Hi everyone, Sticking with Beno's example, how would one get the number of records (length of the matching set) for <dtml-if expr="folder==lang"> ? > <dtml-let lang="REQUEST.get('HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE','en-us')"> > <dtml-in objectValues> > <dtml-let folder=id> > <dtml-let langShort=lang[2:]> > <dtml-var langShort> > <dtml-if expr="folder==lang"> > <dtml-var lang> > </dtml-if> > </dtml-let> > </dtml-let> > </dtml-in> > </dtml-let> Sorry if this is a dumb question... Thanks, Ken

Documentation
by Jerry Westrick 16 Jan '03

Hello everybody.... I'm relatively new to zope and also relatively new to python. I'm having a had time doing the simplest things in my zope/python environment.... As example (the latest of a long line of problems...), how do I get the contents on a Zope file. how do I access the file. I would like to read the file line by line in a for-loop. Now, giving me the answer to theese questions would be helpfull, but... Telling me where to find the answer would probably be more helpfull! Thank you for yout time... Jerry Westrick. P.S. I have bought/read 4 zope books and 2 python books, and searched many, many web pages for the info....so if you choose to give me a RTFB, (or RTFM), please point the Fine (8-) Book/Manual out to me.

Apache 2?
by Ben Avery 16 Jan '03

16 Jan '03

hi, I'm in the process of putting a development site into production, and want to put it behind an Apache server to handle the SSL stuff. Apache 2 has been out a while now and looks good, and it would be nice to use the new release, rather than 1.13.xx which will be gradually replaced. Are there any known problems with using Apache 2.0.xx? Or is it still recommended to use 1.3.xx? and could someone please point me to a reliable how-to? there are a few out there. the site is for a high-profile charity project here in the UK, and the launch will be attended by the charity's president, Prince Charles - I'd really like for it not to f**k up! :) thanks in advance Ben Avery Youthnet UK

Still Having Problems With DTML
by beno 16 Jan '03

16 Jan '03

This is becoming far_more_complex than I anticipated. I would love to be able to do something like this: <dtml-let lang="REQUEST.get('HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE','en-us')"> <dtml-in objectValues> <dtml-let folder=id> <dtml-let langShort=lang[2:]> <dtml-var langShort> <dtml-if expr="folder==lang"> <dtml-var lang> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> </dtml-let> but there are two problems here: 1) Apparently I can't slice in DTML; 2) The expression "folder==lang" evaluates the literal strings, not the variables. The second problem is probably far less difficult than the first. The first seems to necessitate I do this as a Python script. That being the case, it seems logical to do the objectValues iteration in the same script. So, how do I do that? Looking at Appendix B, I find *propertyIds()* as a likely method. What would my syntax be? Something like this? for property in propertyIds(): or do I need *context.propertyIds()*? TIA, beno

VHM ques
by AM 16 Jan '03

Hi, I have a zope install behind and apache, both of which work fine individually. In the zope instance in the root folder I have a folder called nbs.<domain>.com and also a VHM instance call nbs without any mappings in there. No as per instructions at http://www.zope.org/Members/regebro/Zope_and_Apache I set up my httpd.conf so: <VirtualHost *> ServerAdmin webmaster@<domain>.com ServerName nbs.<domain>.com RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://192.168.10.172:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/nbs.<domain>.com:80/nbs.<domain>.com/VirtualHostRoot/$1 [L,P] ErrorLog logs/zope_error_log TransferLog logs/zope_access_log ProxyVia On </VirtualHost> However with the abovementioned section enbaled, if I hit the site www.<domain>.com I get a forbidden error. If it is commented out I see the familiar apache test page. My error logs zope_error_log: [Wed Jan 15 03:05:17 2003] [error] [client 66.121.5.66] client denied by server configuration: proxy:http://192.168.10.172:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/nbs.<domain>.com:80/nbs.<domain>.com/VirtualHostRoot/ [Wed Jan 15 03:05:17 2003] [error] [client 66.121.5.66] client denied by server configuration: proxy:http://192.168.10.172:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/nbs.<domain>.com:80/nbs.<domain>.com/VirtualHostRoot/error/HTTP_FORBIDDEN.html.var [Wed Jan 15 03:06:10 2003] [error] [client 66.121.5.66] client denied by server configuration: proxy:http://192.168.10.172:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/nbs.<domain>.com:80/nbs.<domain>.com/VirtualHostRoot/ [Wed Jan 15 03:06:10 2003] [error] [client 66.121.5.66] client denied by server configuration: proxy:http://192.168.10.172:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/nbs.<domain>.com:80/nbs.<domain>.com/VirtualHostRoot/error/HTTP_FORBIDDEN.html.var Can anybody tell me what I did wrong here?? The ErrorDocs section in my httpd.conf is enabled and aliased to the error document folder. ANy help would be greatly appreciated. FTP hangups
by Terry Hancock 16 Jan '03

