Can't access id or title
by Sean K 15 Feb '03

15 Feb '03

Hi all, When I add a dtml method to an instance of a product that subclasses folder, any attempt to render the id or title cuases the Authentication Failed msssage box and delivers a traceback like this:- Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 150, in publish_module Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 114, in publish Module Zope.App.startup, line 182, in zpublisher_exception_hook Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 98, in publish Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 39, in call_object Module OFS.DTMLMethod, line 126, in __call__ Module DocumentTemplate.DT_String, line 474, in __call__ Module OFS.DTMLMethod, line 119, in __call__ Module DocumentTemplate.DT_String, line 474, in __call__ Unauthorized: You are not allowed to access title_or_id in this context (Also, an error occurred while attempting to render the standard error message.). I have tried adding Implicit and SimpleItem to the inheritence, this does not help (I didn't expect it to as folder inherits Item). Rendering the id from a dtml method of the product causes no pain. Of course a dtml document contained in the product also causes no problems. So why the problem? No references to id or title and the dtml-method renders fine. Thanks in advance, Sean Kemplay. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Shopping - Send Flowers for Valentine's Day http://shopping.yahoo.com

Re: [Zope] Customizing the standard_error_message DTML method

However, it mentions that >the only way to customize the standard_error_message >method is to modify Zope's Python source code. Huh?? The article is about modifying the contents of a DTML method and introduces the exception-related variables that you may be most interested in. It also explains some common usage of standard_error_message. Toward the end it mentions the significance of one command line switch and notes what conditions can't be changed without breaking into the source... but the first 3-4 sections are exactly the information you need. One thing it takes for granted as obvious is that standard_error_message is just an ordinary DTML method. Pretty much anything you can do in DTML can be done in standard_error_message. Open up the standard_error_message in the root of your ZMI, read it carefully and take another look at the article. Dylan

Accessing a user's password
by Asad Habib 15 Feb '03

15 Feb '03

Is there any way to access a user's password given the name of the user? Also, once you access the password, how would you decrypt it(I would like to email the password to a user who has forgotten his)? Any help would be appreciated. RE: [Zope] HELP! SiteRoot problem, unable to undo -- IGNORE
by Samir Mishra 15 Feb '03

Please ignore my previous cry for help! In my panic, I didn't realize I was reading the instruction on how to disable SiteAccess as listed for SiteAccess 1, and not v2. -----Original Message----- From: Samir Mishra [mailto:SamirMishra@cbuae.gov.ae] Sent: Saturday, February 15, 2003 13:09 To: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: [Zope] HELP! PCGI?
by Jim Fulton 15 Feb '03

15 Feb '03

I'm wondering how PCGI should be supported in Zope moving forward. We currently have: - A PCGI server in ZServer - A pcgi directory that contains: o A cgi program that is very thin and whos only job is to forward requests to an app server running pcgi o An unused PCGI "publisher", which would be used by a Python application server that wasn't running ZServer. o A debugging tool named MrCreosote. I don't know if anyone is using this. I'd like to continue supporting PCGI in ZServer as long as it is used. I'd like to omit the pcgi directory fron the Zope distribution and make it a separate distribution. Would anyone object to these changes for Zope 2.7? RE: [Zope] Zope dies after a few seconds
by Samir Mishra 15 Feb '03

15 Feb '03

I have a related problem. The Zope service would hang (I would get the "Starting..." message but nothing more) and then one fine day I find the service isn't listed anymore in my list of services. Any way I can fix this? I'm a user, not much of a programmer. TIA. Samir. -----Original Message----- From: Gerhard Venter [mailto:loper@ananzi.co.za] Sent: Friday, February 14, 2003 17:57 To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [Zope] Zope dies after a few seconds Actually, the main problem was that I did not remove the old PID file that I backed up. AFter removing Z2.pid and pcgi.pid I was able to start Zope again. Gerhard Venter wrote: >Thanks. I was not aware of fstest.py, but tried it and it >reported no problems. referencing images in products
by Dennis Allison 14 Feb '03

14 Feb '03

I have a product which needs to reference some icons which are part of the product. Following the usual structure, the icons are www sub-directory of the product. The dtml that wants to reference the image is in the dtml sub-directory. What's the reference mechanism? <img src="../www/image.png"> in the dtml code does not resolve to the image. Nor doe the equivalent <dtml-var ...> formulation. What should the reference be?

Passing Z-SQL Method Result to Pythin Script
by Mico Siahaan 14 Feb '03

14 Feb '03

3:52 PM 2/14/2003 I stored articles data in MySQL. The fields of articles tables are: title, content, and their date of submitted. Suppose I want to show only some of the content of the articles (about only 50 words shown), how do I do it in Zope? I thought I could use Z-SQL Method to get the full content from MySQL then processed Z-SQL result with python script. But I failed. I did not know how to pass the Z-SQL Method result to python script. Can anybody give me an example how to do it? Thanks. -- mico(a)cbn.net.id --- Ph. 62-22-2505549 ICQ #12521756

dtml-tree inside html table
by Leonardo Fernandes 14 Feb '03

14 Feb '03

Hello, Well, I've got a very specific question, I'd like to use a dtml-tree inside a table for using it like a menu. The problem is when I expand the tree created whatever is on top of the page disappears and the table gets on top of the screen (I have to scroll to see the top of the page). I'd like to know if anyone knows how to make it work as expected. Thanks Probably this dtml code can help you figure aou what I mean, just copy and paste it to see what happens: <html> <body bgcolor="#00A000" rightmargin="0" leftmargin="0" bottommargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0"> <h1>TESTE</h1> <table border="0" width="100%" height="100%" align="left" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="10"> <tr> <td width="20%" bgcolor="#00A000" valign="top"> <dtml-tree some_folder> <a href='<dtml-var id>'><dtml-var title_or_id></a> </dtml-tree> </td> <td width="100%"> aaa </td> </tr> </table> </body> </html>
