Re: [Zope] control of layout in ZPT

You're trying to call youremail out the scope of where it's defined. In the first block the input is within the TD block where youremail is defined. In the second block the youremail is called within another TD block outside of the TD block where youremail has been defined. Something else you may want to think about is to stop using tables for layout control. CSS offers you significantly more control and is much less complex than messing with tables. for example: borrowing some tips from alistapart.com ><tr > > <th align="left"> > <font size=5><font face="verdana"><b> > Your Name: > </b></font></font> > </th> > <td tal:define="yourname request/YourName|nothing"><input type="text" >name="YourName" > tal:replace="structure python:form.YourName.render(yourname)" /> > </td> > ><td tal:define="youremail request/YourEmail|nothing"> > <font size=5><font face="verdana"><b> > Your Email Address: > </b></font></font> > </td> > > <td><input type="text" name="YourEmail" > tal:replace="structure >python:form.YourEmail.render(youremail)"> > </td> > </tr> could become: <div class="row"> <span class="label">Your Name:</span> <span class="fld" tal:define="yourname request/YourName|nothing"> <input type="text" name="YourName" tal:replace="structure python:form.YourName.render(yourname)" /> </span> </div> <div class="row"> <span class="label">Your Email Address:</span> <span class="fld" tal:define="yourname request/YourName|nothing"> <input type="text" name="YourEmail" tal:replace="structure python:form.YourEmail.render(youremail)"> </span> </div> Then if you define your CSS properly you just line to two divs next to each other and you have a continuous row with multiple fields. This also gives you a nice clean seperation of structure vs. look and feel and more flexibility in future maintenance. Using the FONT tag and Tables for layout is for the past and should probably only be used if you absolutely have to support IE4/NS4 and below. Fortunately about 98% of the market right now is IE5+/NS6/Opera. If you absolutely must stick with using the font tag and tables use ONE font tag for formatting <font size="5" face="verdana"> and I believe that most user agents automatically bold any text headers for the table so there's not much sense in using <B> for those elements. >From: pradeep behera <pradeepdeveloper(a)yahoo.com> >To: zope(a)zope.org >Subject: [Zope] control of layout in ZPT >Date: Fri, 13 Jun 2003 06:24:04 -0700 (PDT) >MIME-Version: 1.0 >Received: from mail.python.org ([12.155.117.29]) by >mc10-f27.bay6.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(5.0.2195.5600); Fri, 13 >Jun 2003 06:25:15 -0700 >Received: from localhost.localdomain ([127.0.0.1] helo=mail.python.org)by >mail.python.org with esmtp (Exim 4.05)id 19QoYK-00028k-00; Fri, 13 Jun 2003 >09:25:12 -0400 >Received: from web20710.mail.yahoo.com ([216.136.226.183])by >mail.python.org with smtp (Exim 4.05)id 19QoXG-00026G-00for zope(a)zope.org; >Fri, 13 Jun 2003 09:24:06 -0400 >Received: from [203.193.149.237] by web20710.mail.yahoo.com via HTTP; Fri, >13 Jun 2003 06:24:04 PDT >X-Message-Info: EoYTbT2lH2MsQxQLKd6QGpQxvU17UYmU >Message-ID: <20030613132404.73809.qmail(a)web20710.mail.yahoo.com> >X-Spam-Status: No, hits=3.5 required=5.0 >tests=BIG_FONT,FROM_BIGISP,HTML_FONT_COLOR_BLUE,MIME_ALTERNATIVE,SPAM_PHRASE_08_13,SPAM_REDIRECTOR >X-Spam-Level: *** >Sender: zope-admin(a)zope.org >Errors-To: zope-admin(a)zope.org >X-BeenThere: zope(a)zope.org >X-Mailman-Version: 2.0.13 (101270) >Precedence: bulk >List-Help: <mailto:zope-request@zope.org?subject=help> >List-Post: <mailto:zope@zope.org> >List-Subscribe: ><http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope>,<mailto:zope-request@zope.org?subject=subscribe> >List-Id: Users of the Z Object Publishing Environment <zope.zope.org> >List-Unsubscribe: ><http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope>,<mailto:zope-request@zope.org?subject=unsubscribe> >List-Archive: <http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/> >Return-Path: zope-admin(a)zope.org >X-OriginalArrivalTime: 13 Jun 2003 13:25:15.0810 (UTC) >FILETIME=[39F80820:01C331AF] > > >Hi, > >I want to use formulator for designing my forms. Q: User acquisition with exUserFolder
by Pierre-Antoine CHAMPIN 13 Jun '03

