Hi I wonder if anybody could tell me what I am doing wrong. I installed zope 2.8, and plone 2.1 via synaptic. I also installed plone-site via synaptic. (When I installed this I was promted for a username and password) Now when I access: http://localhost:8081, I get a quickstart screen. When I click on the link to the management interface (http://localhost:8081/manage) I am promted for user name and password. It does not accept the username and password that I typed when setting up plone-site. I've been googling, and at one place there was an explanation that zope sets up an inituser file with a username and password. I found such a file under /var/lib/zope2.8/instance/plone-site/ with the following information in it: admin:{SHA}JPpU/BsXGIcv7LQrwgMiOS25PB4= I've tried to use this in various ways: username: admin password: {SHA}JPpU/BsXGIcv7LQrwgMiOS25PB4= or username: {SHA}JPpU password: BsXGIcv7LQrwgMiOS25PB4= That did not work. I tried to create a new inituser account using the following command weiers@weiers:/usr/lib/zope2.8/bin$ sudo python zpasswd.py inituser and then got the following feedback: The programme asked me for a username and a password, to repeat the password. I also selected SHA as a mode of encrypting the password, and left the domain restrictions blank. Unfortunately when I try to connect to (http://localhost:8081/manage) I still get the same problem. It won't accept my password. I tried to look for other inituser files on my computer, but I do not see any. ----> I am really stuck. I don't know how to get plone or zope to work on my computer. ZopeTestCase.Functional and sessions?

Hi, I've been using CMFTestCase and ZopeTestCase for integration tests and mostly finding it a pretty nice system to work with - I can finally test all the glue code in my skin scripts, which has always been a big blind spot in my tests. But one snag I've run into: ZopeTestCase.utils.setupCoreSessions() works fine with regular ZopeTestCase and CMFTestCase tests; but if I create a test derived from ZopeTestCase.Functional, when I call self.publish() the thread that handles the publishing (it is another thread, right?) has its own app.REQUEST which doesn't contain a SESSION object. The workaround is obvious: 1) Any script that uses sessions should only be tested with other techniques than publish(). 2) If you really want to test something about that script with publish(), the script should be coded so that it works around the possible lack of REQUEST.SESSION. But it would be nice if I didn't have to enforce that. #2 means that when I call publish() I am testing a code path that never actually comes up in production, so that doesn't seem like much of a real integration test. experience w/ filestorage mount points? maximum?

I am writing to tap the list's experience with running a single zope instance with a large number (30, 500, 2000?) of mount points. We're hosting a number of client sites, and for each client, e.g. clientX, we have a mount point: > <zodb_db clientX> > mount-point /clientX > <filestorage> > path $INSTANCE/var/clientX/Data.fs > </filestorage> > </zodb_db> Currently, we have about a dozen of these. This works well. Of course, more clients will increase server load, but so long as that is more or less linear and gradual, that's fine. Questions for the list: - What's the greatest number of mount points that folks have set up this way(50? 1000? more?) and what's been the experience, particularly with non-linear responses (e.g. "it all goes to pot after n=100")? - Are there any theoretical limits on the number of mount points? I've been using zope 2.7.4 on win 98 for some development/testing, not as a real server. But I'm confused by your statement: if zope 2.8.4 is calling an NT security function, not available in win98, then it does NOT run on win98?? DO you mean there is something wrong with my win98 setup or that zope 2.8.4 could be patched to overcome this issue? Thanks, Fernando

Setting a session's domain

Hi all, I'm developing a site that has multiple subdomains (i.e.: http://atlanta.website.com, http://nyc.website.com, etc.). Can anybody point me how can I get the session to be shared across these different subdomains? Unless someone can give me an opposite advise, I think I need to specify a "domain" to the cookie which is trivial for regular cookies but I just can't find how to do it with sessions (notice that I am I'm using Zope's regular request.SESSION). Problems using forms to upload files to Zope

Here's what I'm trying to accomplish: 1. The user fills out a form page with various fields 2. ZEO 3.4.2 Zope 2.8.4 ZODB 3.4.2 as relesed with Zope 2.8.4B Python 2.4.2 or 2.3.5 MySQL 4.0.20 MySQL-Python 1.2.0 MYSQLDA 2.0.9 We have just moved from Zope 2.7.6 to Zope 2.8.4 motivated, in part, but the ability to avoid read conflicts under ZODB 3.4.2. We have been having a lot of problems: more conflict errors, release of unreleased locks in MySQL transactions, loss of session variables, and others. We use session variables and MySQL very heavily. All database tables are now transactional (innodb) migrated from the MyISAM tables in use earlier. The connection string, by the way, does not use either the '-' or '+' prefix but relies on a run-time test for the table to be determined to be transactional. All our Zope instances run with ZEO and use a Temporary Store instance for session variables. We also see frequent KeyError failures in the session variable data structure which suggests that the copy-out/modify/copy-in mechanism used to tickle the persistence mechanism does not run to completion and so the Zope persistence fail and the session variable structure is pruned or removed at some random later time. Some diagnostics are seen which report that the REQUEST['SESSION'] is occasionally removed. Questions: ~~~~~~~~~~ What is the cause of the locking problem? Does ZMySQLDA/MySQL-Python/Zope have some path which should have called begin to get a lock and did not? What needs to be done to make session variables stable? Does the Temporary Storage method need to be extended to allow for rolling back a transaction? (What's a good approch if this is necessary? Is there any existing product supporting this?) Any other help or advice would be appreciated.

Problem Inserting zsql query result

Greetings, I would like to insert the results of a query into another table and am doing this from a python script. I am setting the results of a queryequal to a variable with the following: variable = container.zsql_method(paramater=value)[0][0] This gives the results I want (in this case "0"), but when I try to insert this variable using another zsql method, I get the following error: "MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '0\n)'" The value I want is there, but it has a newline character also. I try removing using .replace but then I get the following error: 'long' object has no attribute 'replace' I would greatly appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.
