step by step going from single zope to zeo

Are there any step by step guidelines for how to modify a current single instance zope into a zeo configuration? I have a single zope instance. That zope.conf define two mount points for multiple zodb's. I would like to take that single instance and turn it in to a zeo server, with to zeo clients. Hi Seems to be a couple of problems with this tutorial: http://www.benjiyork.com/quick_start/ 1. Adding this to your configure.zcml <browser:addMenuItem class=".hello.HelloWorld" title="QS Hello World" permission="zope.ManageContent" /> doesn't add anything to the add item drop-down in Zope 2. When following all the steps exactly and going to http://localhost:8080/hello You get a resource not found. By the way the <include package="hello" />...shouldn't that be <include package="hello" file="configure.zcml" />? Thanks -- michael

Hi Been following this turorial at: http://worldcookery.com/files/ploneconf05-five/index.html Using Plone 3.0.6. and Zope 2.10.5 and trying to view http://localhost:8080/portal/news/atom.xml leads me to the below error. Problem with WebDAV and non-ascii titles

Hi, I have a problem with accessing files with non-ascii titles via Enfold Desktop (WebDAV)- Zope 2.10.4). ZSyncer & Zope 2.10

Hello All, We've recently completed an upgrade to Zope 2.10.5 on one of our servers and we've begun to encounter problems with ZSyncer. We use ZSyncer to synchronize objects between this server and another running Zope 2.9.8 (both have ZSyncer 0.7.1 installed). When attempting to "put" folders from the 2.10 server to the 2.9 server, the process hangs and nothing is transferred. However, when we attempt to put individual objects, we are successful. Does anyone know what might be the cause of this issue? ZSyncer 0.7.1, which is the latest release, claims that it may not be compatible with Zope 2.9 and up, but we were able to use it successfully before this most recent upgrade to 2.10. If anyone is aware of a fix or a workaround, or simply has an insight into why this breaks for us, I would greatly appreciate the help. Sincerely, Craig Chasseur University of Michigan

zope on google file system

The google summer of code is almost underway and already has a lot of good ideas but I was wondering if any of my fellow zope users would have any interest in the following area: I don't have the skills but I think it would be cool if some student ported Zope to utilize features of the google file system or libferris. Libferris is a virtual file system that mounts just about everything including postgres, xml and OpenOffice docs. If zope ran on the gfs (primarily adding business logic, security and publishing) it would give a boost to the value of any zope based company. Also, I think it would be fun to run map/reduce on my stored objects! A zope that ran on libferris and offered secure publishing of libferris resources would just be cool. If anybody else thinks this would be useful I will jon the gsoc user list, (even though I'm not a student and I'm not experienced enough with zope to be a mentor) and do my best to make this happen.

After I sent out my message on 2 March, I got completely side-tracked by other business. Please accept my apologies for this late response. I've experimented with FSDump and FileSystemSite, but that's a one-way solution; i.e., I cannot restore the file system back into ZODB. Then when the gfs becomes a service that can be purchased (surely coming one day) zope is ready to be ported to gfs. Also, google can only offer so much without the ability to utilize business logic and security. They must be looking for an affordable way to offer business logic that can scale and serving secure objects. Question about dot in method name

hi every body i'm changing a very old zclass product. In this zclass i declare a python script with this name "mydoc.xls" this script return an xls file with an argument now i'm writing a zope2 product. How can I explain to zope that he should publish a certain method with a different name so when people type http://myIntranet/folder/mydoc.xls?fileName=hello.xls it point to a real python method (dot caracter are forbiden in python class method) mydoc.xls => mydoc_xls(REQUEST=None) I know that Zclasses are bad :) , but I cannot change this URL, because lot's of people record it. thank's a lot for an advice.
