New HD, Moving ZODB

Hi; I've added a new HD to my server. I have 2 instances of Zope 2.7.8. I need to move at least one instance of ZODB to the new HD (I can easily move them both if necessary). Is there a how-to on how to do this, or, if not, how do I do it? TIA, Nancy

CopyError NoData

Anyone ever had or heard of this problem?? Trying to copy and then paste any object using the ZMI results in a CopyError where the message is that there was no data (CopyError, eNoData). This is on a server that was working fine yesterday. There are no error message logs except the standard traceback for the CopyError when performing the paste (in other words, the copy did not raise any flags) The strange thing is that when I go into a containerish object, there is a copy but no paste button. I select any object (container or not) and click copy. This operation is coming back faster than I would expect, but when it comes back the paste button is now visible. I hit paste and get the CopyError again. This happens with cut and paste as well. We've got a Zope-2.8.8 install using ZEO for our database and two client instances talking to it. I have multiple separate storage files configured in the zeo server... this occurs with either client, and whether I am copying/pasting within a single database file or across files. Conflict error

Zope 2.9.4 (but also happens on Zope.2.9.1) XP and Windows 2003 Often I see messages like the following in the event log: 2006-11-20T11:57:33 INFO ZPublisher.Conflict ConflictError at /<***some location***> : database conflict error (oid 0x03a7, class BTrees._OOBTree.OOBTree, serial this txn started with 0x0369ab934257a788 2006-11-20 16:51:15.549000, serial currently committed 0x0369ab9975fb5b99 2006-11-20 16:57:27.652000) (122 conflicts (2 unresolved) since startup at Fri Nov 17 16:01:43 2006) I am also seeing the server go into some sort hard crash (actually it doesn't crash just seems to peg the cpu doing something) ...that seems related. (but I am not totally sure). Sometimes it "magically" recovers but more often than not I have to restart the service to get some sense of normality. What does this message mean -- should I be worried about it? Is it related to my "crash"?

Zope PAS for pubcookie authentication

Hi, rank newbie here, so please be gentle if I'm being stupid. I was here last week a bit looking into authentication using the pubcookie SSO. I've gotten a working version that allows me to log into the ZMI and I want to verify a few things, mostly if I'm opening any huge security holes that I'm not familiar enough with the system to see. Also I have a few questions about how the plugins for various PAS functions get selected and how to tell which is working at any given time. Anyway, here's the meat of the process. Pubcookie sets up a situation using an apache module where requests to protected URLs get forwarded to an auth server where username and password are checked, and a cookie is set containing the username. There is an additional apache mod called mod_fba (fake basic authentication) which then takes the information returned by the pubcookie server and packages it as if it were a basic authentication, setting the login to the username returned by pubcookie. I've started messing with this all by using the PASPlugins plugin called apachepas as a base. It seemed a good place to start as the authentication piece is handled by apache. Apachepas defines two plugins, an ExtractionPlugin and an AuthPlugin. The extraction plugin as I've rewritten it contains the following method: def extractCredentials(self,request): """ extract credentials """ user_id = request.getHeader('REMOTE_USER', None) if not user_id: return None return {'user_id': user_id} The AuthPlugin as I've rewritten it contains the following method: def authenticateCredentials(self, credentials): """See IAuthenticationPlugin. """ user_id = credentials.get('login', None) if user_id is None: return None return user_id, user_id Now, here's my first question. Astute observers may notice that the name for the login name in the credentials used by authenticateCredentials is different than the name set for the login in extractCredentials. This is because when I peeked at the credentials passed in to authenticateCredentials, it appears to be using a different set of credentials than I set. I'm thinking I must be missing a step in there somewhere, but I don't know what it is. Is there some method being called somewhere that takes the {'user_id': user_id} tuple returned by extractCredentials and repackages it into a credentials tuple that looks like this: {'extractor': 'credentials_basic_auth', 'login': 'myname', 'password': 'password', remote_host': '', 'remote_address': 'some.address.com'}? Or, is it that my extractCredentials plugin is not being used, despite being the first listed on the 'active' list for extraction plugins? Second question: if it is possible that the credentials returned might look different depending on which extraction plugin is used, is there a good way for me to code the authenticateCredentials plugin so that it can get the right element as user_id and return it? Where do the stock plugins for PAS live on disk? I'd love to look them over. Third question: How do plugins get selected for PAS tasks like extraction?
