why will FastCGI not be supported in the Future.

Hi, I'm a little bit puzzled why there are growing Number of Mails telling that the support for FastCGI will disappear in the future. Why is this. I am running multiple sites that are hybrides of apache/php and zope. It's very easy to set up such a config with mod fastcgi and Apache. It works just fine and very stable, even on heavy load. The posibility to Easy integrate Zope in existing apache/php server was one of our main reasons to use Zope. I know there is a way to do just the same with mod_proxy, but mod_proxy does open new connection for every request while fastcgi uses the same connection for all requests. The is no problem on low load. But with growing load, this can become a Problem. Issues with pyperl: perl2.so not found

I am attempting to install pyperl and am having an issue where it can't find perl2.so. resolving conflict errors

Zope 2.7.6 I am a bit confused. I have a Zope DTML method that is generating ZODB conflict errors. The DTML method identified as producing the conflicts is a list of calls to other methods, conditionally executed. Most conflicts don't cause problems because the backoff and restart of the initial transaction will not have changed global state. In our particular case, the conflicting transaction has changed global state in our RDBMS so when it gets rerun, some RDBMS transactions are duplicated. And that's a problem. The solution, of course, is to resolve the conflicts properly. The first question: what data is generating the conflict? The DTML code and all the method references are static and unchanged. What data does Zope store in the ZODB when an object is evaluated? Presumably conflicts can be reolved programatically by setting a method on the object _p_resolveConflict( self, old, saved, new ) and returning one or another of the states (old, saved, new). It's not real clear how to do it. --

120MB file import failures

Hello, I apologize if this is a FAQ, I could not find the answer. I would like to put a 120MB file into ZODB and it is constantly failing. TTW insert file fails but works on smaller fails. WebDAV fails but works on smaller files. Plus FTP fails having activate it as a last resort. My environment is FreeBSD 6 with current Zope, Python 2.3.x and a /tmp directory of 256MB... I noticed once that this could cause this failure. Any suggestions? I do have the file on the OS's filesystem but I see that the object "import" only applies to ZODB-ready files. Appreciated, Michael

I am pleased to announce the release of TextIndexNG V 3.1.1. TextIndexNG V 3 is a complete new implementation based on Zope 3 technologies and can be used both in Zope 2.8 or in Zope 3. What's new? - multi-field indexing and query support - multi-lingual support - configurable converters (through ZCML) - new indexing API (allowing you to hook your custom content types with TextIndexNG through Zope 3 adapters). Creating a DTM Document in a variable folder.

Hello, I don't have any Python experience yet, so who has a solution for this 'problem'. Example: I 've 3 folders a, b & c. I want to create a dtml document in a folder by a form. The folder is a variable in my form. The formis no problem, the form action is no problem. The python script to craete that document is my problem. Zope 2.8.4 strange behavior

Python2.4.2 Zope 2.8.4 ZODB/Zeo 2.3.4 Mysql 4.0 Dual Athalon processors Linux RH7.3 We have two recent instances in our production sites where Zope suddenly stops responding. It is not a new problem, but we've now been confronted with two clean examples and nothing to blame them on. The problem appears to be independent of load as both incidents were on lightly loaded machines. A check of the logs (Linux and Zope) shows nothing obviously amiss except that the trace log (the old -M log) shows a sudden increase in active requests from the typical 0 or 1 to 1300 or more. In this context an "active request' is total number of requests pending at the end of this request and is computed by post-processing. We front-end Zope with pound and make heavy use of MySQL. Both show a plethora of incomplete transactions. Examination of the raw trace log shows that Zope is continuing to accept requests, but nothing getting done. The raw log date-stamps four internal states for each transaction. The states are Begin (B), Input (I), action (A), and End (E). Inputs are gathered between B and I, outputs is made between A and E. The raw log shows B and I transactions, but apparently no processing is completing. I suspect that nothing is getting scheduled. I am at a loss as to where to begin to track this one down. The failure is spontaneous and apparently not triggered by any readily distinguishable inputs or pattern of inputs. The behavior smells a bit of resource limits or process synchronization problems, but there is not real evidence for either being the root cause. I am not sure what monitoring I should be doing to help locate the source of the problem. Has anyone seen seen a similar problem? Any advice as to how to proceed? --

PHPGateway Issues

Hello. I am trying to use PHPGateway with Zope but I get the following error: '/usr/bin/php' may not be a PHP-CGI program. The result from the program is empty(0 byte). Also, sometimes I get the error 'File Not Found' that is thrown by the browser. Has anyone successfully used this product with Zope and are there documents which cover common errors and solutions? Lastly, I am running on Mac OS X Tiger Server which comes with PHP 4 and I am running Zope 2.7.0. Can I use this copy of PHP or do I have to download and build my own from source? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

unicode problem

Hi, I've created a folder a put some dtml-methods, External python scripts and a Formulator Forms. It had worked fine till I put the Form's xml page the following line: <action>int_bev_feldolgoz</action> int_bev_feldolgoz is dtml method and at the moment only shows the value of REQUEST Having seen the result of this method I wanted to back to edit the content of the folder, but I couldn't continue. The following error message was displayed: Error Type: UnicodeEncodeError Error Value: 'latin-1' codec can't encode character u'\u0170' in position 22895: ordinal not in range(256) What shall I do? I don't want start it from scratch. All dtml-method with unicode characters worked smoothly. Can someone tell me how 'here/content' is translated in these lines? <span tal:define="stx python:modules['Products'].PythonScripts.standard.structured_text; the_text here/content" tal:content="structure python:stx(the_text)"> The structured text goes here. </span> When I use the URL 'www.mysite.org' the above resolves fine, but if I use 'www.mysite.org:8080/mysite' I get a 'Resource not found' when selecting the same link from the homepage of the same site. Is there something I've overlooked? -- John
