- Zope - Zope lists

Hello, i have three objects : testform (a ZPT) testscript (a PythonScript) testdtml (a DTML Method) located in a standard Zope root. I fill in testform fields then submit the form to testscript wich set a property (request.set('tesfield', 'Hi there') in the request and then calls testdtml with the request object. testdtml displays REQUEST with the fields from testform and testfield set in tescript, without problems if i don't use <dtml-var standard_html_header>. If i do, the publisher returns a KeyError : standard_html_header. I don't understand why standard_html_header is not acquired. Does somebody explain to me how acquisition behaviour is affected by my stuff. More generally, my goal is to understand how i can pass parameters to forms from scripts, other forms and object methods so don't hesitate to feed me with some theory. here is the source of testscript: # Example code: # Import a standard function, and get the HTML request and response objects. from Products.PythonScripts.standard import html_quote request = container.REQUEST RESPONSE = request.RESPONSE request.set('testfield','Hi there') destination=getattr(container,'testdtml') kw={} kw['REQUEST']=container.REQUEST return apply(destination, (), kw)

How to obtain the parent-object from an Zope-object
by Wim Bekker 17 May '03

17 May '03

How can I obtain the 'parent' object in Zope with python (script)? I have a subfolder that contains some python script that I want to run on some selected objects from the parent folder (of this subfolder). I can go a level down by using object from self.objectValues(). But how do I go one level up? I cannot find this kind of information anywhere. Wim

ZODB without undo functionality
by Ulla Theiss 16 May '03

16 May '03

Hello list, I use the ZODB seperately from Zope. The Undo-functionlity of the FileStorage makes a lot of sense for the usage by Data.fs. But it's just inconvenient for my application. I don't need the functionality, but because of the functionality more disk space is needed, I have to implement way to pack the database quite often an I suppose because of the big amount of data the application has performance losses. My question: Is there a way, to get the FileStorage to work without the undo functionality? I've tried other Storages (gdbmStorage and anydbmStorage) but could not get them to work. Could you recommend them or another Storage? Or should I stay by the FileStorage. Thanks in advance, Ulla.

Re: incredible growing urls

Dieter Maurer <dieter(a)handshake.de> wrote, in part: > A trivial URL reference is one not containing a "/". They are harmless. > A relative URL reference containing a "/" is non-trivial unless > the path segment before each "/" is either "." or "..". > Non-trivial URL references can cause growing URLs. Do not use them. I'm a beginner. I have a very simple site in which the menu is generated with the following code: <dtml-with OSPN> <dtml-in "objectItems(['Folder'])" sort="id"> <dtml-if expr="id[0] in '0123456789'"> <a href="&dtml-id;"><dtml-var expr="id[2:].replace('_', ' ')"></a><br/> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> </dtml-with> Each time one clicks on a menu item the corresponding page is displayed. There appears to be no non-trivial URL reference. owever, the URL grows. Would you please point out my mistake. Thanks very much. Bill

I'm looking for things like: Concurrent sessions on single machine, Concurrent sessions per machine in a ZEO cluster, Page refresh rates. Nothing too major, basically. manage_addPythonScript
by Charles Zealey 16 May '03

I'm haing some problems calling manage_addPythonScript. While the manual mentions it's existence I can find no examples of how to call it (a common complaint!). However, when I get something that runs I get Error Type: TypeError Error Value: 'in' or 'not in' needs sequence right argument (which I have only ever seen where python versions are wrong.....) Is this a permisssions problem, a bug, or simply user error? I'd appreciate your wisdom....... which base class for "news"
by Andreas Pakulat 16 May '03

16 May '03

Hi, i need to have a ZClass for News-Entries, but I don't really know which Base Class to use. I need to save author, time of creation and the real news-text with it, so I first thought that I could put these into different properties and have no base class. Now this doesn't work, as I don't have properties with no base class, second thought was to use file, but then I'll get the content page when clicking on it in the ZMI? I know that I can redefine the edit View to my propertysheet/manage view, but I thought that there would be a more "straightforward" solution to this? I also thought about setting the data of a File-subclassed ZClass to the news-text, but this doesn't work, I get a Unauthorized Error when execution <newObject>.update_data within a Script(Python)?! I would be the most concerned about "queue" and "new_queue" because they seem to have the most potential for keeping references hanging around - who knows what references Zope may construct once the thing returns? So the one thing I would try first is this - > if (context.is_root != 1): > return context.aq_parent.getRootedMenuList(new_queue) new_queue = None #just in case ... > else: > return new_queue Where does "is_root" come from? BTW, you do not need the parens around the condition expressions in the if statements. Cheers, Tom P

Stop external URL's loading within a browser window
by Michael Fox 16 May '03

16 May '03

Hi *, Seeing as the majority of people on this list are web developers, I thought this would be the place to ask my question. In hope that someone else has had the same issue and possibly has a solution. Within my Zope application, I load a small pop-up window in which I load a third party applet. My problem is when users click on an external link (say a URL contained in an email in Outlook etc.) it loads that site within the pop-up window containing my applet and clobbers all child applications loaded by that applet. Is there any way to stop this using JavaScript or some other mechanism? Thanks in advance, Michael Fox Web Analyst Programmer Century Software http://www.CenturySoftware.com.au Tel: +61-2-9460-1422 Fax: +61-2-9460-3098