13 Jun '03

Hi, I'm working on a Zope application where I need different user folders at different parts of the site. Furthermore, I need subfolder to acquire users from superfolders, which works fine with standard (HTTP) authentication, with both the standard Zope User Folder and exUserFolder. However, I use exUserFolder's Cookie based authentication, because my users are more comfortable with a login form and proper logout. When I use that, exUserFolder no longer acquires users from "upper" user folders, even other cookie based exUserFolders. Is this a bug or a feature of exUserFolder? In either case, is there a workaround? thanks in advance pA

FWIW, we get similar problems on our Zope 2.6.2 as well. -G > -----Original Message----- > From: Andy McKay [mailto:andy@agmweb.ca] > Sent: Wednesday, June 04, 2003 12:30 PM > To: Chris McDonough > Cc: Paul Winkler; Warnes, Gregory R; zope(a)zope.org > Subject: Re: [Zope] Problem committing zope "version" objects > > > On Tue, 2003-06-03 at 23:03, Chris McDonough wrote: > > It's farly difficult to maintain documentation that is > riddled with very > > specific references to open-ended time-sensitive bugs (sort of like > > maintaining C code with lots of #ifdefs in them). > > Absolutely. > > > But apparently this bug has been fixed for 2.6.2, so it's probably a > > good idea to mention in the book that "versions are > somewhat broken up > > to Zope 2.6.2". > > IHMO there are more bugs with Versions than just this and I think for > most users this is too late since most dont read the book > until its too > late. > -- > Andy McKay > LEGAL NOTICE Unless expressly stated otherwise, this message is confidential and may be privileged. Distributing applications
by Ernesto Saez 13 Jun '03

Hi, I am starting to use Zope and probably my question is too simple (sorry): If I create a web application on a server and want toinstall it on different machine, do I need Zope installed in this second server? Even more, if the first server is Linux and the second one Windows, can I install my application in the Windows Server? I havent found a clear answer for my questions in the web. Thanks, Ernesto.

Re: [Zope-DB] ZODB Vs Mysql
by Michael Long 13 Jun '03

One other point to consider...when you are coming from an RDBMS world and stepping into the object oriented world you will need to make a paradigm shift in thinking when designing you db/product/site. The object oriented nature of the ZODB provides some huge advantages once you grok it (not that I do fully). Python is your friend. That does not mean that you can always eliminate the RDBMS. There are many reasons for using an RDBMS and Zope allows it to be integrated very easily in your site. If you have something that you think needs 100 tables - then you probably need an RDBMS. Or if you have fewer tables but need many different views of the data. Or if other people need access to raw data without Zope's intermediation, you probably need an RDBMS. > > Working with any supported RDBMS is not hard in zope. adding instance of Local File Sysem programattically
by Dennis Allison 13 Jun '03

13 Jun '03

I'm doing something wrong, but I just don't seed it. from a python script container.manage_addProduct['Local File System'].addLocalFS( someid, sometitle, somebasepath) fails with a key error on 'Local File System'. However, if one builds a LFS from the ZMI and looks at the meta type, that's what is returned. I'm sure it's somthing simple. BTW, I am using version 1.0.

Beyond what I wrote in a previous message: It just occurred to me that driving distances can be outside the bounds given by the L(1) and L(2) distances because of obstructions, political boundaries, etc. For example, for those familiar with southern Ontario, the road distance within Canada between Niagara Falls and Oshawa is greater than the L(1) distance since, to remain within Canada, one must drive around the western end of Lake Ontario.

How install the CMFCollection
by Alvaro Hernandez 13 Jun '03

13 Jun '03

how install CMFCollection product, the install.txt file only indicates that to do after this installed. I have tried to install it continuing the instructions of other product, as for example CMFPlone 1. Untar CMFCollection file #unzip CMFCollection-0.2.0.zip 2. copy or move CMFCollection directory to zope directory #mv CMFCollection /usr/local/zope/. 3. Move to /usr/local/zope/lib/python/Product # cd /usr/local/zope/lib/python/Product 4. make a sym link in lib/python/Product # ln -s ../../../CMFCollection CMFCollection and voila This is the correct procedure? Ignoring the third dimension--which, I imagine, becomes significant only in mountainous or hilly terrain--for some range of distances driving distance will be somewhere between the "best-case" L(2) (as-the-crow-flies) distance and the L(1) (Manhattan) distance.
