Failure

Hi, On my Plone site, in CookieCrumbler.py, VIRTUAL_URL is not found in the request variable even though I have a Virtual Host Monster. This means that when logging in, the "came_from" URL that my site directs to becomes something ugly like http://my.domain.org/VirtualHostBase/http/my.domain.org:80/contentPages This doesn't seem to be an Apache rewriting issue. Should VIRTUAL_URL be found in the request variable and giving the right URL (http://my.domain.org/contentPages) and why isn't it showing up? Peace, George

zope/pone dies without traceback:cant uplaod data with umlauts anymore

Hi there, I want to upload data trough a form into a database. This used to work fine for a year or so. Now when ever there are non ascii characters in the text to upload zope dies without any traceback but the following: There is no entry in the error log, neither in plone nor in one of zope's log files. I tried to intercept the data, but it looks as if the error happens before I have a chance to see it. Serve large files efficiently from a pipe

Hi! Newer Zope versions have an interesting ability to serve large files efficiently given the file name ( http://plope.com/Members/chrism/ploneconf2004/2004pres.txt ). What about serving large files given file(-like) handler? It could be very beneficial sometimes, especially with dynamically generated content... Does Zope has anything for this?
