strftime and timezone

My zope application accesses a Postgres table with a timestamp field 'create_date' through ZPsycopgDA and I want to use strftime to format the date the way I like. However, I find that strftime returns a value that is not the same time as the original one, very likely due to some behind-scene timezone adjustment, which I don't understand and don't know how to control. The following PythonScript code is an illustration of my problem: msg=context.get_some_message t=msgs.create_date print t print t.strftime('%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S') return printed When called, the script returns: 2005/03/09 03:36:45 US/Central 2005-03-09 17:36:45 The question is, where does the 'create_date' object get the timezone information for the formatting, and how to achieve my desired output, that is '2005-03-09 03:36:45'? By the way, 'create_date' doesn't seem to be a Zope DateTime object, for when I tested with: t=DateTime() print t print t.strftime('%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S') The two prints give the same time value. For your information, in my ZPsycopgDA property, I have choosen the option: 'Use Zope's internal DateTime module (instead of mxDateTime)'. My zope version: 2.7.4 under Linux. Thanks for your help. Error calling a Z SQL method

I am calling a Z SQL method from within a DTML method that is called by a DTML document. The Z SQL method is contained within a folder called 'selects'. The error I get is as follows: Error Type: ValueError Error Value: Strings are not allowed as input to the in tag. The following is the syntax I use to call the DTML method from the DTML document: <dtml-call "initialize_parameters(REQUEST, _)"> And, the following is the code I use to call the Z SQL method (i.e. retrieve_data_sql) from within the DTML method (i.e. initialize_parameters): <dtml-in "selects.retrieve_data_sql()"> </dtml-in> I have used this same piece of code in other places without a problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

I'm creatin a customised login page template using districtname, user name and password. i got halt in d logic for password checking. after submitting d login form how do i call d same page if the passwd is wrong along with d req params passed? do i need an ext python script for this redirection. also tell how to set session data in ZPTs from the form fields? -- Share the vision of difference with ME

question about manipulating zcatalog query results

Hello all, I've moved a zope 2.5.1 (python 2.1.3) installation to two newer locations (zope 2.7.4/python 2.3.4 and zope 2.7.5/python 2.3.5) and scripts I have that iterate over zcatalog results using 'for' loops now fail with "global name '_getiter_' is not defined." I'm also unable to take the zcatalog result and manipulate it (split or concatenate instances sent to a list) without getting a "Record objects do not support [whatever action]"--even if I've asigned the result to another list and am operating on that list. ie--I used to be able to say: for row in result: res.append(row.id.split().pop(), row) but now can't, and can't even iterate over the list using a while loop, as the split will fail. I've found some reference to the _getiter_ problem on the forum, but the queries date from nearly a year ago, and there were no fixes at the time (save to wait for 7.4 to come out of beta). Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a workaround? What am I missing? thanks for any help/advice ira

Hi folks, I was creeped out by Zope scheduling products that started a separate thread to call methods at scheduled intervals and I got tired of setting up cron+wget to call Zope methods via HTTP, thus: http://plope.com/software/ClockServer It works by posing as a medusa server, and injects things that look like http requests into the publisher every so often. role, user defined roles, and inclusion

I guess I am confused about roles and how they are interpreted. A quick check of the Zope Book didn't provide the answer. It would be nice if there were an index for the book. I've always thought of the roles as flags without an deeper semantics. But I am seeing some behavior that suggests I my model may be wrong. Are the standard roles (anonymous, authorized_user, manager) inclusive? By inclusive I mean that an authorized_user is also treated as an anonymous_user and that a manager is also anonymous and an authorized_user. Are user_defined roles inclusive? Or are they separate and distinct? If `wizard` is a user defined role, is it also an authorized_user for security purposes? I suspect the real answer here is "it depends upon the implementation". If that's the case, what is the best practice used in the Zope system.

Hello list, --- I'm trying to add a feature to ZWiki by patching moin_support.py, but it's not very obvious. I need some kind of line break feature, so this markup: * Line 1 <linebreak> Line 2 <linebreak> Line 3 becomes exactly what you'd think. This is for example useful for typing in addresses or other contact-information. It might be accomplished merely by allowing <br>-tags, but perhaps that's a little off key in the world of MoinMoin. WebDAV BUGS and access to /tmp directory

Hi, I am back trying to figure out why my zope crashes on open('/tmp/tmp4fd4foo') kind of opens, which seem to originated from webdav code. Question to someone who is expert in webdav/*.py code... I just would like to know so I can further my investigation into the bug/malfuction of zope on OS X. regards, Pavel
