Good day, I have a Software Package on my Zope.org member site and for some reason it will not allow anonymous users to access the URL. It prompts users to login. I have every part of the Package, as well as my Member folder in the published state and is still prompts anonymous users. The URL is http://zope.org/Members/djflux/ADSGroupsFolder Any help on this issue is appreciated. Thanks, Andy. -- Regards, Andrew Rechenberg Infrastructure Team, Sherman Financial Group

Programmatically Adding Product from DTML
by Vern T Takebayashi 11 Oct '03

11 Oct '03

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there a way to add a product using DTML that goes to the initial form for setting properties (like id) For example, <dtml-call "manage_addFolder('testfolder')"> causes a folder with an id of 'testfolder' to be created. But, is there a way to go to the form that allows setting the id (instead of directly creating the folder without user interaction). The reason why I am asking is that I created a simple product that uses a form to initialize the product's properties. When, I select the Add drop down list and select my product, this form pops up and the action the form calls creates the product. However, I would like to be able to view a page that will bring up the form and create the product in response to filling out the form. This would allow me to create a site that allows student evaluations to be done (the product is the evaluation scores). If you can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Zope factory uses the file name not the instance method
by Max M 10 Oct '03

I have two versions of an manage_addSomeForm. # zmi version manage_addTopicForm = PageTemplateFile('zpt/Topic_manage_addTopicForm', globals()) # edit version manage_addTopic = PageTemplateFile('zpt/Topic_manage_addTopic', globals()) The zmi version worked nicely. The product gets added etc. But the edit version, which is for the custom editing interface, did NOT work when I called it from a form: <input type="submit" name="/manage_addProduct/ots_Forum/manage_addTopic:method" class="button" tal:attributes="value i18n/new"> But if I call it with the filename of the Page Template instead, I get the behaviour I want. <input type="submit" name="/manage_addProduct/ots_Forum/Topic_manage_addTopic:method" class="button" tal:attributes="value i18n/new"> It is defined correctly in the constructors: constructors = (manage_addTopicForm, manage_addTopicAction, manage_addTopic, ) Does anybody know why it has this behaviour? Zope never ceases to surprise me ... regards Max M

Zope evaluation questions
by Jeff Rankin 10 Oct '03

10 Oct '03

Hi: I'm a new Zope user and I'm evaluating Zope for use in a few projects. One project is an online parts system for a truck manufacturer (about 3000 'hits' per day). This is a project we've been maintaining for a few years in Cold Fusion. While performance of the application is OK, we're concerned with CF's lack of extensibility, and we're also moving towards open source solutions. I have some questions about Zope I'm hoping you can answer: 1. Can you share experiences about using Zope with IIS? 2. Is it still absolutely necessary to use Zope behind another web server? Most of the info on the web I've found about not using Zope's web server is a few years old. 3. In terms of templating systems, do you find yourselves using DTML or ZPT? 4. If the initial Zope-based projects work out well, we're going to consider using Zope on a much bigger project. At peak times, this project has about 200 concurrent users. It'a a very database intensive application. Will Zope scale well to something of this size? The current version of this application is a load-balanced Cold Fusion setup. Thanks in advance! W. After that, I would look at how to get specific form values from the request. Cheers, Tom P

Hide from authenticated users
by Eric Merritt 10 Oct '03

10 Oct '03

I have a little registration area that should be hidden from authenticated users (only accessable to anonymous). However, I can't seem to get this to work, the anonymous only always shows if someone is authenticated. Basically, I set the 'access content' and view permision to anonymous. Authenticated access only areas seem to work fine, I am a bit confused at this point. Thanks, Eric __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! RE: [Zope] getting a list of users from ACL_USERS

What exactly are "sufficient permissions" ? Thanks, Derek Wilson -----Original Message----- From: Dylan Reinhardt [mailto:zope@dylanreinhardt.com] Sent: Friday, October 10, 2003 11:27 AM To: Derek S. It seems reasonable, by default, that you wouldn't want to allow just *anyone* to examine your user folder. :-) Since you *want* non-default behavior, give this method a proxy role that has sufficient permissions. Once you've got that, you may want to restrict access to this method, granting use of it only to authenticated users, for example. HTH, Dylan

getting a list of users from ACL_USERS
by Derek S. Wilson 10 Oct '03

10 Oct '03

**trying again** I need to get a list of users in ACL_USERS to create a form where people can assign stuff to different users. Here's the code for the display... <SELECT NAME="AssignedTo"> <dtml-in "acl_users.getUserNames()"> <OPTION LABEL="<dtml-var sequence-item>" VALUE="<dtml-var sequence-item>"><dtml-var sequence-item></OPTION> </dtml-in> </SELECT> But when I try it using a regular (non-manager/owner) it says: Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access getUserNames in this context When I use the site manager, it works fine... What could be wrong? What permissions need to be set so that authenticated users can use "getUserNames" in this context? Thanks, Derek Wilson

sorting results by time
by Katie Legere 10 Oct '03

10 Oct '03

I'm pretty new to Zope and am trying to sort results by time. I have a perfectly working <dtml-in> that is going through files and g them in reverse but I would like to filter out ones older than 10 days... I've tried: <dtml-if "bobobase_modification_time < '2003/09/30 15:11:04.697 GMT-4'"> New message posted after '2003/09/30 15:11:04.697 GMT-4'<br> <dtml-else> old message posted before '2003/09/30 15:11:04.697 GMT-4'<br> </dtml-if> But it definately isn't comparing the times properly.
