Help w/ manage_delObjects
by JBeard＠porternovelli.com 14 Feb '03

14 Feb '03

I'm trying to delete an object but am encountering an error: My form is simple: form action="delete" input type="submit" value="delete" input type=" hidden" value="outputs id here" name="del_object" /form delete is a python script that looks like this: request = container.REQUEST RESPONSE = request.RESPONSE context.manage_delObjects(request.del_object) RESPONSE.redirect(request['HTTP_REFERER']) This is supposed to delete the object passed from the form being "del_object" My Error: Error Type: Bad Request Error Value: filetobedeleted_id.html does not exist However the file does exist - so I'm not for sure why this isn't deleting?

Getting an authenticated user out of context
by Crosbie Fitch 14 Feb '03

14 Feb '03

I also just posted this to the ExUserFolder list, but I realise it's not necessarily specific to that. *** Bit of a newbie here, so my statements may be in error... Here's an outline of my site: Root Folder acl_users ... subfolder acl_users (exUserFolder) ... protected, lower stuff If a browser navigates to the root of my site, they are anonymous (with respect to the top level acl_users). If they login via a subfolder (having its own acl_users), they are authenticated in that subfolder and lower, etc. However, if they navigate back to the root, they are again anonymous (in that context), but returning to the subfolder, they are still authenticated. Q.1) Is it possible for pages at the root level to obtain the user info with respect to the subfolder's acl_users rather than that of the root's? I realise you can call methods on acl_users like this: <span tal:replace="python:root.acl_users.getUserNames()"></span> <span tal:replace="python:root.subfolder.acl_users.getUserNames()"></span> But, how do you discriminate between the 'authenticated user's that you're interested in? In other words, is there a way of getting a contextualised 'user' object? I can only think of calling a script that's located in 'subfolder', but I'm not sure that'd work... Q.2) Is the '__ac' cookie stored with respect to the path of the subfolder? Or when I need to log the 'subfolder' user out should the path in the following still be '/' or should it be '/subfolder/' ? <div tal:define="dummy python:request['RESPONSE'].expireCookie('__ac',path='/')" /> OR <div tal:define="dummy python:request['RESPONSE'].expireCookie('__ac',path='/subfolder/')" /> ta for help :)

ZCatalog and SiteRoot Not Getting Along
by Edward Pollard 14 Feb '03

14 Feb '03

Previously I came to the list with a problem of entries in the ZCatalog going away when I hit the "Update" button in the Catalog "Advanced" tab (Subj: [Zope] ZCatalog - Full Update Deletes Valid Entries). Well, I figured that the problem is caused by the presence of a SiteRoot. (I develop on a server without a siteroot, thus the problem did not arise in development.) I'm resubmitting this problem so that perhaps someone with greater wisdom than I can set me on the right path -------------- First, "The Preamble". Stuff you need to know to understand the context of my problem. Our main website is http://www.blah.ca We use Apache ProxyPass to redirect certain directories to directories on our Zope server. ie, http://www.blah.ca/notice is not redirected, http://www.blah.ca/it goes to http://zope.blah.ca/www/it Indeed, all zope pages served this way are in the /www/ directory. We also proxy pass /manage et al so we can manage the material behind the site root. We've developed a system for indexing websites - zClasses that extend Page Templates and File that are catalog aware. Sitting at the root of the /www/ heirarchy is the zCatalog that runs this show. I have webtools to create and manipulate the zClassses mentioned above. I've also created the correct PropertySheet methods to change the cataloged information in the ZMI. ------- Now, "The Problem". I create some of my zClass objects at http://www.blah.ca/it/. This is, really, at http://zope.uleth.ca/www/it/. They show in the zCatalog with Object Identifiers in the style '/it/filenames'. Fantastic. I can manipulate them every which way from sunday. No trouble. They display in my zCatalog search tool properly. I go to http://www.blah.ca/myzCatalog/manage. I look on the Catalog tab and see all my items as they should be - all with identifiers starting with '/it/'. I go to advanced. Hit Update. Go back to Catalog. All gone. I go to Find Objects, and select my zClasses (all items of these classes should be in the catalog anyway). They all come back, but now their identifiers are /www/it/filenames. If I try now to manipulate these files - change titles, for instance - when they reindex they do not recongize the entry in the zCatalog with /www/ in the identifier as their own, and create a new entry. The item is now listed twice. - once with an identifier beginning with /www/ - once with an identifier beginning with /it/ The /it/ entry will now behave as I would expect it to. The /www/ entry never gets changed - not when I update with my tools, not when I change properties in the ZMI. It only becomes accurate when I update the index again, and all the /it/ entries are deleted. So, it seems clear that the zCatalog and the SiteRoot are not getting along. Anyone with any experience to set me right, or can I not use the ProxyPass system when a zCatalog is present? Thanks, Edward

Aquisition

Hello Folks, I am developing an Page Template that should create a link depending on the content of that folder. If I find an index_html, I want a Link otherwise not. I have a Python Script check4index_html: return hasattr(context.aq_explicit,'index_html') and the following PageTemplate: <a tal:condition="python:r.object.check4index_html()==1" tal:content="r/object/title_or_id" tal:attributes="href url" target="main">Id</a> For some reasons the condition evaluates to true all the time. The script works fine and the objects are valid ( I see the right title). So what is wrong ? Thanks for any ideas.... Logout: Prompt pops up again
by Thomas Guettler 14 Feb '03

14 Feb '03

Hi! If I use the logout method like this: def logout_(self, REQUEST, RESPONSE): """ Logout current user Stolen from: App/Management.py """ p = getattr(REQUEST, '_logout_path', None) if p is not None: return apply(self.restrictedTraverse(p)) realm=RESPONSE.realm print "realm:", realm RESPONSE.setStatus(401) RESPONSE.setHeader('WWW-Authenticate', 'basic realm="%s"' % realm, 1) RESPONSE.setBody(self.logout(refresh=0)) return The browser pops up a prompt where I should login again. But I login into the logout page which is senseless. Has someone a solution? I tried a redirect to a public method but this does not work. thomas -- Thomas Guettler <guettli(a)thomas-guettler.de> http://www.thomas-guettler.de

CMS Architecture Ideas/Help
by JBeard＠porternovelli.com 14 Feb '03

14 Feb '03

I'm using zope to build some sites and building a UI that sits on top of zope for a non-ZMI user to edit content. (These are for all intent purposes static sites >> and the UI is for content editing / deleting / and occasionllay adding new content) Currently my architecture is setup like so: Folders used to represent the natural sitemap (i.e. about us, contact, products...) -- Within the folders are zpt pages -- or some other type of document where I'm storing the content. -- For example for the index.html for the about us page > that is a zpt > with all the content stored as properties of the zpt. I -- I've created propertes such as title / subtitle / body / bodycallout. Thus I use zpt for design and then use zpt w/ properties to store the content. (That's my two layers of content & design) Then for the UI, I expose those properites in form elements so they can be editied. (make sense?) So overall this is my architecture - but I'm looking for pros/cons of this setup? Any advice or insight?

I am a relatively new user of ZOPE and was wondering if it is possible to run programs on SAS from a ZOPE website ( or more specifically a plone website). Any help or a nudge in the right direction would be grateful.