16 Jan '03

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone here can shed some light on why Zserver hangs up on ftp so often. I frequently run into a problem where FTPing into my Zope site just hangs after apparently connecting. Here's a transcript of a session using ncftp (with names changed to protect the innocent): """ myclient:~/project/icon32> ncftp NcFTP 3.1.3 (Mar 27, 2002) by Mike Gleason (ncftp(a)ncftp.com) ncftp> bookmarks ncftp> open -umyusername -pmypasswd -P8021 myserver Connecting to 134.4.20.73... myserver FTP server (Medusa Async V1.18 [experimental]) ready. Logging in... Login successful. Logging in... """ Unfortunately, that's as far as it goes. After a few minutes, I see a message like this: """ Could not read reply from control connection -- timed out. """ Zope 2.5.1, Python 2.1.3, on Solaris 8 (also on Debian 3.0 and FreeBSD (I think v4)). The client is Debian 3.0. Are there any known issues which account for this kind of problem? Thanks for any ideas, Terry -- Terry Hancock ( hancock at anansispaceworks.com ) Anansi Spaceworks http://www.anansispaceworks.com "Some things are too important to be taken seriously"

ZPT img using attributes (newbie)
by Crosbie Fitch 16 Jan '03

I got this going no problem: <img src="/logo.gif"> Then I spent ages today trying to figure out why the following wouldn't work: <img src="/logo.gif" tal:attributes="src here/logo.gif" /> Eventually I looked at other examples like this: <img src="/logo.gif" border="0" tal:define="im here/logo.gif" tal:attributes="src im/absolute_url; width im/width; height im/height; alt im/title" /> And then I figured that I needed a magic word: <img src="/logo.gif" tal:attributes="src here/logo.gif/absolute_url" /> I guess these things become obvious over time...

Strange Zope errors with heavy use of SESSION
by Peter Bengtsson 16 Jan '03

16 Jan '03

2003-01-15T02:33:15 ERROR(200) ZServer uncaptured python exception, closing chan nel <ZServer.HTTPServer.zhttp_channel connected 127.0.0.1:2553 at 0x27aff4c chan nel#: 15 requests:2> (socket.error:(10053, 'Software caused connection abort') [ H:\ZOPE\ZOPE26~1\ZServer\medusa\asynchat.py|handle_read|82] [H:\ZOPE\ZOPE26~1\ZS erver\medusa\http_server.py|recv|423] [H:\ZOPE\ZOPE26~1\ZServer\medusa\asyncore. py|recv|361]) Yeah, right!? I've got a page (python product) that is like a step-by-step wizard. After every screen I stick a couple of variables in the SESSION object like this: def PropertiesWizardRemember(self, **kw): """ remember things for the wizard in the SESSION """ session = self.REQUEST.SESSION for key, value in kw.items(): session[key]= value Sometimes it works, but very rarely; for a little while. Then all of sudden the SESSION object is being "reset". This happens jointly with the error message to stdout. I can't find exactly what triggers it, but I'm the only one using this dev-server. Only since I started working on this wizard these messages started to appear. Zope 2.6.1b1 win32 python 2.1
