Hi everybody, I am trying to run zope behind the IIS. I set up the virtual directory in IIS that maps to zope, but it returns my zope root index_html page? How can I map the zope to IIS like http://domain/zope/ instead of the http://domain:8080/? Any help please? Thanks Yan __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Zsync is the product which lets you copy zope objects between sites. Very sweet. Rsync is the unix command for copying files systems across computers. Regards Chris 1-510-740-6486 lozinski(a)openstepnews.com lozinski(a)jobmart.com

Ram cache and ZPT
by Andy McKay 27 Sep '02

So Im fine tuning my Plone site, by putting some ram caching on. So i customized two objects about_slot and links_slot (both page templates) and put them in ram cache. I then hit the a page a few times, no hits to the cache, it seems these pages are being rendered every time. Basically lslot is passed through as a string in the main template for each slot, to the following code, so for example here/about_slot/macros/aboutBox. <metal:block use-macro="python:path(lslot)"> This is Zope 2.5.1. Any ideas? -- Andy McKay www.agmweb.ca

Enhanced Site Development
by Rares Vernica 27 Sep '02

Hi, I wand to ask you about your opinion about developing web sites enhanced with manage like system (for example: user can add a folder or file, delete a folder or file, rename ..., cut ..., copy ... and paste... - without even see the management interface). Is Zope prepare for this kind of things or is it thought to be used so? I mean, I already made such enhancements and for example for Copy I wanted to extend Zope manageCopy from OFS.CopySupport and what came out only extension couldn't be named, because I had to copy 10% of the original's function code in my function and I haven't already treat any raised exception. Is it Zope build for such extensions? what do you think? How should this be done?! And once again no Help system from Zope (about Zope exceptions and raised exceptions), only source code - but this is NOT HELP (see for example Java Help). :( Thanks in advance, Rares _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com

structured_text and åäö Shall I put this in the Collector?
by Peter Bengtsson 27 Sep '02

27 Sep '02

Consider the following example code: >>> from Products.PythonScripts.standard import structured_text >>> print structured_text("Svenska *tacken*") Svenska tacken >>> print structured_text("Svenska *täcken*") Svenska *täcken* Shouldn't structured_text() be able to support these special characters? Is there a workaround except writing up a simple (but extra processing) hack? Shall I put it in the Collector? Regards, Peter --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. ZOPE site migration
by eric.n.dunn＠bankofamerica.com 27 Sep '02

What is the best way to migrate a ZOPE 2.5.1 web site from one Solaris box to another. We have our test site ready for production release and need to bring it into production environment. We could build the ZOPE instance on the production box, install new products and import from test and export to production... but... is there a way to migrate the entire site, i.e. copy ZOPE instance dir and reconfig the paths to certain scripts?

Else branch for Page Template conditions
by Andreas Tille 27 Sep '02

27 Sep '02

Hi, while looking for examples using tal:condition I just find solutions for an else branch. For instance I want to do something like that Print here variable name. If variable "name" exists print it but I'm seeking for something like else print "name does not exist" Even better would be a method to set variable name to a default value if it does not exist before the test above and print the stuff unconditionally. Kind regards Andreas.
