Managing Zope objects in Subversion

Dear all We use Zope for the user interface part of our software product. We currently export the whole folder hierarchy into a .zexp file and maintain this file in Subversion. I'm looking for a way to manage a folder structure as individual Zope objects in Subversion. In fact, maintaining the Zope objects in the file system would suffice, there is no need to edit them with external editors or to be able to use Subversion from within Zope (we use TurtoiseSVN). We're using: - Zope 2.10 - Windows - DTML (yes) Documents and Methods; lots of external methods; some images; and a low number of various other Zope objects. - Zope Objects and particularly Folders have security settings using custom roles I've browsed/googled and looked into books, and found a few products and hints, but most of them seem to be very outdated or not applicable to a Windows environment. Hence I would be very grateful for hints about the "state-of-the-art" way to achieve this. Questions about the installer, packaging

I'm investigating the creation of an RPM for Fedora, but I'd like to get some info before I dive too deeply... 1) It seems like the packaging list is defunct, or at least hasn't had anything but SPAM since 2003. Simple security question

I'm making some changes to an existing Zope setup. The original author has moved on, and I don't have previous experience with Zope: so the setup is relatively well-designed, but I don't really know the low-level basics well. It's some version of Zope 2 (I'm not sure how to get exact version information.) The problem is this: we have an existing web site that works well. I'd like to create a few pages that are private, accessible only by a list of authorized users. So I created a new directory, and added some users to the acl_users folder. Then on the security page for this directory, I unchecked all the "acquire permission settings" boxes, and checked every permission for the class of user I created. (Later I'll reduce the list, but for now they have everything.) But they still get permission failures when they try to do anything. The log shows the error: You are not allowed to access 'pythonMethods' in this context I have several directories with that name on different parts of the site, so it's not completely clear to me which one I'm not allowed to access. ZopeTestCase and Selenium RC? Anybody?

Has anybody managed to marry ZopeTestCase (and the ZopeLite running database) with Selenium RC? I like Selenium but it's a pain to have to manually create a fixture and tear it down again. For the record

I wanted to see how much faster brain.getObject() would be if the returned object was located in a BTreeFolder versus a normal folder so I wrote a benchmark that created about 10,000 light simple objects in two distinctly different containers and each with a ZCatalog that has a PathIndex. I would expect the BTreeFolder parenting calls of brain.getObject() to be much faster but I found that there was NO DIFFERENCE. wtf?! The benchmark is too messy to share right now but how come this could have happened? getObject() basically does a parent.restrictedTraverse(path_splitted[-1]) which should be some sort of getattr() on the container right? content headers wrong after upload

I just noticed that when I submit a form to a zope script(python) that includes a file upload, the content-type and content-length headers of the response are incorrectly set to those of the uploaded file, rather than those of what the script actually returns. Any ideas why this could be happening? I'm running zope 2.9.6 on Debian etch. Thanks, Mike

Upgrading a Product from Zope 2.7 to Zope 2.10

Hello, I'm in the middle of trying to upgrade a Product written for Zope 2.7 so that it runs on Zope 2.10! [Zope] zip files corrupted with IE when opened, fine when downloaded

Hi there, we have a problem with an intranet that runs using plone 2.5.3 when users using IE want to open a zip file from the intranet by using the "open" option from the download dialog they get winzip complaining that the file is corrupted. if they select "save" from the same dialog they can open the zip archive without problem. does anyone know a solution for this or give me an idea where to look for one? thanks robert

Choosing printer in client computer

I need an application to choose a specific printer in a client computer (not the server) for printing reports. Internet explorer uses register entries to configure the default printer, but the problem is that an external script would do this changes in the server, not the local computer. queryCatalog API?

Is there an API for the queryCatalog() method? In order words a comprehensive definition of the parameters/arguments it accepts. The only definition I can usually find is that is accepts a catalog_query with no definition of what that may be. James
