RE: [Zope] Give Ownership
by Samir Mishra 11 Sep '03

context.manage_addLocalRoles is not what I was looking for, it's more of a work-around. And I was hoping to avoid fiddling with the source code. It breaks upgrades released by Zope. Thanks all, I was hoping for an easy answer. -----Original Message----- From: Chris Withers [mailto:chrisw@nipltd.com] Sent: Wednesday, September 10, 2003 14:20 To: Paavo Parkkinen Cc: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: Re: [Zope] Give Ownership Paavo Parkkinen wrote: > On Wed, 10.09.2003 at 07:32 +0300, Paavo Parkkinen wrote: > >>On Wed, 10.09.2003 at 08:16 +0400, Samir Mishra wrote: >> >>>I know I can "take ownership" of objects, but is there a convenient way to >>>"give ownership" to someone? >> >>context.manage_addLocalRoles(username, ['role']) > > I'm such a moron. Of course 'role' should be 'Owner'. That's the same as the Owner role Andreas was talking about, I don't think it's "Ownership" of the sense that Samir was talking about. Not sure you can 'give' ownership. If you really had to, I'd probably do it as an external method and take a look at the code for the "take ownership" method and adapt that... It does not have nothing with rights, please give us full error report. I think that it could be in case when you have method into some subfolder that have some proxy which is not authorized to some other resource. Or you could display in map object that does not allow aq_explicit. Did you have specified which objects you want to show and which are recursive-able? But all these are just guessing if you does not give detailed error log. Zdravi ;-) JL.

When I save the file content is not updtaed to Zope Here is an exemple of index_html content I get: url:http://localhost:8080/index_html meta_type:DTML Method auth:Basic cGF0cmljazp4NjhkZGU1cg== cookie:tree-s="eJyLjlZ3hANPW/XYWAAtiQTP" <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var zope_quick_start> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> is there any idea ? Thanks.

I wanted to be able to use traverse_subpath in index_html to get ['bbb', 'ccc'] from http://example.com/bbb/ccc (if that makes any sense) I think it would be handy in certain cases, but Dieter has said it would require some fairly deep hacking.
